Useful detail: if you start trade with melee q/ no element you can get 2 passive hits. A lot of players waste q and passive damage, or waste mana and kill opertunities. Also you should w in place and pick up element from the edge of the indicator to make the dash shorter and you can spam eqwq faster. Qiyana players should also stop eating glue before my games
Thank you very much for making a guide that is actually a guide, not just a random game where you say 'make sure to buy this item first" and call it a guide
@Pud Pete Yes, however actual long detailed guides for players who want to put in the work over weeks are not nearly as often made than simpler guides for builds for example that was OP's point most likely
Always pleasant to delight in Coach Curtis' detailed guides, I've never seen any other content creator be so much involved in the precision of the information and the in depth knowledge. I especially feel the difference when the "I hit challenger AMA" person replies with the most basic answers and I'm doubting if there's more than that knowledge, but there is.
Im taking a break at 25 minutes just to appreciate this. You know I’m at university and what you do here… it’s higher quality than what my professors (not sure if it’s the right word) do. Literally. Wanting to learn qiyana and just realized I’m so bad at this champ. Thank you!
THANK YOU for showing a game where you are losing and not getting ganked. I think its so much more important than showing a stomp. So many guides feature games where they have jungle or team gaps and it's just not always the case.
Story time: I’ve been playing League for about 7 months now and I’ve always wanted to play mid but I know it is my weakest role as mages we’re my worst play style of champs. The only midlander I wanted to play was Qi but I was highly intimidated by how mechanically challenging she seemed. I was telling my friends this and they told me just to play her and try it as we usually just play norms together. Same day I was explaining this to them I opened up and chest and got SUPER LUCKY and got the True Damage Prestige Qi skin - and my only thought was well if this isn’t a sign to start playing her idk what is. So I bought her in the shop and got the skin immediately and tried her in a bot match because of course the day I wanna practice her, due to PBE servers I guess Practice tool and custom matches are not available. So after looking up runes for the bot game I went on RU-vid and saw this video. Thought this was kinda a dumb video to be so extensive but after playing the one match I understood why. I’m now sitting here watching the whole video and wow I am amazed at how much time/thought/work you put into this. Thank you so much for making this guide it is seriously so helpful in understanding everything about her. I thought all I needed were her runes and item builds but this guide shows how much is needed to know and the fact I don’t have to go through as many games to figure it out now is so helpful. I will obviously make fuck ups as you said when I play and will be learning from each game but just having these tools is such a blessing. Subscribed and liked the video - thank you so much again !!!
I like that you said that she's the hardest champion you've tried picking up. I 100% agree with that and I play like 20 different champions competently. She's deceptively difficult to play and has a very high skill ceiling. I've played hundreds of Qiyana games and I still feel really noob on her
Awesome guide coach, can we get a katarina guide next? I know there are plenty of other guides for Kata, but your guides are just so much better! Keep up the good work champ!
Curtis actually does have really really good micro. I love how he thinks about things. I wish he would post some of his games and just commentate after the game like a voice over. That would be sooo nice. Kepp up the good work on these guides. They are amazing.
Yet another incredible guide, Curtis. As always, thanks so kuch for your hard work and dedication to teaching the general league community hot to improve. If I could ask one thing, Curtis, could you please make your old google doc champion identity template available again? I thoroughly enjoyed that video and wanted to use your template to create my own version of it more tailored to me but the template was unavailable by the time I had watched the video. Your Viktor guide transformed me from a 43% win rate hard stuck gold 3 to a 57% win rate plat player who significantly outperforms plat metrics for Viktor.
