I just found your channel after watching a few videos on the QSP Penguin. Being left handed myself, the ambidextrousness of any knife weighs much more heavily on my choice than many other factors. I plan on getting a Penguin soon, and look forward to more "sinister" takes on the knife world from you.
Carried the D2/denim micarta Penguin for last couple years. Own over 100 knives of all types and values. The Penguin is one of my favorite edc knives of all time. Purchased the Knifecenter exclusive in S35VN about a month ago. It replaced the D2. Own the Elementum as well, even bought my sister one, but the Penguin is a superior edc folder in my opinion. Of course I carry one in my right pocket as well and it's usually a Spyderco, Benchmade, Civivi, Kizer and many others. It changes weekly or so. The Penguin stays in my left pocket always.
QSP is a very nice knife for lefties, has bearings and very slicey blade, but in los Angeles a 3" blade is the limit, and the Elementum is thinner overall and the ergonomics are so much nicer for EDC in my opinion.
I have both. Good knives! Both are solid. I don’t use pocket clips on most of my knives. Penguin is a good scraper. Elementum is very pokey and slicey. The Elementum blade (mine is Damascus) tastes better than the Penguin blade. Does anyone else notice and consider the taste of steels? I use my knives to slice and eat food, so I notice. Weird, I know.
I totally know what you are talking about. LC200N for food, especially acidic foods is so clean. But my super slicey carbon blades give off the opinel funk.
Totally understand what u r saying. Down here in Brazil a friend of mine showed me the difference in the flavor when u use a carbon steel or a damascus instead of stainless steel. As far as I recall, the meat tasted salty.
I'm right handed and have both these knives. My Elementum is the s35vn version. I prefer the Penguin. Even though it runs on washers, my Penguin has much nicer than my Elementum. I dunno, maybe I got a rare Civivi lemon. The bearings feel rough and make more noise than any other Civivi I own. I even tried swapping out the Elementum's bearings with the ones from my Baklash, but it didn't help at all. Doesn't touch the smoothness of the Penguin. I also much prefer the feel of the micarta on the Penguin. It's a bit gripier. I still like the Elementum though. It cuts beautifully. That said, my Civivi Statera has amazing action & ergos. Could not be smoother.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the login password. I love any help you can offer me!
@Michael Jefferson Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
To me, I have to give it the Penguin solely based on the fact that its on washers and is everybit as drop shut as the Elementum which runs on bearings!
I hate when flipper knives pop open in my pocket I got a really good cut one time too when I was reaching for my wallet and I started spewing blood everywhere lmao
I'm gonna be honest and try not to say this with disrespectful undertones ....if you feel the clip on either of the knives .....you don't use your hands enough ....build up some calluses gents!
