In the first season, it's said that POC are more welcomed after the marriage of queen charlotte and king george, so it makes sense that in this period of the bridgerton universe that racism is still common.

Whatever the actual issue was, we start to see signs of it here in this spinoff, but when we see him as an older man, it’s clear that his situation has gotten worse and he often doesn’t recognize himself or Charlotte. All of this is based on the real King George III and records of his symptoms. As you progress through the series, you’ll see that there wasn’t much understanding of mental illness back then, and the methods for “treatment” were often barbaric and basically torture.

22:20 Because even though if she and George die they will inherit the throne, but if they die without children then there will be no direct heir to the throne and then there'd be confusions and arguments and even wars over which distant cousin inherits the throne now (England had to do that several times, call on instant cousins as soon as they run out of kings and queens, that's the only claim the Tudors had and the only claim the Stuarts had - and when he Stuarts became too catholic for England they went and found protestant relatives in a another country and had them battle each other until the protestant side won). I think she's absolutely made up her mind not to die until at least three of them have given her grandchildren so that the one won't be thrown into chaos after she dies. She's done her job - she's done more than her fair share when it comes to keeping the line intact. From her perspective they are all slacking, and when you've done more than your fair share it's easy to be annoyed with those whom you think are slacking off. So basically what's she's telling them is to stop lazing about and get on with it.

Actually, you are right. When Charlotte and George die, their first born son or daughter will inherit the throne, and if their first born son or daughter died without a legitimate heir, then one of Charlotte's other children will inherit the throne, but this scenario could lead to family infighting, because each of the surviving children could lay claim to the throne. In Bridgerton, if Anthony never had a son but Benedict did, Benedict's son would be the next viscount. So in this episode, Charlotte's oldest daughter who was heir to the throne died during child birth, and her child died too. If only the eldest daughter had died but her baby had lived, then there would be no problem.
Queen Charlotte was German. In the show she speaks English bc the show is in English but in real life she didn’t speak a word of English and went from Germany straight to her wedding.

6:06 Charlotte and George had 15 children, the 13 mentioned here are the ones who survived. They either have not married or have married but have had no children with their spouses. Either way, they (most likely her sons) have had children resulting from affairs, but not from marriage so they're not recognised as legitimately royal. If one of her children sires or gives birth to an heir to the Thorne to come after George the Third and their son George the prince regent (future George the fourth who'd declared bankruptcy twice during his regency and who's coronation was more expensive than his fathers and got on so badly with his wife that he didn't so much as invite her to his coronation) then the line is secure, if none of them can have anything other than illegitimate children then there'll be all sorts of squabbles going on over who's to inherit the throne.

So in reality they might've spoken more German than English. A very German English monarch. p.s. But think of this as movies about the Tzar being played by English people.
Oddly enough, George III was German as well. His father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were all born in Hanover. He was the first person in his family who chose English as his primary language, but he still spoke German. His mother only spoke German. The British royal family today are honestly more German than they are anything else. :)

Love the reaction! It is a bit confusing at first, but the Queen has tons of children, however the girl who died in childbirth was the only legitimate grandchild. So to continue the line of succession after her son, somebody has to have legitimate kids.
Season one favorite bc closer to Julia Quinn books...which I read. In booksAnthony's relationship with Kate was fun and very exciting... Season 2, the sister rivalry( which didn't happen), took a lot of fun out of it.
The dress she wore was the one from Paris. The one sge was jumping over tge wall in was that morbid wedding dress his mother wanted her to wear...lmao And the songs were modern songs that was a Beyonce song.
