Pro tip: Always talk to the interviewer like you have already accepted the job and are going to start working there within the next two weeks.
@freddie7981

good tip, but this is often more natural. Quite hard to feign liking something when deep down you know you won't enjoy life working there.
@inplane9970
@inplane9970 Год назад
Heavily depends. If you feel the interviewers like your vibe, then acting more confident in the position is fine. If the interviewers seem disinterested or annoyed, then acting like the position is already yours is only going to eliminate you from the roster overall.

Because I didn't want to scare my interviewers, I ended up rephrasing the "hesitancy" question to "based on what we've discussed I would like some feedback, is there any area that you would like me to elaborate more on, perhaps give an example of a skillset we havent discussed?" Because I understand the purpose of my question is to literally have feedback, as well as fight for the job incase they have an area they are hesitant about. At both first and second interview the interviewers were eager to tell me I've answered all questions perfectly, and I got the job offer the next morning. :)

I asked the tough question at my interview for a job that’s out of my league. I knew I wouldn’t get the job when applying but thought I won’t lose anything by applying if anything I will gain experience. I made it to the second round interview with the director of the department, at the end of the interview I asked the tough question, and she said that she was glad that I asked, and was very honest with me about how she thinks I don’t have enough experience for the position. She was very informative in what I should be doing to gain experience and which direction I should look into for a job that fits me better now. And she was encouraging, told me even though I wouldn’t be selected for the role I applied, she’d keep me in mind when something matches me pops up, she gave me her contact info and even offered to mentor me. I am beyond grateful for this experience. Although it sucks to not get the job, I gained something very valuable. And I really appreciate your advice, this question is excellent and I will definitely be using it at my next interview. Thank you!

This immensely helped me! I had an interview today and they asked if I had any questions. Had I not pre-written them down I would have tanked. My 4 questions led to a twenty-five minute discussion. The fourth being the challenging one you mentioned. I felt like such a boss. They appeared stunned when I asked them. But actually the main interviewer said at first he was nervous about my "young age" but he intrigued by my accomplishments and feels like they can help me grow. And another interviewer said that despite me not knowing the specific software they use she was confident I'd pick it up. She told me her story of how she got hired after being a stay at home mom and that it was challenging but possible to learn. One hour after my interview I got hired and will have to move in a few weeks.❣️thank you

The first time, a concern was raised, and I addressed the concern with a skill I possessed that I hadn't mentioned previously in the interview. I got that job. The next time, I asked it, and the entire panel of interviewers looked at me like, "Damn, that's some balls there to ask that!" and no one had a concern... I got that job to. I decided to highlight what I COULD bring to the table but was honest about the deficit (because lying obviously wouldn't have been the wise move). If you made it that far in the interview based on the resume, then they already know what professional experience you have or don't have. Hi, Cass. So about a month ago I had my first ever invitation to an interview with a company. I have never done the whole job search thing before and I managed to get through the initial hoops, but I knew nothing about the types of questions they'd ask, basically no ideas. So I came to RU-vid and watched a bunch of interview videos and then stumbled across this particular video. When I heard the hard question I was like "heck no" I'm not doing that. But then I scrolled through the comments and it gave me courage, so I also watched a bunch of your other videos, practiced smiling, lots of memorising my answers which I forgot some of, leading to me winging it, but by the time I met with the interviewers, although I was nervous, I covered it up with a smile, always had a smile, and the interviewer actually commented on the fact that I smiled a lot. At the end I asked the hard question and she said that it had been like 3 years since someone had asked that and said no, and the fact that she loved my candor. I moved on to the next interview stage and since the question worked so well the first time I asked it in the second interview as well. He and I where laughing by the end and I got a third interview but didn't ask the question on that one though. I GOT THE JOB. I start Monday. It's a huge dream come true with amazing benefits. Thank you, Cass.

