Goosebumps. It's what I feel every time I hear this band and especially this guy. Please Lambert, leave NOW, you are out of place... And Extravaganza, please come to Brazil! ;-)
To all haters: compare this with the shit that Paul R. or Adam L. sing, and then come again to give the thumb up. Or check your ears. It's not about being Freddie, it's about being able to sing such a song.
Okay, Lambert need to leave right now. I've trying really hard to accept him but i fail everytime. This guy gives me goosebumps. You Marc have given us Freddie back!
I'm glad you enjoy the page! It's a blast to do! I don't feel knowledgeable enough about Queen or music in general to do any informed reviewing. I just know what I like. :D I can't wait for the UK tour either. Those will be the toughest critics, I think.
marc martel is awesome - so much so i watch in awe as he performs the notes freddie did on the studio albums but couldnt manage on live tours - no disrespect to freddie at all - he is an utter legend and will never be and should never be replaced, thats why marc martel performs his own stuff and the album is even called the impersonator - in my opinion queen should have bowed out when freddie passed and not tried to carry on - either with paul rodgers or adam lambert
Good singer without any doubt. No Freddy - again without any doubt. Freddy put more ... "effort" (?) "soul" (?) whatever it was inside this so that you could feel the song from his interpretation - and not to forget: In one single recording - to never sing again... extraordinary. Even though - this really is one of the better versions of this song, better than Paul Rodgers, better than Elton John.
This is one of the most difficult songs to perform. There's tons of singers who could hit the notes, bot no one can hit it like Freddie did. That songs was written by Brian as a kind of a homage to Freddie's will to continue with making music despite his illness. It's not hard to imagine Freddie taking that challenge with a grin and killing the song in first try. That can never be reproduced.
+abeeftec he's slightly ( and I mean slightly) flat in 2 spots. but who the fuck care,s its passionate and genuine. He's the real deal. Lambert , who an great singer is ALL wrong for Queen. To much drag not enough queen
What's wrong with his high H? Why doesn't Marc even try to touch it? I've definitely heard him sing even C5 in Bohemian Rhapsody. Looks like he was not in his voice that day. Incredibly great overall, though :)
Furthermore, the note Freddie hit was a high D. By high H you mean High A which is 4 notes higher (half an octave higher) which is impossible to hit head on and needs to be glissed into or the note will be extremely strained
Jason Chew Sorry, wrong. All depends on the quality of the singer and their technical skill (it can also be an artistic choice on occasion where appropriate). It's much easier to do a glissando onto a note than to hit it outright, but that's what makes the best singers. Can you imagine Pavarotti swooping onto his top notes? It would be ludicrous. (There's no such thing as C5 either)
dajtoad1 Of course, there is such thing as C5. There are also C6, C7 and even C8 and 9 and 10! C5 is the defining note for tenors and for sopranos it's C6, also called High C or Top C. Agree with you about the glissando vs head-on. It take a legitimate voice and technique to hit the not head on, rather than slide up to it.
Milla Nova Oh right, you're talking about describing the octave. (I had actually wondered in a part of my comment which I deleted whether this was what was meant.) I have always just referred to it as "top C", and it's incredibly difficult (while of course, I have no personal source of comparison, I believe it's even tougher for men than for women).
