We discuss the universe, physics, and his scientific views. Bob Doyle is the Information Philosopher. He's had a whirlwind career, from Brown to Harvard to NASA, and left a massive mark on the 1970s handheld electronic gaming industry. He's an astrophysicist who's written four books and runs the incredible website informationphilosopher.com.

Wow, I discovered the Information Philosopher site a few years ago and now came across this interview with Bob! Carlos, you did a fabulous job there, in a very sublte and humane way. Definitely following you now... Keep going man, people like you keep the lights on in this world. Thanks!

The law of entropy only operates within spacetime. Spacetime is not fundamental (Nima, Ed Witten, David Gross). Hence, the law of entropy is not fundamental.

I'm open to those fellows being right (and am a huge fan of Donald Hoffman, who would agree), but I then have to consider that most physicists aren't yet on the same page that spacetime isn't fundamental. So I try to balance their cutting edge stuff with some of these longer held, more empirically backed concepts - the second law of thermodynamics/entropy being pretty ironclad.

@@Carlos.Explains The physicist can never see the invisible aphysical formless existence of the omnipotent static field that coexists with the invisible atoms which become matter that are visible. The soul or life atom needs to be understood as non physical but also static as the Omnipotent field . The soul is active in motion and information is what it is gaining by understanding. We can discuss more any time Carlos 🙏🙏🙏

@2:24:00 It seems Bob Doyle’s argument that conservation of momentum accounts for entanglement climaxes at this time in the video where he argues that the space-like separated particles are alternating their spins in their superposed state: when A is up, B is down and vice versa. The huge error Bob is making here is that they don’t need to be measured at the same time. If you measure A as spin up, then B is fixed down no matter how much later in the future B is measured. So something needs to immediately influence B to be spin down and B must stop alternating spin Bob supposed it was doing before A was measured. Thus a non local influence is still required in this setup.

When did Information begin.?....An Amazing question Carlos.

At the base is the Atom. The physical and the sentient. Anything smaller than that is not in order. Everything is made up of atoms. Such clarity and I would love to explain the role of human beings on this planet in light of this remarkable knowledge.

Does the temperature of the ray from the sun be the same as it is on the outermost layer of the Sun and the outermost layer of the Atmosphere on the planet earth. As the space inbetween is just there with no friction and any impediment.

Is entropy a continuation of the moving from apparent chaos and incoherence after the Big Bang to the ever increasing degrees of order we see today?
@imaginaryuniverse632
@imaginaryuniverse632 Год назад
Should we assume that apparent chaos became coherent by chance?
@Carlos.Explains
@Carlos.Explains Год назад
@@imaginaryuniverse632 Entropy is probably most easily understood as "things tend toward disorder." Though it has more to do with how many microstates can explain a macrostate. There are a few types of entropy and surely differences between them. To your second point, (spontaneous?) self-organization within disorder is something I want to cover in a future video. :)
@imaginaryuniverse632
@imaginaryuniverse632 Год назад
@@Carlos.Explains Yes it is just my opinion that what is referred to as increasing disorder is really increasing order. Like many solar systems organizing from the remains of a massive sun after a supernova I see as an evolution of the sun into a greater order even though more complex. I used to believe the Universe was material and consciousness emerged from a material beginning by chance but the evidence strongly suggests, in my opinion, that consciousness is the foundation of all that appears as the Universe. Einstein said imagination is more important than knowledge I believe in part because he knew his formula E equals MC2 is the formula for the transformation of energy into the appearance of matter which is the formula for imagination. I think it's obvious that consciousness is the only thing present in the Universe with the ability to change anything from it's otherwise inevitable position. I have yet to find any reason to believe that there has ever been another thing with this ability even before the Big Bang. It seems impossible but the theory that consciousness emerges from a chance spontaneous gathering of atoms seems way more impossible to me especially when we consider how easily we can find evidence that consciousness is fundamental. We channel energy and transform it every time we speak. We receive a cue to speak and then just start speaking. We can usually speak quite quickly and quite correctly without giving much thought at all to what we will say other than the beginning. Imagine a beach and a beach will appear with all the fixings. The energy which compromises our dreams is exactly the same as our waking energy. These are examples of energy and not consciousness but a banana has 98% the same atoms as we do but is not likely 98% as conscious. 👍

@@Carlos.Explains In Existential Reality there is order. On this planet other than homo sapiens everything else is in order. Humanity will understand and be in order 🙏🙏

The purpose and raisin detre of all life...even plant life....is to maximize disorder in the universe over a fixed time when there is a natural energy gredient and natural barriers (local but not global minima). Paradoxically, this requires an organize agent to accomplish...so local order and morwdisorder are produced

"its hard enough writing a computer program, let alone the Universe" - Bob "Raw Dawg" Doyle. I am now a Doyle convert. The only adage is that the cosmos do communicate with us purposefully it's just not in the form of language or logic... it's in the form of dance. Ergo the communication of the Sun, Earth, Moon and stars is purposeful... because with them dancing it bred us: More purposeful agents. Without the Sun spinning in place (relative to me) doing it magical Sun dance.... I wouldn't be able to function or exist. I like to argue the precision of words. ;) Cheers.