Hi Cassandra! I had my 2nd interview with Wells Fargo yesterday and believe it went in my favor. I came dressed in a suit and tie with my briefcase. Not too overboard but just right for the type of setting. I was promptly greeted by the branch manager who I'll call Jane and the manager from another branch named John who would be sitting down for the interview too. Next, we proceeded to go into the back office where I took your advice to wait to sit until my interviewer sat or gestured for me to do so. They explained that they will be asking some standard questions related to my past history (i,e. what would you do scenarios, how did you apply critical thinking on the job, how did I turn a bad experience around for the better, etc). Let me say with all honesty that as John and Jane were writing my responses I caught them exchanging wide smiles as they compared notes and nodded together in acknowledgment. Finally, It came time for the "Do you have any questions for us?" part which I must say your videos really helped me prepare for. The first question I asked was "What is a typical work week like for tellers? John and Jane told me more about the position which really confirmed and strengthened my desire to work for your company. The second question I asked had a direct focus on my interest in sales goals, to which I was told that while it was an excellent one to ask, WF has cut back on the sales goals most banks do. And Finally............THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION "Well after everything we've discussed today, is there anything leaving you with any hesitation on hiring me for the position?" Silence...... Pins Dropped..... Crickets..... Just when I thought I had blown it, John and Jane both looked at each other and then to me before saying in unison. "Absolutely Not! I would like to hire you right here, however, we have other applications to go through." As we wrapped up the interview and said our goodbye pleasantries, Jane walked me into the lobby and provided me her business card and stated "Michael, I just have a good feeling you'll be getting good news via email within the next week. Needless to say, I think I did very well in my interview. They even mentioned how they were pleasantly surprised that I came well dressed, prepared, and welcomed feedback. Also, they stated that they have always wanted applicants to ask that question but it never happened and thanked me for asking it because it shows my commitment to work ethic. While I am not celebrating yet, I just wanted to post here and say a big THANK YOU for all the help your videos gave me during the last couple of weeks. I watched this video a few hours before interviewing for a job I really wanted and I literally laughed at the "hesitancy for hiring me" question, thinking to myself I would absolutely never have the balls to ask that in an interview but then I asked it and a few days later I was offered the job!! Thank you so much Cass, I'm so glad I found you, I will be using that question forever!!

[The Hard Question]- The one question I have never heard about before. After several failed interviews I got tired of having to wait for weeks just to receive a regret letter or no communication. I came across this video as I was preparing for my interview. After asking all the other questions from this video and some of my own, I asked the ''Hard question''. The interviews were quiet for a few seconds then laughed, they said they didn't see any reason why they shouldn't hire me. Few hours later, I got a congratulatory email. A good question yet tricky since it depends on exactly how you phrase it and the tone (and maybe the hiring process e.g if the process has 4 interviews, I don't think you can ask the same question in all the 4 stages) Keep up the good work Cass!!!

I had a job interview last week. I saw your video about preparing for your interview and printing the address and taking copies from Cover Letters, Resume, References, and I had a Letter of Recommendation from my previous boss and I threw it in there to let them know my special situation and why I wasn’t working in my old job anymore. They were understanding and Super nice. We went over my work functions and how would I handle a situation. (I did see you other video about explaining in detail how to handle a situation and be specific in detail, so thank you.) After all that, we came to the end of the interview, and of course, he did mention if I had any questions for them? And I was brave enough to ask THAT question. The main manager was shocked, and he did tell me that I answered him his questions and he was highly impress and satisfied with that. (I had 2 ppl in my interview) He didn’t have anything else to say- He looked over to his co- worker and Asked her if she had anything to say and or ask? She said No. the main manager then went ahead and told me to expect an email this past Friday. He would be in touch. On Thursday evening I got an email saying if I accepted the job and the manager thought I was well suited for the position. So thank you for your advice. It really helped.

I just had an interview today. I've been looking for a job for months now and was feeling really desperate. I watched your video. Wrote down some questions... including the hesitancy question. It was a virtual interview, on camera and two people were interviewing me. I didn't think I could ask the question of one person, much less 2... but I did it. I asked it confidently. They had no hesitancy at all and you could tell they were impressed by the question. I got the job!! It starts in a few weeks and I can't thank you enough. You helped me prepare and it's the best I've ever interviewed. It was nice to go in feeling confident and not nervous. THANK YOU.

A great piece of advice I got earlier: Go into every interview as if you are the solution to everyone's problems. Also, try to get an interview on a Wednesday, not a weekend. If you get one on an weekend their mind will be focused on getting home, not on your interview. I have my first ever interview tomorrow, I'll tell you guys how it goes. Edit: Eeeeee I got the job!!! I'm 20, ok, you don't have to be ashamed for starting later than most!!

