Yesterday (Sunday), I played a small gig with this keyboard (thru a pro sound system). At the end of the show, a few guys come up to take a look at this keyboard as they have never knew this brand. It sounds quite good at this low price. I only hope that this keyboard lasts at least 5 years. The user interface is superb, much much more user friendly compare to Tyros/Genos (which I own both). One of my keyboard students already sold her EW-410 and buy this one.
I just got this keyboard at Alto Music, Middletown NY. As most of you know, high end arrangers are in short supply due to Covid induced shortages. Wanted a PSR SX900 but took a shot with the AKX-10. My first impression is that the sounds are very good generally. That being said, I would give the stock acoustic pianos a B+ at most played as solo instruments, at least so far. Note, I am comparing this to my Kronos (not totally fair). The styles and combination sounds are very good, however. If you play The AKX-10 through a decent set of speakers (I had it going through my Presonus board to Yamaha studio monitors), it sounds fabulous. By common consensus, Its capabilities are off the hook but I have seen capable machines go unsupported and die. Hey, I took a chance. Just learning this unit and I am expecting to perhaps load other sounds. Nevertheless, at this price point it makes everything else I have heard sound pitiful. I traded a lowly Yamaha E463 (LOL) for this and the AKG-10 simply blows that out of the water in terms of sounds, capabilities etc. Yes, it is double the price of E463 but in terms of what is can do, it easily competes with the Yamaha PSR SX600/700 boards (see Jeremy See for confirmation of this view). Having the 7 inch touch screen alone is a joy at this price point. Speakers are very decent and probably suitable for background music in a small restaurant environment. Durability is the question. At $700 U.S., I am not too worried. Not saying anyone else should feel the same way, however. Finally, be aware the keyboard has no real ecosystem to support it at this point, so you are on your own for a bit. Finally, I went to Staples to print out the comprehensive (190 + page) and surprisingly well written online PDF manual to great benefit. It comes with a typical Quick Start PDF manual about 60 pages. John Roks here and Jeremy See are the only people I have seen demoing this machine in English, so thanks guys. Best to all.
Thanks for your insight on the AKX10 Joe. Had been looking for one all over the US (I live in NM) - nothing. Especially concerned about the piano patches - giving it a B+ isn't too reassuring, but I appreciate your comments on this keyboard. One other negative also - who in the US could service this if it should need it? Probably no one.
@@RedEyeC RE, I would not buy this if you are keying in on acoustic piano samples and you are expecting a high end Yamaha grand sound. That is not what you will get. But I was moving up from the somewhat pitiful Yamaha E463 stock piano sounds. IMHO the AKX is yards better overall than what you get in that keyboard category up to the better Yamahas/Korgs in terms of sounds, versatility, etc. And it is a leap ahead for a very reasonable amount of money ($375 more than the E463). Durability may be a risk as I noted and you seconded. I took the risk. In the meantime, it is fun to work with the AKX. By the way, Medeli does work for Kurzweil and other companies so that gives me some hope should I have a problem, I might find a parts solution. Not to mention, I am a mere 30 miles from where I bought it at Alto, a very reputable brick and mortar/online retailer. Finally, I will be using the AKX primarily as one means of song writing with intent to port things over to my computer. At that point, I can change any sound I want. Best. Joe
@@joemysterymusic - appreciate your reply. As far as a studio workstation, I've used Roland Fantoms for almost 20 years (the S, X6, Xa, and G) - learning the depths of these keyboards was like taking several college courses - and I was happy there were experts out there who taught me these otherwise complicated synths. All of my recorded background tracks were done with these Rolands. I had thought to try and get into the Korg Triton and Yamaha Motif that were also popular in their heyday - but was already very well educated with the Roland and really didn't want to go to the learning extreme with the other 2 renown models. Now enters Medeli AKX10. As an arranger and a workstation, perhaps a new learning curve? Please keep us posted on your advancement with this synth Joe :)
You chose this keyboard over the SX900???? Why???? This keyboard is just a bad fake low quality copy of Yamaha keyboards! The factory sounds sampled from old Yamaha keyboards! You should bought the SX or DGX. It's sounds better than this.
@@amusic9825 Take it easy AMusic LOL. It is already gone. I am well aware and in sync with your thoughts. I did not actually chose it over the 900. As I detailed, there were no SX900s to be found anywhere when I picked it up and took a shot with it after months of searching for the SX900. After a week of working with AK, however, I decided to return it and do more waiting for the SX900 which I now thankfully have. Price at $2400 was fortunately not an issue for me. But others might not be in the same position. In the end, as a $700.00 instrument, the AK has some very nice features but the lack of a reasonable ecosystem and zero support videos from Medeli sank it for me. Best.
