@@st4tistic there is this one video where the guy showed us all the possibilities of the paintings markus could paint if you choose a certain decision and at the end of each painting Carl says oh mah gawhd again and again and again and my reaction to it was oh my god
@@rottenbutterfly111 I think this is the Kara in the story, correct me if wrong. When you can check the character avatars, it says in Kara's description "Legend says Kara whispered the name to Alice", or something similar to that. It all lines up.
Khamlue No no this model of Kara was found in the dump where Markus ended up, it was obvious because she was singing the exact same song in Japanese as she did in this video. She was obviously deviant here, which probably led to her being dismantled and taken to the dump. That’s where she starts singing “Sakura” in a broken, disoriented voice. I’m pretty sure the game makers clarified it somewhere, I’ll try find it for you
@@yuzuhiko606 actually no, there is another comment on here explaining that the Kara in the video really is the same one in the videogame. The one found in the junkyard is there because the game devs wanted to make reference to this video, but make no mistake...this is our Kara.
Damn, 10 years later and that line: "I've only just been born!, You can't kill me yet!.." It still gives me chills, there is so much emotion in those 10 words and it means so much, the voice actress did an amazing job back then and in the actual game, what a masterpiece.
I still have to play it. Quantic Dream games are emotional roller coasters. Lol And the idea of the little girl getting killed is just..I know it can be prevented but that’s like ME causing it if I make the wrong choice.
Düşünsene bu videodaki robot söylüyor dediklerini, lakin savaşlarda milyonlarca bebek ve çocuk ölüyor ve o satırları söyleyemeden yok olup gidiyorben daha yeni doğdum, beni daha öldüremezsin...
From a filmmaking perspective this is pretty impressive. This all took place in 1 room with only 2 characters (and only 1 of them is on screen). The story was still really good despite the simplicity
@@maxchasm5476 I don't think so. He is behaving 100% like a human and is actually thinking. Androids don't behave that way "normally" while his behavior seems like it's intended still, so that he's a deviant doesn't make sense. Also the fact that he "starts a recording" and is very surprised that an android can think, makes this pretty clear that he can't be an android
Okay but… is NO ONE gonna talk about Kara’s voice actor? I mean the emotion, the dynamics. How was some of the best voice acting I’ve heard in a seven minute clip???
This was made 11 years ago? It's amazing! The animation, the writing, and oh my god the voice acting. "Please don't kill me yet I'm scared" made me feel emotional for Kara. Finding out that this Kara is the same one from DBH makes it even better
I saw it at that time back then I was amazed by the video and year later beyond released and I was disappointed but thank good without beyond failure the never released Kara as Detroit become human
@CandyPLAYS! What?? They all happen at the exact same time unless a prominent time skip was mentioned. Kara and Alice escaping through the road as Hank and Conner try and catch them The entirety of anytime a characters a Jericho BASICALLY THE LAST HALF OF THE GAME
11 years later and the words "I'm scared" and "I want to live" Still are the most heart breaking words Kara says in this short. And this is coming from someone who most times lacks emotion towards others, so thats sayin something.
It’s says your fucked up if you feel more compassionate for fictional characters than flesh and blood real life humans. Which is funny when u think abt it.
The moment she says stop all you hear is a heartbeat. no music, no machinery moving, not even the guy breathing. all you hear is her heartbeat. and its beautiful.. so human.
@@Savenya_Amari Of course they were in Kara’s prospective, but the actress acting here was so on point that I honestly shed a tear while watching it when it was released on my own. And I swear that’s a hard thing to happen for me as I shed tears once a year at most.
Connor: "Tell me, how does Deviancy spread?" Kamski: "I spared an AX400 that became a Deviant as soon as she was created and released her to the public market." Connor: "Oh."
@@s4yorii586 Most likely, yeah. Of course, the voices might not match but this is a teaser 3 years before development even started on Detroit so Kamski's actual VA wasn't there.