I FOUND YOU! Hey, six months ago, you helped me get the job. But I got the one I wanted the least. The one I was really going for, I didn't get. Let me tell you, I still haven't recovered from that. I wanted it that bad. Anyway, needless to say, I have not given up my search, I did get to leave the position in which I wasn't happy. So, I have an interview Friday, its a video interview. Also, a peer came to me asking me for help, 3 months ago, on how I did it, how I left that position. I referred her to you, and gave her a few tips of my own. She got the job. Cass, thank you for all you do! ANYWAY!!!! IM GLAD I FOUND YOU AGAIN!

Today I asked the “hard question” at the end and it was tough but the interviewer loved it! She answered the question then went on about what a great question and how “brave and vulnerable” it was. She ended letting me know she will be scheduling me to meet with the owner of the company. You’re amazing!! Thank you for all your insight!!!!!

After many interviews that didn't feel right asking the "hesitancy to hire me" question, I finally felt comfortable enough with one interview to ask because it was going well! That question surprised the interviewer, they said that is such a good question and they would use it next time, to which I joked that they aren't leaving the firm though so they have no need! But it was so comforting to hear from them that there is nothing making them hesitant, just that competition is very intense, so it depends. This reassured me so much because I'm the type to overthink every detail I said in interviews, so it's nice to know the only thing I need to worry about is the competition! They also mentioned they looked for technologically proficient applicants and I jumped to explain my initiatives in learning more coding languages and programs because I believe that's where the world is headed. I definitely think this question helped me stand out and I just got the job offer today!! Thank you so much for this great question!! To people wondering if they should ask this, it depends on the mood in the interview. I didn't ask this when I thought the interview was too formal or too lighthearted. Just use your judgement! Good luck!!

I once asked the hesitancy question in an interview long time ago before i watched this video. The interviewer was shocked and annoyed. He said that he would contact the agency in a week. After 24 hours, i got the refusal letter. The feedback was i talked too much in the interview and could not make a point. (English is not my first language i have to add). I was convinced that it was a horrible mistake to ask that question. Now i see so many other posts here telling a different story. May give another try in the future~

The way he reacted may be cause he actually was uncomfortable to let you know straight away you're not his choice. Is not easy for them to be the villain. But that question is not going to make you land the job. Is more for them to know you're not going to be wondering for days or weeks, you're pro active even if you're not their best choice out of every candidate.

I asked the hard question at my interview yesterday for my dream job and he said that he had no hesitance at all! I'm glad I asked because I had 3 more interviews afterward with the rest of the staff and I felt much more confident when speaking with them than I would have if I wasn't sure where I stood.

Nice advise. I'd like to add that an Interview is equally an opportunity for you to 'choose' an employer as it is for them to 'choose' you. Don't hesitate to ask them questions, it's a workers market right now so use it to find the perfect employer and position.

As someone who was fresh out of college, I was worried about not getting a job (especially in this pandemic and hiring freezes were rampant). I watched basically every video of yours to prepare for an interview for a position I knew I would be great at. Your tips were SUPER helpful and I enjoyed watching your videos as you gave off a good vibe. After 5 rounds of interviews (and asking the Hard Question), I am pleased to say that I got the job!!! Thank you so much, Cass! I truly learned so much in this process.

My only wish is that I would have found you sooner

Seriously people ask the hard question. I watched this video and debated asking it and then looked through the comments of all the success stories of people actually asking that question and having success with it. So I asked it in my 3rd interview and it led to a job offer for a dream job! I’m so excited about it! Don’t be afraid to ask this question. It can lead to a verbal offer or give you a chance to make your case. Good luck everyone!

So i watched this video and read all of the comments of the good results they got for using the "hesitancy" question. I decided I would ask this at the end of my Interview. After I asked the manager said "That was a really good question, sounds like you did your homework". All three interviewers proceeded with answering no to the that question. Couple days have past since then and I have received the job offer!

Well...I asked that tough question in my interview. They were really impressed and thought that was a wonderful question, they couldn't give me an answer since I was the first interviewer and they couldn't compare me to any other candidates. Sad to say, I didn't get the job :(
