I am not a real fan of this band. But I listened to the valley. And that record struck a chord with me. I basically went through the same thing growing up. I was 17 my mom died of alcoholism. My dad had me at 62. So by the time I was 12 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He died when I was 19, I’ve been on my own since I was 17. Phil gets it. Time doesn’t heal it, it never leaves you. It doesn’t get easier, you just deal. And now my band has been slowly making the name I’ve hoped it would.

I'm 18 and have never had a father that was there for me and my mother has been sick mentally and physically with cancer since I was 10, therefore not being capable of being there for me. Seeing someone who I look up to live a similar tragedy plagued life is a great inspiration.

Music is romanticized. Not a lot of people understand this and you can express yourself through many ways. You are a strong man Phil, very strong. Filled with purpose and ability. Don't loose sight of the light and don't delve on the dark.

Damn Phil, never though that you have had such rough life. To be straight honest, I personally though that you just splat with brutality and get some cash from it, little did I know. Now when I've been following your channel for a while, I've seen that you're pretty similiar guy as I am. Everything that you told about not giving up 'cause of tragedies is pure truth, I can sign that one as I did paralyze from chest down a the age of 13 with 50/50 survival rate but this same mentality helped me to get through + my dad had grown me with metal music my whole life so it was pretty huge deal as I could and can suppress my rage on vocals and brutal music. Great video man!

My mom does everything for me, like not in an immature way, she's supported me through everything, even when i went through a suicidal phase even when i got jumped and attacked a lot in middle school, she tried to take me out of school and home school me, and i would've pulled out of school if it wasn't for my piece of shit dad. He's never really supported me. His idea of a family was to get married have kids and get that shit over with. But i'd rather not go into that because it's pretty complicated. I got into metal from listening to 5 finger death punch, and from there it progressed to more heavier bands. Eventually i got into chimaira and it sparked inspiration to create my own band. I'm currently trying to get recording equipment, and if all goes well, we might have the heaviest underground band in kentucky.

Update on everything since this post: My musical style has shifted heavily from Metal to Hardcore like Knocked Loose, Kublai Khan, Nails, Full of Hell (except the last two are more Metal than Hardcore despite being heavily involved in Hardcore), etc. It's more really aggressive Hardcore with blast beats, tremolo riffing, heavy slams, and two steps mosh parts. I haven't been able to get everything done because of everything going on lately, but I have a few friends that are certainly interested in being a part of said band and I'm currently working on a demo with songs that I wrote ranging from a year to three years ago. As soon as this virus crap ends I'm gonna get the guys together and we're gonna try and play some stuff, even thought about posting live practice session and posting them here on RU-vid. 🤔

(Late to the party here, found your channel through a reddit rabbit hole) anyway I have a ton of love and respect for you! it's really hard growing up with a parent with mental health issues and drug addiction issues. Without going into detail I had an extremely bad childhood (I still don't talk about it much) but I realized the past doesn't own me. I still dwell and struggle some days (almost 2 years now since my mom passed) but I have a good husband and 5 wonderful children. Picking yourself up and continuing on is a must and finding something to keep you strong is important too

@Phillybo1985 I started revisiting some of your videos as I do listen to whitechapel and want to sing/scream/growl. I just clicked on this video out of curiosity, and thought that I'd share that I am literally in Rehab for mental health issues and some addiction issues, this is sooo inspirational and is motivating to put my life together, fight through this and one day be in place like yourself, sing and write awesome music and share your thoughts with the world and help others along the way.

I've had a dream of being in a band ever since I got into heavier music by listening to Suicide Silence. I later got into more bands like Chelsea Grin, Carnifex, and Whitechapel and from there on just got deep into deathcore while listening to some more traditional death metal on the side. But I basically just love deathcore and all these bands are just so great that I can't even pick favorites. I plan on practicing guitar when I get the chance since I'm too shy for vocals. Its a dream I'd like to achieve more than anything but the thing is that college, as important as it may be for my future, is probably gonna get in the way. But I'll try not to give up on this dream and I'll see what I can do. You're an awesome man Phil. You got another subscriber \m/

your music helps me continue living, i started doing toilet bowl gutterals and screaming instead of just singing and rap, and now thats all i do because it takes all the pressure in my head away, you litterally saved my life, one thing i want to say is that your style of singing is my favorite and i want to take it just like it is and send positive messages about love by making the lyrics about every type of person thats fucking this world up for me and society, love is the greatest thing in the world and i just want people to understand that... forcfully, im also a skateboarder i skate handrails and ledge and play guitar too, but i need to get this pressure out of my head and the warmth in my chest out, because im putting everything on that chest feeling, i just had my first child and i really want to make his life special by being able to provide for him at the same time doing what i love cause it really dose save my life, youll be seeing my name more often because i swear im going to get good and hopfully some day ill be able to meet you and show you what my soul looks like from the inside by letting it out through music, just so you know, its not a pretty picture, but its just a matter of perspective.
