Can I connect the USB port on HomeBase 3 to an external hard drive? No, the USB port cannot connect to an external hard drive. For details about how to insert the Hard Drive in the HomeBase 3, please refer to this article: How to expand the Local Storage of the S380 HomeBase (HomeBase 3)? If you have any further questions, please contact eufy support engineers for assistance.

Thank you for a quick and to the point video review. I like that you just get to the point without wasting time. Some people just waffle before they get to the point, which is very annoying. But you were spot on. Thank you ❤

thank you. camera setup to the S380 is dependent on the specific camera. For us it has been a journey since eufy is slowly enabling the cameras. If the cameras Edge Connection feature is enabled in the settings, then it's an easy click. Other cameras we had to reinstall and it came right up. We just reviewed the Solar Wall Camera and it has the Edge Connection feature but when you click it tells you it's coming in November. Can't wait.

Thank you so much for your explanations. You did get a couple of things wrong, however. You can not use an external hard drive according to Eufy. You can you use an internal HDD or SSD that is SATA connected. Finally, this new homebased 3 enables you to see pets.
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 9 месяцев назад
great catch. I think the confusion is their documentation says external hard drive when they should have said internal. now the question is where can you find a 16TB 2.5” internal drive:) support.eufy.com/s/article/What-is-the-S380-HomeBase-HomeBase-3-storage-type#:~:text=The%20S380%20HomeBase%20supports%20adding,a%20system%20with%201%20camera.

@@Appmyhome Don't think I've ever seen up on a 16T, but at least if it ever exists, we will be able to use it. LOL. They do exist, however. They are typically used for "Enterprise" purposes (huge organizations). And they can costs hundreds to thousands of dollars. Ain't nobody got time for that. LOL.😀

Does the homebase ring when the doorbell is pressed or does a chime need to be purchased separately?
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 3 месяца назад
You can set the homebase to ring, you can set the volume and select the sound. If you have an Alexa you can even have Alexa announce.

Hello, is the Ethernet cable connection needed in order for the home base to get a signal from the cameras ?
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 2 месяца назад
You only need the ethernet connection when setting up the S380. Afterword you can disconnect the ethernet and just use WiFi. They walk you through this in Settings->General->Connection. One thing when you do pair the cameras, when they say have the camera close to the Homebase make sure you are close. Then you can install them where you want them.
@justindonaldson3763
@justindonaldson3763 2 месяца назад
@@Appmyhome Thanks for the information. Also, is the signal strength stronger with the cameras being connected to the home base versus WiFi ?
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 2 месяца назад
the homebase connects to cameras either directly or via your router. they have a function called multi bridge that will optimize which method to use. they show you a map of which camera connects which way. in any case, there is no signal strength indicator I could find.

I have the OG Homebase E (1) is it worth it to upgrade to Homebase 3? Not worried about memory expansions or eufy compatibility. Does the homebase 3 performs faster, better & longer range?
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome Год назад
The S380 is definitely worth it because aside from the AI functions you can add additional storage. And range is not an issue (at least not for our home). As for which cameras will work you need to check the eufy compatibility chart, they add more all the time. One think, if your camera is compatible you MAY need to reinstall the camera. Just check the settings. support.eufy.com/s/article/Centralize-Your-Security-Ecosystem-with-HomeBase-3 BTW, S380 is only for eufy cameras.

When the Homebase 3 stops, you have no security devices recorded. when you are on holiday, there is no way to reactivate your homebase 3.
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 2 месяца назад
This is one issue with local recording to a single box, though keep in mind there are other devices in the chain that if they stop, like your router, will prevent recording. We use a digital loggers power strip that can sense if the internet is down and cycle power on a device. You could also put a smart plug on the homebase and have it cycle power every night or on demand remotely. Keep in mind recording to the cloud won't help if your internet is down, or the power to your home is off. Of course aside from the power issue, if you just record to the individual camera, when the network is back up you should be able to retrieve. That's the choice you need to make when defining your camera solution.

Thank U for this informative video. One question, can this be connected wirelessly to my router or it has to be wired? Thank U.
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 4 месяца назад
You're welcome. As for connecting wirelessly, the install requires a wired connection to your router, then you can connect to WiFi only. We have not tried WiFi only as it is preferred to be directly connected for performance reasons. Per the eufy app Homebase 3 settings: "During the setup process, HomeBase must connect to a router via an Ethernet cable. After setup, HomeBase can be switched to a Wi-Fi connection in the Side menu > My Devices > Select HomeBase > HomeBase Settings > Connection"

the homebase 3 (s380) comes with 16GB of built in internal SSD. you can add the drive to make even more space available but it is not required as the s380 will use the 16GB to store your videos.

Question, (the door bell - base combination ) I saw you can watch the videos and communicate with a visitor. After coming back from vacation, how do I dump/erase the stored videos on the 380?
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 9 месяцев назад
you can delete individual videos or you can format the drive, though then you erase everything.

it's so hard to find a reliable surveillance rated hard drive in 2.5-inch form that's larger than 1 TB. I can't imagine using SSD for 24/7 operation.
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 10 месяцев назад
that is a good question. I would imagine maybe 500 overwrites on an ssd. we presently are testing the eufy e330 4 cam kit and the s380 comes with a seagate 1TB hard drive pre installed. not sure which is better over time but I suspect the ssd uses less power. maybe best strategy is to plan to replace the driver every couple or 3 years.

I just received a Honebase 380, an S340 solar camera, a CAM3 camera, and a 4TB Samsung 2.5" SSD hard drive (bought separately for $139). Under typical usage , Eufy says that will store 60 years of data. I'll post another comnent after I have some experience with it. I am watching the reported security issues and how Eufy responds to them.
@Appmyhome

cool, that is some long term storage. we really like the S340 too. looking forward to hearing your update. Oh and the cool feature since you'll have multiple cameras is cross camera stitching.

Do you know, can this be located hard wired in the basement and not affect the wifi connectivity of the cameras? I have Arlo now, and their base station strengthens the wifi... therefore I didn't place it out of site in the basement. Id rather have it in the basement.

there are lots of factors with WiFi range. best bet would be to set it up and give it a try.

@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome Год назад
Hi Damieth, if you mean comparison to the home base 2, then the home vase 3 (s380) is much better as it allows for adding an external storage drive and an internal one. The other item is the 3 is not compatible with all the eufy cameras, though it is getting better. you can google eufy on their latest compatibility. If you are looking for more info from us we do have other eufy videos where the s380 is used that might provide more insight. Plus as you mention there are other sites with a more comprehensive technical review that are quite good.

Can I connect 3 flood cam ? For storage
@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome 8 месяцев назад
I don't see why not, we have 8 eufy cameras connected to it. While the S380 comes with 16 GB internal, we added an internal SSD for storage. We found a 480 GB model I think Kingston, and it works well and is sufficient storage for all our cameras. according to their website only to backup what the s380 has stored. you would need to get an internal ssd instead. we ended up using a 480 GB SSD. easy install. keep in mind that the s380 does have 16GB of storage natively which might be enough until you really need more.

@Appmyhome
@Appmyhome Год назад
internal or external? internal you would need to find a single 2.5” drive with that much. instead you can add an external drive up to 16tb. see their article. not sure if it can be two external drives adding up to 16tb. certainly 8 tb external sata drives are available. you could make a 16 Tb external drive by adding a 16tb internal drive into an external sata enclosure. support.eufy.com/s/article/What-is-the-S380-HomeBase-HomeBase-3-storage-type
