When the Queen Mother opened Galashiels Academy in Scotland, my Dad, a WW2 veteran, my Mum and me were in Bank Street all on our own when she went passed in a Rolls Royce. My Dad told me to take off my school cap and bow. We got the most fantastic wave and smile from her that I will never forget it. I thought that she really meant it and will cherish that special moment.

Living off the state or petty crime in some cases. If you call them a 'Chav' they would not take it as an insult, but a mark of respect. It is an insult to one that is not a chav. I suspect there is a similarity with the American term 'Trailer trash'

She out-lived Elizabeth, the Queen Mother by a few months.Has there ever been another instance where two women who married brothers both lived to be 102?Care to bet against H.R.H. My error. I watched the clip of her passing being announced, and the announcer said she had passed 'in her 102nd year'. Nonetheless, for both women to have lived to see their 100th birthdays has to be a very unique distinction, don't you think?
@BOB1974_
@BOB1974_ 7 лет назад
David Young Yeah, she was technically in her 102nd year but we all start at 0 so our number of years is always one more than our numerical age. But yes, it is cool. It's also cool that even if Elizabeth II doesn't live that many years, in my lifetime I was still able to see the longest reigning British monarch. @RoaringBas
@RoaringBas 4 года назад
Queen Elizabeth the 2nd is the Monarch (the King). There can be only one Monarch (King). Therefore the husband of the Queen is called Prince. If he would have the title King than it would be contradicting with the fact that the Queen is actually the King.
@Yuno-rr5bw

Queen Elizabeth (the Queen mother) was a wife to a Reigning King thus she's Queen consort. Queen Elizabeth II on the other hand is a Reigning Queen thus his husband is only a Prince consort. Quite simple really. The word "Queen" comes from the Old English "cwen" which meant wife. The title "Queen " can only be applied to the single female descendant of a monarch in descent. Similarly the title "Princess" can only be deferred upon the female offspring of a monarch. There was NEVER a Princess Diana! So... I beg that sycophants get their genealogical facts right!!!

Nope, the title Duchess of Cornwall is reserved for the wife of the Duke of Cornwall, whih is always the male heir to the throne. When Charles becomes King, William becomes Duke of Cornwall, Catherine will be known as Duchess of Cornwall. Camila will be HM The Queen, unless Parliamentry Act says otherwise. Charles and Camilla have said though that she will be known as Princess Consort. But by law, the wife of the King is Queen.

@@Rens1989 Catherine will be known as HRH The Princess of Wales. She will also be the Duchess of Cornwall, The Duchess of Rothsey & the Countess of Chester. Camilla chose to be called Duchess of Cornwall because of Diana but she is the current Princess of Wales.
