In this video I explain the various ways you can control the fade in and fade out timing of lighting scenes including blackouts.
QLC+ is an excellent open source lighting control program that works with Windows PCs, Macs and Linux. In this video tutorial I am using the Windows PC version 4.12.7. You can find more information about the program here: www.qlcplus.org/
Please consider donating to the creators as a program like this would cost several hundred dollars if it were not open source.
I also maintain a website for community theater techs where I provide some information and resources for controlling lighting, audio and using show control in theater productions. My website can be found here:
comutinytech.com/TheaterTech/
In the tutorial video I mention creating a cue list in QLC+. Here is the link to that video: • Pt 5 QLCplus Cue List
Also in the tutorial video I mention using the timing widget. You can find that video here: • Speed Dial Widget Cont...

We should maintain a list of valuable videos somewhere in the forum ... Had a discussion yesterday pointing out the timing priority at the chaser level.

I think that is a great idea. I am all about helping as many people as possible understand how great this software is. There are so many community theater and other performing groups out there that could benefit from using it.

Hi mate can you do one where you plug a lighting desk into QLC?

Iam not sure that I understand your question? Are you talking about a lighting desk that outputs DMX? If so, QLC+ does not have a way of recording DMX data that it is receiving. Some lighting consoles do have a way of recording DMX so you could output DMX data from QLC+ and have your lighting desk then record that data so that the desk could play it back. If you are talking about a lighting desk "wing" then that is a different story. Some lighting desk "wings" are proprietary meaning that they will only work when connected with specific software designed by a specific manufacturer. QLC+ will work with the ENTTEC Palyback Wing and the ENTTEC Shortcut Wing and has profiles built in to work with these devices. Primarily QLC+ works with devices that either output MIDI or OSC data so you can use MIDI and OSC devices to control QLC+. Can you give me more information? What exact lighting desk are you thinking about connecting? Ed Richards

@@edwardrichards7722 yep so I have a fat frog lighting desk and I need to get it to link with QLC but not sure how. I have a enttec and it has 2 out outs and one input. But what I was asking is if there’s a way to get this to work with QLC?

Hello So I am still wondering why you want to connect your Fat Frog console to QLC+? QLC+ is a lighting console program which would replace your Fat Frog console. The only thing you need for QLC+ to output DMX is either a USB DMX Interface like this: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DMXUSBPro--enttec-dmx-usb-pro-512-ch-usb-dmx-interface Or an ArtNet Interface like this: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DMXAN2--chauvet-dj-dmx-an-2-art-net-sacn-node-ethernet-to-2-dmx-universe I would opt for the ArtNet interface since the computer running QLC+ would communicate with the interface via WiFi network so the computer and interface do not have to be close to each other. It also seems that USB DMX interfaces are being discontinued in favor of ArtNet. QLC+ could read DMX information from your Frog Console and display it but it would not be of much use. It cannot activate any of the faders, buttons, cue list or any other widgets in the QLC Virtual console. If you want a tactile surface with buttons, knobs and faders to use with QLC+ then I would recommend something like this: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LaunchContXLBK--novation-launch-control-xl-controller-for-ableton-live You can assign the buttons, knobs and faders on this device to control buttons, knobs and faders in QLC+ using Midi. You did mention that you have an ENTTEC with two outs and one in. Can you be more specific. Is it a DMX interface? Or a playback wing? Or a programming wing? Ed Richards
