I don't own this particular plugin

So would this essentially be "Clipping"?

I think this is one of the areas that gets really interchangeable terminology wise! In this particular case what we are indeed doing is ‘clipping’ the emulated circuit inside the 1073 to get the transformer style drive/saturation/harmonic distortion sounds. I’ve seen plenty of people pretty much use clipping, saturation, drive and distortion almost interchangeably, however, so although this is definitely clipping, it is also pretty accurately ‘distortion’ as well as ‘drive’.

Thank you for the vídeo. Sorry but, the sound of the original has a trunk of punch and smacks for real... ...the distorted one sounds like "hi, I'm a noise among the mix..."

Hey, that’s totally cool! One of the most wonderful things about music is everybody’s taste is different, and we all experience music in different ways! When mixing, a lot of the time parts fight with each other and we need to make things fit. Things that seem nice in solo turn into a nightmare when put against other sounds! The purpose of the video isn’t to tell you which one to use, the purpose is to give you a new tool and idea that you can try when you discover that a snare sound isn’t fitting the way you want it to and need to do something to make it work! Thank you for watching!! 😊

@@AlexWhiteComposerNo way! I thank, Alex. I got your point. Even if something get cotrolled by saturation or distortion, or even by a clipper, and gets a bit "weak", it stil can (maybe) let me level that up and still avoid spiky transients, and more headroom pays off... Some kind of trade-off that can give more than I gave. Cool!

Yes! This is exactly it! That compromise benefits the whole track, and makes the entire song work better, even if that one sound feels a little smaller in solo! Again, just another tool for the toolbox! Happy music making and thank you for the lovely conversation!
