When Freddie died this song was played everywhere, every station and TV show, every newspaper and columnist quoted it. It was almost as if it had been written for the future. Highlander was great and we spent so much of our youth quoting it to our friends.

Queen put the most beautiful music out. Freddie was a pure genius when it came to creating music. He had the best crew and backing I have ever seen. I have loved this band from day one. The movie was good and made me cry when I think of Freddie passing away and all the beautiful music that he could have brought to this world. The haters should be ashamed of themselves, they don't know what good music is. I don't care that Freddie was gay, he had a pure heart and beautiful soul. God bless you Freddie.

Brian is the most underrated guitarists of all time. You see these lists of best guitarists or top 10 guitarists of all time and you always see the same names like Pete Townsend, Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, and nobody ever mentions Brian May. He was a, no, IS a musical genius. He and his father designed and made his own guitar out of stuff laying around their home like a freaking sewing needle and a piece from a saddlebag. He made the knobs himself, and he plays it like it's just an extension of his fingers and never do you hear him on any list of greatest guitarists ever or greatest guitarists of all time, you don't hear any accolades given to this man who is truly a guitar master. That pisses me off to no end and that is criminal.

Most critic's and the average schmuck on the street may not give Brian his due. But most current top guitarists sure do. Everyone from Jeff Beck to Slash admit to the influence May had on them. Well not so much Beck as he came first but he did call Brian The Governor and said everyone wanted to play Brian's licks instead of his. When those who know wtf they are doing list Brian as an influence. That is enough for me.
@teresadutson3121
@teresadutson3121 5 лет назад
@@Sneak65 I've heard very very few people mention him as an influence or say that he is one of the greatest or he was a great influence to them or that they wanted to play like him. There have been a few. I've heard Slash mention it once, but even the greats like Pete Townsend and Keith Richards have never said anything about him. It's just sad that his own "people" can't say Oh you know who else plays really hot or I'm think you missed someone who should be on this list or you know who else is amazing ...nothing.
@aaronlock5091
@aaronlock5091 5 лет назад
Well actually he is 26 at Rolling Stone list. But fuck the Rolling Stone, those bitches hated the band at the times and seems they are not over it yet. But, Brian is No.2 in the Guitar World list made by readers poll results at 2012 and that's a result. And musicians do give him credits, at least check it in the internet, i'm not gonna do it by myself. So I don't see how May or the whole band is underrated. Maybe by those shitminded critics, but not by people.

Dr. May is 71, fit as a fiddle, vegetarian, animal rights activist (particularly badgers and foxes) and has a PhD in astrophysics ... he recently made a new song - New Horizons - to the space probe which now has passed Pluto and is on its way towards the Kuiper belt. I know there are many elderly rockers (like Rolling Stones), but nine minutes guitar solos on a guitar that in one second sounds like three V8 engines, and the next like a seagull? That's Brian!

Freddie sings with so much passion! Queen was an incredible band! The four of them will live on forever. Freddie will live on forever! Freddie is so handsome in a tux! On You Take My Breath Away you could have heard a pin drop in that crowd. Freddie is incredible! There will never be another singer that comes close to him! Who Wants To Live Forever is one of the first Queen songs I remember listening to, it is and always will be a tearjerker for me. You Take My Breath Away is a song I've discovered only recently and it quite literally took my breath away. It is THE love song if you ask me. I was honestly heartbroken when you stopped the studio version just before the part that takes the song to a whole new level, out of this world level, something only Freddie could do with his voice and talent. I hope (for your sake) that you finished listening to the complete song off-screen, you wouldn't want to rob yourself of hearing this extraordinary masterpiece. I do agree that nothing beats hearing Queen live but never assume that they won't surprise you with the studio versions. =)

I agree, often the live version capture Freddie's emotional delivery, but the studio versions are works of art. if you listen to the rest of You Take My Breath Away, the harmonies (all Freddie!) will give you chills. Here's something that I haven't seen brought up in your comments though: can we persuade you to react to Queen songs with headphones? Like good quality over the ear types, not tinny earbuds. Unless you've got a great stereo surround setup (or if you do indeed listen to these songs later on your own time with headphones), you're going to be missing out on some beautiful audio effects that the band took great care in creating. For instance, The Prophets Song. Headphones are a MUST for this one!

