This is John Deacon 💯Jazz Bluesy. Btw.... Deacon is playing all the instruments in this song! How COOL are these guys ?!? And Freddie’s beautiful falsetto 😻
Couldn't resist this one! Cool Cat slaps! Just a little trivia... That's the talented Mr. John Deacon on drum machine, both lead and bass guitar, and he cowrote it with Freddie! Freddie sang and played keyboard. I concur, wake up with a little Queen in your cup!
Yessss!!! I love this song! Those first 3 seconds...that bassline...that falsetto...This song screams summer cruising and oozes sexiness...that falsetto! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh
No Brian May, no Roger Taylor, they didn't want or like this so refused to be a part of it, so John and Freddie did it all. John played both the base and that mean guitar here. Hot Space gets a lot of negativity, but there are gems on it and this is one of them.
Heavy metal, hard rock, rock and roll, glam rock, progressive rock, stadium rock, thrash metal, pop, ballads, folk, ragtime, disco, funk, motown, soul, blues, jazz, opera, neo-classical... yup, they covered just about everything. If Freddie stuck around long enough, who knows if he might have even dabbled into rap (there's an alternate version of Cool Cat where David Bowie "raps" a few lines)...
🙋🏾♀️ Carrie Staker...💁🏾♀️ I know "Stone Cold Crazy" is considered early thrash metal BUT that '77 Houston performance comes the closest to rapping Freddie's done ✌🏾! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DFRjg07YZ4w.html
You are so spot on about the vibe of this tune...and I love your description of it! That's why I take some issue with anyone who tries to label Queen as a 'rock' band, because they were into so many genres and did them all well. It's no doubt they knew how to rock with the best of them, but they weren't only a rock band. Amazing music. Also congrats on 28K, JB! Movin' on up, my friend. :)
Freddie Mercury was a big fan of Prince and saw him live during his 1999 tour (per a biography on Freddie). I sometimes wonder if doing an entire song in a falsetto was sort of inspired by him. Even though "Hot Space" was frowned upon at the time because it didn't have as much of their rock sound on it, I think the album has aged well and in some ways sounds even more fresh today. It probably was an album ahead of it's time. Just brilliant!
I agree, this song does give me that soulful vibe. I just heard this song for the first time last week and oh my sugarsnaps I love this song! Glad to know this "Cool Cat" song. Better late than never. Before I only knew the "We Will Rock You" song which I really liked also. Freddie Mercury was a Cool Cat. I'm from Queens and I 💙 QUEEN
Yup, pretty funky, & oh, that glorious falsetto! When you hear a Queen song with a killer bass line, you can bet on it being a John Deacon song. This is credited to John & Freddie, the coolest cat around. Hot Space might have been one of their worst albums, but it did have about five great songs, & this is one of them for sure. Love your reaction..."A cup of Queen." Yeah. that's how I like to wake up.
Now what you need to do is take this song and then listen to “I want it all” so do “cool cats” then “I want it all” back to back and listen to the two types of voices The versatility in his voice cool cats has this high voice then In my want it all there is this deep gravelly raspy voice that is so so cool and then obviously when you listen to all his other songs he has so many tones to his voice he can change it up he can go from sounding like Michael Jackson like in cool cats with that high voice to doing a raspy deep voice in I Want it all his versatility with his voice how he can just change it up from song to song going from hard rock to rock to funk to disco to opera to soul back to rock this is what makes Freddie the greatest!!! RIP Freddie 💔
This reaction definitely put a smile on my face and was grooving with love this song. I'm with ya I can listen to Queen all day everyday to and it usually on my weekends
🙋🏾♀️ Holly Odell...💁🏾♀️ Unfortunately, a lot of ppl haven't heard of this or any other song from this LP with the exception of Under Pressure and maybe Body Language 'cos it was immediately dismissed by hardcore rock fans due to the underlying R'NB/Dance/Disco vibes. I'm glad you'd gave the song reaction chance✌🏾!
So happy when I see you're doing a Queen song. I agree with jeepster. Listen to My melancholy blues and Seaside rendez-vous.. you will be surprised and when you have 8 minutes The prophet's song.
David Bowie was supposed to be on backing vocals on this. Bowie and Queen were in Montreux, Switzerland at the same time. Bowie recorded his backing vocals but wasn't satisfied with his own performance and later asked that his vocals be removed. But while Queen was in the studio with Bowie that's when they started to write "Under Pressure" together.
Nice reaction! :-) Liked it a lot! *thumgs Queen is very ... let's say: Try (as already mentioned below in the comments) "Mustapha"..! In this song Fred doesn't sing in english, japanese or spanish! He sings in his native language. Sadly I don't how the the language is called in english as I am from Germany. Lyrics goes like this: "Allah-I na stolei, Achtar es na sholei, Mochamut dei ya low eshelei!" :D
Forgot to mention to u that there is a Michael Jackson/Freddie mercury duet that they recorded together called " There must be more to life than this".... check it out....AMAZING!!!! Also keep up the great work.
To me, it's a cross between Diana Ross, The Police, and Prince. The motown feel of Diana Ross, the Reggae Rock of The Police, and the vocals of Prince.
@@queenremix1353 - Regardless, another great Mercury performance almost 30 years after he's gone. I remember seeing them live in 1980 and at times his voice made my hair stand on end!
this is from their most hated (lol, by Brian and Roger) album - "Hot Space"... it´s not what people were expecting, it´s not what Roger and Brian WANTED to do... but it´s ... cool. Oh, and while you´re at it you might want to check out "Back Chat"... Deaky´s personal diss-song for Brian, who nevertheless is made to play the guitar, lol.
John loved the funk sound. Roger and Brian didn't perform on this because they were just into more of the rock sound. It's all Deaky and Freddie with John playing most of the instruments.
OK first song that the band hated did not like and fought over it is kind of a cool song it doesn’t really fit the band there a rock band but Freddy does it justice!!
I see that you took the Elvis Hallelujah video down and I hope one of the reasons would it then that you realize that wasn't Elvis... Please tell please react to Elvis, "Why me Lord"
