I love how real you are. You bring your family in, you talk about how things are set up, you ask us questions so it's not just a one way media. You're video don't seem scripted and fake. You are quickly become my favorite RU-vidr. I'm so happy I looked up how to make hot and sour soup and found you.

Shakshuak is very famous in most of the Middle East countries, and it considered as a main dish for breakfast or dinner. I make mine without the red pepper, Harissa or the crushed tomato, but I double the tomato amount. Sometimes, I like to top it with the Feta cheese, specially the one that I get from the Arabic stores. I agreed It is way more tasty with the Arabic or Pita bread.
@marial.6

it's more tasty with the Israeli pita or challah bread

In Iraq we make a similar breakfast dish that is way easier and still taste so good. You sauté fresh slices of tomatoes with olive oil, black pepper, minced garlic, and salt. Wait until they become soft so you can remove the skins. Then add your eggs and leave until the tomatoes stick a little to the pan because seared tomato taste better haha. You have to try it. You can also scramble your eggs and add them on top of the tomatoes and it looks so good.

Erisy's like, "I didn't do anything wrong Mom" after she dropped the spoon. It looks like a very comforting type of dish to make for whichever meal that we like and it's an easy dish as well.

This looks amazing! Loved this video. I can't wait to make this at home! The first time I tried shakshuka was at brunch in San Diego recently and it was dubbed "eggs and tomato" on the brunch menu that a gluten-free friend ordered. I was thinking that doesn't sound too appetizing but she offered me the bread that came with her meal and I dipped it in the shakshuka and OMG! It was SOOOO good!

I made this and I'm eating it right now and the first thing I said when I tasted it was, "this is...really good," and right after thinking that, the spice kicked it! But it's so good that you don't mind the kick at the end. It is very flavorful! I didn't try it with the runny egg but I sure do regret it. This is the only dish that makes me want to eat a runny egg! Thank you Djong! (I hope I spelled that correctly)

My mom also makes poached eggs in tomato sauce growing up, huevos ahogados, a mexican dish. I know other places like resturants make it differently but my mom was taught to make it by her mother with poached eggs ^_^ Interesting this is an arabic dish too.

I love your way of relating to your viewers and our comments. You’re always lovely even if not all the comments are positive. Regarding what you were saying about the canned tomatoes, the famous Jamie Oliver has said in the past that the best canned tomatoes are whole tomatoes as they tend to use the best ones for that. Maybe you already knew that but I thought I’d share here x

Haven't been a fan of the of shakshuka after several attempts at making it in the past, but I'll give your recipe a go. I think the reason I don't like it is because it's so tomato-y. I like the comment below about adding feta. That might temper the tomato-y taste and add a bit of creaminess to the dish. :)

Love shakshuka - so pretty and colorful! Noticed you used cast iron, which is my favorite, but always heard the acid in tomatoes wasn’t good for cast iron or caused a strange metallic after taste? I’d love to be wrong.What’s your thoughts on that?

You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want. The base is onion, tomato and eggs. The rest is optional.