When he sits in front of that piano and starts to play and sing, it is like everything else in the world is silent and it seems like, to me, he knows you're there and you're listening, it's a performance, but it's almost like he's there alone with his piano and he gives every single ounce, every drop of energy, all of him- every bit of emotion, every bit of passion, into what he's playing and singing. It's almost like he is just so engrossed in the music that even though he obviously seems aware there's stuff going on around him, cuz you know he looks around and what not, he also seems to be in a world of his own, singing and playing with every single thing he's got and he is going to give every ounce and every bit of him in that song.

I was thinking that, this is one song thats not easy to sing live because of the backing vocals and yeah he stopped it before it really gets going, it's worth listening to it in it's full, also, I find the studio version better then the live version on this song.

Yeah, the album version is better in my opinion cause of the backing vocals and Brian's incredible solo. It's not the same live with this one.

Haha, great that all the fans share the same feeling after this reaction... "Don't you dare stopping in the middle of this superb studio album!" Now he missed the best parts... :cry:

@@LeroyBrown84 I know, I was a bit supprised he stopped before the song got going and ended up missing the best part, but for me personally, listening to the studio version first then the live one so you get to hear how the song is meant to sound like, more so with Queen songs because they play about with them a bit with live performances.

OMG. I can not believe you stopped listening to 'You take my breath away' studio version at the point where it gets the best (and very different to live version). And you've missed the guitar SOLO!

He was using it to compare it with the live version,that is my guess why he missed it,probably intentionally,because he said"I'm gonna stop right there.So my guess it was intentionally.

I'm so happy people old and young are finding this song (You Take My Breath Away).. its been with me since 1976/77 and I've always been a bit obsessed with it... I love how Freddie had slightly different melodic phrases on the live version...Everytime I listen to this track I'm reminded of just how brilliant Freddie was... esp in this era. RIP King Freddie!

Most of Freddie Mercury’s love songs were about Mary Austin, his first and only love. He left most of his fortune to her, including his home.

Certainly one of his greatest loves, but not his only love. His last love was Jim Hutton, whom he considered his husband.

Thanks for pointing out that Jim Hutton lived with Freddie the last 5 yrs of his life & was the love Freddie looked for all his life. Freddie & Jim wore wedding bands & Freddie referred to Jim as his husband. Jim never heard of Freddie when they met because he was a gentleman's barber in a high class hotel & lived a quiet lifestyle. Their sweet love story is documented in Jim's lovely, funny, sad, sincere book called Mercury & Me, most libraries have it or buy on Amazon. It Freddie's life in real time, at home with Jim living a surprisingly normal married life. Jim gave Freddie the love he dreamed of & when Freddie told Jim he was dying of aids & said he would understand completely if Jim wanted to leave, Jim told Freddie "I love u FREDDIE, I'm not going anywhere" & stayed with him taking care of him till he died.

I believe this song was made specifically for the movie "Highlander". The plot here is that the main character is cursed with immortality, and he falls in love and lives his life with a mortal girl. Doomed to see her grow old and eventually die, while he remains. Thus the "who wants to live forever".

72! You're learning - when you react to Queen you're in GENIUS territory! They never settled for less. And Freddie's Genius and personality will live on as long as there are people in this world!

Tearjerker?? Heck, I've been tearing up since the Trailers came out in the summer. As I've written before; I've been a fan since 1974. But I love seeing everything through a fresh set of eyes. Thank you!! So, if you want the total opposite of a tearjerker...check out "Seaside Rendezvous" totally just cute fun and a whole different genre. 💜

Most of Queen songs are tearjerkers these days because you just know, even the upbeat songs, when you hear those vocals you know there is no more creating going to happen and it's sad and it leaves you kind of melancholy. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that all Queen songs make you want to cry and sad, it's just that sometimes when you're listening to Queen, even the most upbeat songs, you feel a little sad because you know there will be no more. Also there are many, many, many, many, many Queen songs from the 70s all the way up to when Freddie died that are finished. They were slated for a particular album and then decided, no this doesn't go with the feel of the album or we don't have room for this song on this album, whatever the reason, they were never released. Please, please, please, please, powers-that-be, release them, we would so love to hear them. There's also a song that Freddie released under pseudonym Larry Lurex called I can see music. He had to put it out under another name because of contractual stuff, there are only two vinyl copies left in the world and are valued at over three-quarters of a million dollars each. That would make a wonderful reaction video.
