Our Mary and Princess Catherine get on very well, have similar personalities, honour their husbands and countries, have worked very hard to learn all the royal protocols, etc for the position they know they were marrying into.....and on top of all that, Mary learned to speak the language fluently.

These Parure tiara sets are fairly rare? I believe this is the first that I’ve seen. Stunning!

@@pwhorselover other than the Emeralds, Denmark has three parures in the Crown Jewel collection. The others are a set of pearls and rubies (a different set than Queen Mary’s usual), the diamond set (or Brilliant-sættet as it is called in Danish, which is estimated to be the most valuable in the collection), and the rather mysterious Rosette set (mysterious because it’s a mystery how it used to be worn). The Emeralds are however the only set in the Danish Crown Jewels that includes a tiara. But in the royal collection there are other parures as well. Queen Mary’s rubies and the Pearl Poire set.

If she ever like wear a light green or like white like Princess Eugenie on her wedding day would make this set exquisite. Still Queen Mary is very regal.

We love Mary and she has created a greater relationship between Denmark and Australia. Which was the original purpose of royals marrying people from other countries. ❤️❤️❤️ Yes, she and Catherine gets along very well. Hopefully, after the Nordic countries, the next monarchy the Danish King and Queen will go on a State visit to, is the UK. I believe that the close ties between the two oldest monarchies of Europe should be upheld.

The rubies are also very special and have a unique history. Not sure if she can wear the Naasut tiara yet, though. It was after all a gift for Queen Margrethe.

You are correct. She is not allowed to alter the Crown Jewels.

These particular jewels are not just one of the regular sets of the royal jewel collection. They are part of the Danish Crown Jewels. Meaning they are not the personal property of the royal family. They belong to the Danish State. But the only person who can wear them, is the current Queen. The Danish Crown Jewels mainly consist of four parure. A diamond one, a rosette one, a ruby and pearl one (a different one than Mary’s regular rubies) and finally this set of emeralds. The three first were bequethed to the Danish State by Queen Sophia Magdalena (wife of King Christian the VI), because she was sad about that Denmark did not have any Crown Jewels. This were changed now, and these sets have since then only been worn by thr current Queen. The Emeralds were added later and is the only one of the sets that include a tiara. When not in use, the Crown Jewels are part of a permanent exhibit in the vault at Rosenborg Palace in Copenhagen, along side the rest of the jewels in the collection and the royal regalia (crown, sceptor, globe and sword). The regalia are only taken out of the exhibit, upon the death of a monarch, and while they are lying in state, these are set up next to the coffin. Along with three lion statues also exhibited in the throne room at Rosenborg. The Palace is open to the public. They are only worn on special occasions and the court has to coordinate with Rosenborg, whenever they are to be removed from the exhibit. The royals work with their personal hair stylists to find ways to set the tiaras in the hair, in ways to make sure they stay in place. The earrings are incredibly heavy and the wearer needs extra support to be able to keep them in place. Which are done with hooks that goes around the ear. Otherwise they are clip-ons. Queen Mary selects what jewelry she wants to wear and now that she is Queen, she has more at her disposal than before.

The Christians have been ahead for 500 years. Had history been different, we could have had 10 Kings named Hans now as the King who followed King Christian the I was his son Hans, followed by his son Christian the II, who was then followed by his uncle, Frederik the I. We also could have had more Christians (Christian the IV’s oldest son was named Christian, but he died before he could be King), or even a couple of Carls (Frederik the VIII and Frederik the IX’s first names were actually Carl and Frederik a middlename) had history been different. The whole tradition stems from the Oldenburgs’ tradition of naming their oldest child after their grandfather. A tradition that persists until Crown Prince Christian becomes King. Queen Margrethe is named after her maternal grandmother and King Frederik is named after King Frederik the IX. While Crown Prince Christian has both John and Henrik as his middlenames, as it is likely that he will continue the tradition, and he will be the first King of Oldenburg descend since 1448 to not take their regnal name after their grandparent. But if he wanted to, he actually could break the tradition. His last middlename is Valdemar, another famous name of Danish Kings. I doubt he will do that. But if it ever did strike his mind, he can consider being King Valdemar the V instead of King Christian the XI.

I am danish and we are very fond of our new Queen. She always dresses perfectly. I must agreee with you though. This dress doesn’t do anything good for especially the neckless. It should have been “neckless” for the jewels to show themselves at the best and they are very lovely.
