This is so classy. However, the way this player twitches his camera to "Godlike aiming" is beyond anything I've ever landed on a speed match.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Great Run.
quake is my guilty pleasure in my gaming history. I own it very much on every system I have and where available. I played it a lot and I still remember the moment it was released, mind blowing. But this movement here and precision is absolutely stunning!
Seems like there are still some stuttering issues with the recording so I'll probably reupload this video one last time and hopefully the stutters will be fixed.
I always find myself coming back to this run. It's super impressive and really entertaining to watch! My love for Quake probably has something to do with it as well lol
If you're patient, I'll be getting back to Nightmare 100% in a few months, I have some strategies I want to implement which should knock the times down by a minute or more!
Interesting that this is the first speedrun i have seen with "mistakes". The missed grenade jump at 14:30 seemed notable. It makes sense though that some missteps are acceptable in a marathon nightmare 100% run. It's still an insanely impressive run.
When I discovered the trial version of quake online in the 90s it was like I had found a wormhole to another time and place. It was so exciting. I miss it but I'm older now and going back to it I know wouldn't be the same.
More frenetic than the intro-demo itself of the game in the menu. Totally love it. But removing the damage display when you get hit, is more a facilitator than just an aesthetic change. But anyway well done.
How do you get your movement and mouse movement to be so smooth? What settings do you typically play with? I have trouble bhoping and moving in Quake; everything feels stiff
1250 DPI, 1.0 sensitivity, 1000hz polling rate. I use QCK mousepads since I prefer the slighty higher friction, and I think I had a Glorious Model O when I recorded this run. I don't think it's stiff, you should try some modern multiplayer shooters and you'll see Quake gives you way more freedom in movement.
I wonder if this is even possible on Xbox Live Game Pass Quake since on Nightmare difficulty you're capped at 50 health no matter what. Very nice run though!
@@MutyThat's interesting, because it's summoned by taking the green armor in the version I have - as in the following video at 5:45 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b_MzIkLlK6Q.html%3Ft%3D345&t=345
@@mrkastomizer Huh. Thing is that I'm not sure what the remaster changed about the OG Quake. JoeQuake is based on glQuake, with strict vanilla settings at 72 FPS maximum. I know of only one bug that is fixed in this sourceport with Qdqstats, which is the statue bug. I'm certain if you tried this with something other than the remaster it would work.
man played this back in the day online capture ther flag was fun firt team based online game play\.running pentium2 i think was a slot cpu ;ike gpu i snow.and without typing +mlook in the command console mouse would only be left to right no up and down
Very simple. Second shambler teleports in on top of the first shambler, first shambler gets telefragged by it, and I telefrag the second shambler. See? Easy.
It's JoeQuake, the graphics are not OG but the actual core physics code is, it's the PREFERRED mod for speedrunning. I don't like the "detail textures" look (too much like OG Unreal/Tournament) myself, but the gameplay is 100% faithful to the OG Quake code.
Let me guess, you think I'm not supposed to have more than 50 base HP on Nightmare difficulty because Remaster says so, right? This is the original Quake where you can.
@@Muty yeah, after a bit of research I found out they changed the difficulty on thr remastered, I thought it was like in doom 3 with health below 25hp and quake 50hp
That video is a collection of different player's records on single map runs. Not a single segment full run of just 1 person. Look video description The runner's name is even mentioned in the video at start of each map
Good question; Apparently Ranger's name is unknown, but however when I looked him up (in the game) his name popped up as "Bob". Is Quake's name actually "Bob"?