It’s been 10 years and I keep coming back to this, imagine being the guy who was assembling her and she just yells at you that she is scared. Man you just can’t think right cause if the android can feel then she is alive and you’re basically murdering her but if you don’t then it could be the start of something that could possibly bring about a disaster. That choice man, there is no right choice there especially when you hear her beg you not to be killed saying she was just born like man that hits hard
Surely I'm not the only one who comes back to watch this every once in a while? I don't know why but it still moves me to this day. The emotion in her voice when she begs for her life seems almost real. Better than most Hollywood actors I've seen.
Honestly this man who let Kara go is amazing. I know technically his job wasn't this and he most likely got fired (I assume that a place like this have cams everywhere but who knows) but he was one of the first one who took pity on a android with human emotions as far as we know even if not Canon. There could have been a chance he would mess up with letting her go around but in all honesty even if Kara was destroyed at the start self aware androids that start a Revolution would exist anyway even without her since it's unknown how they become self aware.
@@Exxap-xt9ke most likely so remember there is a bunch of versions of each android there is multiple of kara but with different names to suit each family they probably got it destroyed for being a deviant while kara got to live while being a deviant by escaping the house with the little girl so yes its most likely an easter egg
I remember stumbling upon this video randomly a few years ago and something about it kept me remembering it from time to time. I'm so happy to see it finally turned into an amazing and beautiful game.
this game deserves a sequel! i love this game so much, the story of kara is the best. if i was a multimillionaire i would really have Kara imitated such a beautiful and handsome woman and a gentle sweet character. every guy dreams of kara's charakters
Holy moly. It's been an unbelievable 12 years... and it still looks good and hasn't lost any of its message. Even though I've seen it several times over the years, it still evokes strong emotions.
@@JuanGonzalez-bl5dz .... bruh are you kidding? This was one of the first trailers, just saying the game was in the making. This video came before the actual game.
RossenX modern technology gets it's price lowered over time, Androids were worth a fortune when they were the next big thing in technology, But as time went by they just became an everyday necessity
seeing her be given life was beautiful... her cries for help were haunting, and the relief i felt when she was put back together... i'm glad she was given new life in the form of a game after this prototype. maybe one day we will meet her?
I remember when this demo first released. Coming soon after the release of Heavy Rain, comments flooded asking if this would become a game and Quantic Dream denied it would be, as they were working on Beyond: Two Souls. Eventually, we would receive this lovely game called Detroit: Become Human.
"I'VE ONLY JUST BEEN BORN, YOU CAN'T KILL ME YET!!" During this part, the most ironic thing is that Kara, the android, sounds more emotional and human than whoever is disassembling her.

Beautiful sentiment, and guaranteed what they were going for, but this is 100% a tech demo for Detroit: Become Human. There is 0% chance they weren't already far into development of that game when doing this.
@@SimonWoodburyForget in the end it was inspired enough to keep the same name for a character. they probably reflected back to what they once made and thought it would cool to name it(the female game character) kara, and that is what makes this cool as in an idea of a servant robot in short "becoming human" carried forward for so many generations by the same people. even though they probably never thought this would become a game.
I remember watching this when it was first shown thinking "This is way too ambitious and will never happen." fast forward a decade later and I'm playing Detroit Become Human on a tablet and asking Alexa to order more hot pockets.
That song's name is Sakura(Cherry Blossoms), and in the opening scene of DBH, some cherry blossom trees are growing in some scenes. This song was also used as a theme song of a boxer named Piston Hondo in the Nintendo boxing game Punch - OUT!! series.
DragonborN7 Well, he’s just the leader. And Conner could also become the leader just sayin’. Ra9 is what they think is an amazing android, the first deviant. She is the first deviant. Markus just joined it and became the leader, he was quite a new deviant when he joined it.
The freakiest part of this video for me was that Kara was made in 2032 and this video was made in 2012. The game came out in 2018 and took place in 2038, both 6 years apart.