I received mine 3 days ago. First look is like the SX900 with touch screen. Screen is more responsive to touch than SX900 and Genos (I own Tyros3 and Genos). This AKX10 is much more portable for me. User interface is much more logical and efficient that Yamaha keyboards. QS (OTS) set up for example is all done on one single screen. When all done, simply touch "SAVE" to save these OTS to the style being edited. Another example is style assembly: Yamaha is kind of confusing (but I already mastered this), the AKX-10 give you clear choices: "copy from" is very clear to user. I create a custom style (Tango with Rumba for verA) in no time. It has a dedicated knob to control right hand volume (only affects RH1, not RH2 or RH3), one button for STYLE RESET (Genos has it but not TYROS or PSR-S series). The reason for low price is voice quality, many voices sound good, some voices are just OK to play, when mixing 2 or 3 voices, I can have pleasant sound. I learned that Grand Suite software can take voice samples (from any instrument) and create a voice. Plan to do it for Tenor Sax, Sweet Trumpet, acoustic guitar, nylon guitar , violin, some brass. Hope that this effort will bring out good results. The built in styles are more than what I need, however, I had to "tweak" to my taste and save in User area. Within 3 days, I have a set of styles I need for playing parties. At this 700$+tax, I can't complain. IMHO, no arranger keyboard at this price can match with this AKX-10.
So could you somehow get other piano sounds/voices (Yamaha, Korg, Nord) into the AKX10...? Could you get virtual pianos (VST) sounds/voices into the AKX10...?
Hi there John, this is the same keyboard Thomann is selling!!!! It's called, Thomann AK-X1100!! It's identical!! Comes with a whole bunch of goodies, same as Medellin. I'm getting one of these for sure!! Thx for video!!
Some more info after a week on AKX10. GOOD STUFFS: 1) audio interface: using USB cable, one can record keyboard playing as WAV using an audio software such as Audacity. No need to record to USB then bring USB to computer to copy the WAV file 2) onboard recorder can record MIDI (no vocal) , MP3 or WAV (including vocal from plugged in microphone) 3) Simplified Q.S. setup: one screen page to configure all 4 Q.S. 4) easy to backup all User data (styles, songs, etc..) to USB 5) each registration stores (style, mixer setting, pads as one set), easy to load to play a particular style 6) change instrument / velocity of each part in each style section easily (not easily possible with Yamaha keyboards) For example: if the solo part of an intro or ending is not loud enough, one can increase the velocity of track 14 or 16 of the intro/ending section of that style without affecting other sections. On Yamaha keyboard, doing this will result in velocity of track 15 and/or 16 to be increased and that will make one or more sections (A, B, C, D) sounding weird. NOT SO GOOD STUFFs: 1) does not load "standard" MIDI files (that KORG and YAMAHA can load) 2) Grand Suite software DOES NOT load MIDI files recorded on AKX10 ( I tried to convert a MIDI file recorded on AKX10 to a style to see how this works) 3) PDF manual of Grand Suite software is provided by functionality is limited,
Sounds like a Roland rompler from the late 90s, early 2000s. Maybe JV1080, but not quite as good.. Modern Roland, Korg or Yamaha workstations sound much better.
THEY TOOK ALMOST ALL DESIGN FROM YAMAHA PSR SX900. I can't say which is better on sound, etc etc. But this one looks has more futures or controllers . Looks beautiful and sound very very nice. This kind of keyboard are very easy to use, so much better then KORG 5x , new model over $5,000 dollars. Really bad. Keyboardist not happy with it. I play in church and I use all kind arranger keyboard, this can be my next one 😊 Thanks for this video 😊
Hallo! Danke velle voor de video maar... The demos are great but would be great if you play some sounds and especially the piano sounds. Otherwise admirations for the workstation 👍
I just got keyboard Emil. The sounds are very good generally but I would give the stock acoustic pianos a B+ at most played as solo instruments, at least so far. Can you pls tell Where is made under whose design. Looks like copeid from Yamaha PSR SX , I feel it's from China or ? How the sound quality if you compare with Yamaha PSR S or Korg PA, just an average or 70%.
@@johnroks Yes, PSR SX700 feels better, but at twice the price. But for someone who can only spend around 600€ SX700 is just not the option. Have you already sold your Medeli? Also, there are rumors that Yamaha will sort out new SX models this year. Do you know anything about it?
I just bought a new AKX10 and I'm not able to find how can I adjust the pitch in semitones of a single sound (part) The transpose function changes the pitch of the entire keyboard. I want to change for example part 1 only to +5 semitones. Would you help me please?
The 7 '' screen is very nice, but the sounds and styles seem underwhelming for the price. In the same price range the Korg PA300 and Yamaha psr sx600 have much better sounds and styles than this one.
WHERE TO BUY UK= DV347 EU (Netherland) = Klundert Music I bought mine from Klundert Music before it became available on DV247 which cost me more due to import tax
@@johnroks just put a part payment down myself for an sx700 was no point paying in full as they don't have any stock and are having a hard time getting them because the price of containers has gone up from 1000 to 3000 per load, also i was told the price will be going up by 3 percent next month because of that. I was told to stay well clear of these ones after having a chat with my local keyboard dealer who I trust to give me good honest advice. If your looking at this keyboard save some more and go for sx700 or even the 600(no touch screen on 600). Does the 700 have plenty of spaghetti western styles? as I love playing those and I won't find out for another month or 2nwhile I'm waiting for stock. 🖖🏻
@@allanallen1835 there are plenty styles you can download from the Internet. I've got styles from the Tyros and they work good on the 600, 700 and 900.