30:50 one more reason to get comfortable getting low hp is the fact that Qiyana is one ot the champions with the highest HP5 regen early on. Also the 1800lp otp in China goes Last Stand because he knows he'll get low every game🤗
What an incredible Qiyana Guide! Thanks Curtis for this extensive analysis of Qiyanas capabilities and mechanics 👍🏻 People will now see me trying out qiyana and miss all my abilities, but at least I know in which order to miss them 😉
Hello Curtis, i just wanted to take my time and give you some feedback over this awesome video since i know you are the type of guy that wants to always improve. First of all, your video has insane amounts of valuable informations and i wish i had this video when i started my qiyana journey. I remember trying qiyana on my plat4 smurf and having a 20% win rate after the first 20 games. Now i am confidend to play this champ on a d4/d3 level. This guide will definetily speed up the qiyana learning process by a lot. Even tho you had very valuable information in this video i think this video (compared to your other videos) was not structured as well as it could have been, probably due to the length of it. For example i thought that your informations were sometimes all over the place ( going from q placement to laning, and then again back to brush q placement). In my opninion it would have been a little better to just start with an ability review where you shortly touch on how to use the abilities, what a good qiyana does different while using q, e, w etc. It wouldve been also great to have the ability identity in this video. Don't get me wrong, this video was still very informative and helpful but as i said i just wanted to leave some constructive feedback. I hope you could understand everything since my english is not that great. Greetings, Moritz ^-^
Or another example: in the guide you already talk about the mid and late game when you first mention the river stun of qiyana, which imo is something very basic that should have been at the start of the video. - especially for a complex champ like qiyana
Glad this video still overall holds up rewatched recently and it helped boost my qiyana gameplay again, still wild there was one point coach said beifeng was sloppy 😂 jokes aside truly a great guide probably my favorite one created for qiyana
I have a small question (I'm sorry if you answered this in the video I'm literally 2 mins in) I like myself some Ekko Jungle and Jungle is my main role, I saw the Qiyana JG buffs coming soon and my question is this Does my knowledge of Ekko from playing him jungle apply to Qiyana like how you said Ekko fizz etc all give you a bit of a boost in playing her. I wanna at least try her jungle because I really don't like mid. Mostly curious more than anything and I'd like to say I great job on the quality of this video! Only 2 mins in but seems like it'll be a 100% quality throughout
That's why I love your constant you do real guide, not like most other that play a game(generally on theyr smurf account) an comment it saying abvious thing and call it a guide, your are guides, a minimum of 40 minutes video is a guide, not a 23 minute game, thank you this type of content I becoming more and more rare in the lol youtube community in favor of the 0 effort gameplay "guide", keep up the good work
Hey Coach Curtis, First of all I would like to start off with a thank you for the content, as you in depth guide have helped me solidify my champion pool. I have a question in relation to AD assassins mid. In your opinion with the Zed nerf in 11.17 does Qiyana dethrone Zed as the best AD assassin?
I’ve been playing Qiyana for about 2 months and this still taught me a lot, I knew the basics ofc, but I think I’ll become much better at maintaining an oppressive lane state, I usually win lane but can’t impact the game as much as I want due to teammates, my timers, or simply if the other team can shut me down. This still helped for sure though
He is not the coach we deserve, but the coach we need. He takes the pain so we dont have to. (until we try to apply the lessons and get our butt kicked because in the end some things can only be learned through blood, sweat and flame)
The first growing pain of learning Qiyana, either you learn the practice tool Q bug or you ult nothing for your entire first game...she's fun in a masochistic kinda way really *a personal drill of mine for learning the value of autos on Qiyana was to max W first against bots (or play AP Qiyana in ARAM), this also opened my eyes to Qiyana's almost absurd turret damage. But my fastest "growth" playing her (and any other overwhelming champion for that matter) was to watch very closely if the enemy picked her, it goes like this: I already know that kit up to a certain point now how do I react when they do x,y,z; are they using the kit in a way I never thought about? etc.
Hello Coach! Thanks to your guides I've fullfilled one of my dreams - I hit gold! So I have the question: do you ever plan on making something like ko-fi account? I'd love to leave some donation as a thank you for the free content you provide.
Man, that's so awesome. I've always been a jungle main but wanted to role swap to mid. I started watching you halfway through last year and you taught me everything I know about mid lane, but my problem was to define a champion pool. After your Viktor and Ekko guides during the pre season, these two became my main champions but Ekko with Nashor's tooth felt so fun that I quickly forgot about Viktor. Eventually I decided to learn a new assassin and chose Qiyana. It was so hard, I gave up so many times but now I feel so comfortable with her, combos come out fluidly and I can make quick decisions with somewhat hard executions. And I feel like that is absolutely thanks to you. Your guides, mostly the Ekko guide, gave me the tools to learn Qiyana and some other champions too. Your guides are really something else. Now it's so cool watching you teach so many things I learned with my experience playing Qiyana, somethings that I knew but couldn't put into words but also new things I never thought about. So thanks once again, coach.
Good job. Very good Guide. I appreciate the time you put into it. I just unlocked Qiyana yesterday, tried her first today and after watching this guide i think this is going to be one of my favorite champions easily. Thanks!
