Great overview and "history" of your paddles. Currently favoring the SixZero DBD but not sure I'll get used to the hybrid shape and the Ronbus Pulsar line is very tempting, but want to give the SixZero a go for a bit.

I switched to DBD from Hyperion 14mm and I’m loving it. Better sweet spot, absorbs a little better, almost as much pop. 5.3 inches is good enough for the two handed. I got worried when I took it out of the box and put two hands on it though. Hyperion smoothed out a little as well.

i used the pursuit, the crbn1x and the 6.0 DBD in the past 4 months and i like the DBD because it seems to have the best weight for my backhand shots...it has a little bit lighter feel without sacrificing power but on forehands, they all feel identical.....great story Will

Thanks Will. This is the first time I've watched your personal podcast. I've gotten hooked on the Legacy Pro and just added the Legacy Pro S. The have tons of power and spin plus they feel so solid and reliable. My journey since 2018 with paddles is somewhat like yours. Still have wooden, fiberglass, and aluminum paddles around the house. Sometimes I'll drill with the aluminum paddle because it weights a ton so it's feels good to get some "weight-training" in. I appreciate what you and Chris bring to the pickleball community. Keep up the good work. BTW, my Legacies arrived after Dickert said the "delam" issues has been solved so fingers crossed.

Definitely feel you on preferring the elongated over hybrid shapes. People keep saying the difference in length is minimal and I hate to say it but those millimeters do make a difference 😞. R3 Pulsar is currently my favorite thermoformed paddle but recently I switched to the Vatic Prism V7; found it to have similar power but the Prism has a nicer feel and control to it. Just can't generate as much spin as the Pulsar
@braddaddis371
@braddaddis371 Год назад
Great to hear the prism and Pulsar have a similar feel. I’ve been curious about both. I hear you regarding the mm’s making a difference. I went from the V7 to the Flash 14mm. Such a small difference in length, but makes a surprising difference. Love the maneuverability of the flash though. And, love your discount code lol. If you had to say which has more power… the Flash 14mm vs the Prism V7, which would you say wins? I’m sure the flash has more pop, but the Prism has more swing weight so any info is helpful. Appreciate it.
@TickleMyPickleball
@TickleMyPickleball Год назад
@@braddaddis371 V7 Prism has more power. I should have a review out early next week but I really don't think that paddle is lacking in power for a Gen 1 RCF. Also both the Prisms are noticeably less stiff than the Pulsars. Really like the feel of the Prisms though the Flash Prism is on the softer end for power.

For me it's been Gamma Riley Newman 206 (still unsnapped) -> ProDrive Drive -> Vatic V7 -> Vatic Flash 16/SixZero DBD. I'm actually the opposite of you (and a lot of others in the comments) in that I've actually come to prefer the hybrid over elongated. The extra maneuverability that the lower swing weights provide w/the hybrid really does it for me. Going back to an elongated like the V7 or Drive really messes w/my serve and hand speed. Plus I've been dealing w/tennis elbow too recently and I'm able to play longer w/the hybrids.

Somewhat similar journey: my Engage Encore is one generation older than yours, still my go to for speed. Used gear box CX11E for last year before buying 4 thrermforms. I bought a range of spec paddles based on PB Studio stat sheet Filth, CRBN 2X, Vatic flash, Electrum Elite. The SWING weight does have a huge impact on performance - and SHOCKINGLY paddle shape!!! Lowest to highest shape for swing wieght is standard/hybrid/extended. Although the Filth does not have a swing wt number from Chris, I wanted an extended style for comparison - and it is slower to move than the CRBN 2X. Still, the control was awesome the first time I used it. Keep up the good work!

Great vid. I think PB is one of the few sports where the equipment has such a significant impact on the player. Its very hard to dial into the best paddle simply because you can't walk into a store to test these, so these reviews are the lifeblood of rec players. I started with the Vulcan Skullcandy bc of the cool design and how balanced it was. This was the only new paddle I ever bought, the rest I get used which saves about $40 a paddle. I also got the Head Extreme Tour Lite which is ridic light and barely any power but i get amazing hand speed & I can swing hard without the ball going out. I upgraded to the Electrum pro which I liked alot for the spin but it had a bit too much power for doubles. I wanted something softer (and elongated) so I got the Electrum E and, as Will recommended I got the Solaire & I really enjoy its power. I switch between E and Solaire but now i want to upgrade to something with more power than the E but in an elongated/hybrid shape with a bit more control than the Solaire. I'm between the DBD, the Rombus pulsar and the Filth (though curious about who manufactures B&B's carbon fiber.)

I'm coming from a GRUVN RAW-16H, so I do miss the GRUVN's handle length a bit, but I'm adjusting pretty well so far. In general I'm a huge fan of Six Zero and really want to see what they come out with in the future. An elongated paddle from Six Zero with a longer handle may be just the thing I would want. Until then, I love the pop and feel of the DBD. It has really enhanced my game, and there's really no going back to the GRUVN.

@PickleballWill
@PickleballWill Год назад
I haven't had any issues with the recent batches and I would say you can expect 6-8 months of play with them before you can really really notice a slight performance fall off but that is also dependent on how often and how hard you play

@dbada9985 Год назад
what would you compare the a11n to? I've played with Halo, Volair, Vatic V7 & Prism Flash... just want to know if it would be different from the ones I already have. Also, the Ronbus Pulsar... what's it compared to?
@PickleballWill

a11n kinda feels like a Vanguard 2.0 that is a bit stiffer. Probably closest to the Prism flash but with a bit less spin and a bit more plushness

@PickleballWill
@PickleballWill Год назад
It dies eventually like all of them. it takes me about 3 months before I notice the spin come down. It's still a lot of rpm though even after heavy use but totally still playable, you just wont get the same when compared to when it's brand new

Great stuff! Any thoughts on Ronbus Pulsar R1 vs Six-Zero DBD for someone that primarily plays a spin/touch/control game but looking for more put-away power. Either of these would be my first thermoformed paddle. So far I haven't gone to a two-handed backhand so longer handle length isn't a consideration. Thanks.

Doesn’t hit nearly as hard as those other 2 but it is the fastest of the 3 and probably tied with the DBD in terms of versatility. I prefer the feel of the scorp over the DBD though and I personally find the wider shape easier to do rolls
