What's mind blowing is that they shoot the scenes in 2012 probably finishes it in 2013 and then 5 years of editing tweaking and shit BOOM *masterpiece*
lol no, they only shot the scenes for the tech demo. It was just a concept then, only later after seeing the viral success of the demo, did they decide to make it into a full game and started production late 2013
Fishdick Slutbuck lol no, it's not because viral success of the demo... they were actually just got inspired by it, they already got powerful engine back then but PS3 can't handle it yet so they downgraded their engine for the PS3 tech demo, after that PS4 came out and they're finally starting to write the script... it took 3 years for them to write the script and they finished with 2 thousand pages, not to mention hundreds of note pages. After that they shoot the scenes, mocap, etc. for 2 years and a year for editing and stuff, boom.
you dont really have all the facts straight. david cage never planned on making it into full game, he wanted to but didnt know if he should yet, because it was still just a concept and he was still writing the initial 2k page script (which btw, only took him a year, which he did on the side while working on beyond two souls). only After the tech demo and its amazing fan response, did he get inspired to actually make it into a full game and started preproduction late 2013. they spent 3 years designing/programming the game and making adjustments!!! to the script (they werent actively writing it for 3 freakin years, only making changes through the development). final screenplay was done in october 2016 and thats when motioncapturing started, which was finished in september 2017 (only 324 days not 2 years). Then they spent the rest of the time editing mocap/polishing game (till 23 april 2018, so editing for 6 months not a year). Basically, game was in development for 4 years and a couple months, not 6-6.5 like you are stating. And they never downgraded their engine (when is a game engine ever downgraded???!? only the games are downgraded). The kara tech demo was actually made in 2011, a year before its release at e3 2012, it was made with the beyond two souls engine, but in its early stages (which ps3 most definitely could handle) to show off the new motion capture technologies coming in beyond two souls . Become human uses a completely new and different engine. and i just wasted a bunch of time writing this shit, hopefully it was informative
this was just a tech demo from quantic dreams, at this time they where working on beyond two souls till late 2013. this demo was just a concept, only later did they decide to make it into a game
Aifa Rusydina you’re disappointed just because she didn’t speak in multiple fucking languages? You’re joking. Her acting as the character is a whole lot more important than speaking some language for a minute.
they started making the game 6 years ago? i had no idea holy hell, but i'm glad they did what a great game, it is probably one of my favourite games of all time
A complex story like detroit needs time, they started working on Kara/ Detroit become human just after the release of Heavy Rain, even before Beyond two souls was released. Maybe David Cage is already working on the next story, who knows..
They didn't start working on it right away. Kara was just an animated short, but people loved it so much that they decided to make a whole game around this concept
@dinar3run she really is DAMN cute! pure natural beauty. what stuns me most though is the fact that her "in-game" version looks EXACTLY like her in real life. from looks to movement to mimik and specially the "soul" in her eyes.
No kara had to cut her hair so she wasnt recognizable as her original model since they all had the same hair. As you see the actress had her hair covered during the making of it. Her hair didnt matter to the actual character. But i do semi agree with you but i think they make have took inspiration of how kara looked after cutting her hair from the actress.
The craziest part about this to me is the fact that when she first auditioned for the role of Kara, she was 25. Valorie recently turned 33 at the time this comment was posted. That is absolutely insane to me how much time has passed since the making of this short film compared to when Detroit: Become Human released in 2018.
Just thinking about how much they worked on a small film makes me tear up, they all did amazing and it's great to see what Kara has become. This beautiful android lead to such heart-warming game, thank you, Valorie.
Dude, Kara's acting is so on the spot that what she said when she was emotional really got to be hard on the heart. I really felt it. And the fact that she is with Alice, even more emotion. I miss them.
Same. Spoilers ahead for those who haven’t played the story yet. ❌❌❌ I cried like a little girl with my ending of Kara, Luther and Alice. We were taking the boat across the icy river to Canada where the Coast Guard open-fired on us where Alice started sobbing with Luther saying his last words before shutting down. Then as wounded Kara you throw Luther and the engine off to reduce the boat from sinking, dive into the water to push the boat towards the Canadian side where once you land, you help Alice off the boat, fall on your knees where both Kara and Alice are crying with Alice saying “You promised to be with me” before shutting down as Kara with that smile. Powerful enough to make a grown man cry. I just wanted the best for Alice, Luther and Kara to live happily ever after in Canada. 😭😭
Still got chills...I feel like VAs don't get the recognition they deserve, games have evolved so much and doing this kind of acting, without any props or visual ques is incredibly difficult. So big props to her!
My mom was watching The Following and a kidnapper was played by Valorie. I knew I saw her from somewhere. Couple days ago I was eating cereal and I just shouted KARA
I remember how I cried with this demo, Valorie is amazing. I was so happy when Detroit came out and Kara was in it, that it actually turned into a game!
Everytime I hear 4:00-4:17 I get tears in my eyes and goosebumps! I love this game, I never thought a game could make me cry of joy, sadness or fear... 10/10!
I finished my first play-through recently and I’m in love with QT Kara/Valorie. Unfortunately I had a bad ending for Kara, Luther and Hank thus required to re-play this masterpiece, hope for a better ending. 😁
I gotta say Valerie nailed her role in Detroit: Become Human. Not a lot of things hit me in the feels but the Kara and Alice's story gave me a freaking emotional sucker-punch.
13 years later... No matter how many times I see either the BTS or the actual PS3 engine sequence, the moment Kara says "I'm scared!"... Niagara Falls. Such a fantastic work of art.
More than 100 actresses were auditioned. Valorie Curry was the diamond in the rough that turned this tech demo into a gaming phenomenon. We all love Brian/Connor, but we need to remember her acting is what started DBC.
Holy gosh this is AMAZING LIKE were here in 2019 everybody LOVES THIS GAME but I was shocked that you actually PLAYED like this not as pc and things GOOD JOB