I have been wanting to get back into league and I love that my instinct is to watch some Coach Curtis to get my head in the game. Thanks for the deep knowledge coach! Your Ekko and TF guides in the past took league to another level for me. I hope to find the same with your Qiyana guide, and if nothing else, I know the champ a bit more which is good for understanding her identity. Amazing as always 💜
As an otp rengar I started playing Qiyana 4-5 days ago and I love the champion. I think being proficient on rengar is a GREAT help on how to play qiyana. It helps playing with the terrain, the assassin logic etc
Who is the equivalent to coach Curtis for ADC? I really love your channel man but i main adc right now. Is there anyone u recommend? I ll keep watching u for good info still too
I think it’s also worth noting in the wall jump sections that you can E to scale walls using jungle camps even if you’re on the same side of the wall as the camp because of the E’s fixed distance. Wolves, wraiths, crugs and gromp are all possible to wall jump from inside their pits. It’s harder and takes more practice than with W, but can save your life if your W is down.
Thank you for what you do. We are spoiled with these guides. This is premium content that should require payment, but you do it for free. Much love and support to you.
Impressive guide I'm starting to wonder what question I have about LoL you haven't already answered :D I was looking for qiyana guide & youtube proposed yours to me, it's incredibly well documented also at 57:57 it's spelled "blasé" in french you misspelled the "è" accent (not a big deal, just wanna show off i'm french lul)
I'm 304 games in on Qiyana (44% WR) now and it's fairly miserable. It makes me want to rip my hair out.I only recently found this guide and your review of Beifeng. First off, this guide is great. It helps keep me grounded on what I should be trying to do. Second, this Beifeng guy is insane. I can't even tell what he does in most of his plays. I literally have to slow the playback to see exactly what his combinations are. I can see why he's rank 1 on the server.
Yeah I’ve got like my last 10 games where I’m 7-0 10-3 8-1 ect and can’t seem to carry the game at a certain point . Like I just stop dealing damage to some champs like Camille bruisers tanks and they just take over the game . Or I’m doing really well but not takes over the game at 20 minutes with a 20-0 enemy adc . And I can’t seem to do anything about it . I mostly dominate my lane and lose game every game on qiyana :c even if I roam top and not consistently . Eventually they hit their 1-10 power spike lol it could be my micro , it could be my map awareness , failure to build correct items ect but it’s frustrating for me
Patch 11.18 update, don’t recommend Qiyana right now, atleast for this patch. Her “adjustment” hurt a lot, EQ isn’t good anymore due to such easy counter play, if you wanna play Qiyana play her jungle because missing ur EQ because of the games mechanics (yes, if the enemy has mobility and uses it as u EQ, they will always dodge it, you can’t do anything except wait a second in order to choose where your q goes, but that 1 second is enough to allow champs to leave or kill you. I’m jungle you will be lesser punished because of you not needing to fight as often, she’s decent in jg, but she is C/D tier mid now
this champ is SOOO hard to even get a basic feel of. Thanks for the guide but it is so mechanically intensive and non-intuitive i just dont want to invest the time in just being able to do even basics with her.
It's like fizz but with somewhat like poppy stun? I mean fizz has jump but Q is similar to the jump, it just can be cast 2 times. Also like kindred jump when jumping over walls. So Qiyana sounds like mix of fizz, kindred and poppy to me, and you play it very similar to fizz, with just difference being that nuke you cast 2 times. Can't wait to unlock her.
I don't play Qiyana nor plan to learn her anytime soon but dude you deserve a million dollars for the amount of effort and time for this video my god. You are truly a blessing to the LoL community.
as a control mage main, one champion that truly was a challenge for me, was Yone. Need put a big effort, 300+ games to really understand the beauty of the champion. sylas was similar, but way fast for me 2 understand, maybe pick Yone next time, for one of this amazing guides! haha thanks for the content, rly appreciate!
I'm a low elo qiyana and when I play qiyana I lose virtually every single game. I've played normal games as qiyana (since I know I'll lose) and out of 10 games I won only 1 and lost the 9 others. Should I give up on qiyana until I played the game for longer? She is my favourite champion. But with this guide I think I can do better on her!
This champion is so hard. I've been on and off Qiyana for months and i can't seem to get anywhere with her. Hopefully this guide will help Edit: 2 years later and i've got the Qiyana basics down. 1 thing this guide and the vod reviews have made clear to me is i won't always have the highest dmg/kills. Laning into something like Yasuo or Lux is borderline impossible without jungle help and Qiyana might not even have to stick around and try to outfarm/outlane the opponent. For some reason this guide didn't do much for me when i was learning because i didn't know what any of it meant. For anyone who is like me 2 years ago and wants to play this champ know that it will take time but you can do it. You're gonna lose a lot of games tho but hang in there and learn 1 thing at a time in the practice tool