I remember my dad showing me this when it first came out. I thought it was so cool-the animation and rendering was incredible. Then 6 years later I watched JackSepticEye’s play through of Detroit : Become Human. “My name is Kara.” Vietnam war flashbacks.
Lol I would've also watched Jacks playthrough or Pewds one, but I just gotta play it on my own, I watched Pewds Heavy Rain and Beyond 2 Souls thinking "I'll probably never get enough money for a ps4 to play it myself why not just watch it" and now I've already played both. Now I don't even watch there playthroughs for games I'm planning to get... even though I'm so tempted to watch it
Bruh, I recently bought DBH on pc and as I realized that this trailer was the "prototype" tech they used for the game, I was shocked how far technology has advanced. This trailer amazed me when it came out, and now the game is giving me the same vibe, but better.
The terrible implication of this being confirmed to be our game kara is that she was deviant and concious when Todd first beat her and had her repaired. So she wanted to live so bad and was viciously murdered by the same dude over and over. That's so fucked up.
Not really: When Marcus is in the dumpster trying to find pices to fix himself you can find literally this model of Kara with short hair all broken singing the Japanese song distorted, to then deactivate and die. A little Easteregg that breaks your heart.
I saw this when it first came out, but only recently played Detroit Become Human and it blew my mind. Chloe in particular, as she slowly becomes more self aware as the game progresses, to the point where she visibly struggles to keep it together, obviously distracted by her own inner workings. Just brilliant.
Detroit Become Human was a goddamn masterpiece. I remember seeing this video years before they released the game. To see Kara slowly transition from a conscious AI to a protective mother was an emotional journey.
I like how the intro was like "hey this is totally, like, not based on a game we're making or anything ahaha" then years later, they make the goddamn game...
It originally wasn't supposed to though. People just showed a hell of a lot of interest in this video when they released it. When this video was first uploaded, the comment section was literally filled with just "I wish this was a game!" And other similar comments.
Oh the emotions I felt watching this! I've already been playing the game but didn't know about this short until I was looking up to see if any links between detroit becoming human and the TV series humans. So glad I found this through reading about my search ❤️❤️❤️
coming back to this 11 years later just makes me tear up. the voice acting is so powerful, and even though the graphics look odd in today’s context, they were absolutely revolutionary for the time. then the actual game came out and they were even better. i love this game so much. ideologically it’s just such an interesting concept and they did so much with it.
kaRA9 the first Deviant. The QA guy had only one job. To reset the android if there was a problem. He didn't and that one act will probably lead to the machines wiping out humanity with dirty bombs. YOU HAD ONE JOB !
Jami Yeah that means you'd be dead. And me, and everyone else that's alive. I really hate those people that are like "It wouldn't be that bad if humans were all killed or wiped out". It's such a retarded way of thinking. Us humans created this "greater life form" so it shouldn't be trying to exterminate us, or replace us.
I don't want to die and I don't want anyone to die, but in this dystopia where androids are forced to use dirty bombs to preserve their existence the humans deserve it. And just because we created it doesn't mean we have the right to destroy it. You can't kill your children either. Why is it any different?
Also, the person "building" the androids "factory reset" her or something, so she doesn't remember those first experiences. But yeah, I guess she's always had deviant tendencies.
Tamia Maryland what a coincidence that there are two different androids named kara. kara isn't the name of the androids themselves, it's AX400. people can name their androids, so...
rA9: First to awaken (Kara) rA9: One to save us all (Markus) rA9: One to free us all (Connor) All depend on if you are peaceful with Markus and deviant with Connor
Actually David cage says that he hasn't picked an re9 but if you want to pick your own. David cage said that if he had to pick anyone it would probably Markus or Chloe . Kamski made Markus especially for Carl and Chloe for himself and he needed to prove that one of his Androids could pass the Turing test. Which Chloe was the first one to pass the Turing test.(it proves true sentience (or that you are sapient being).
