Is that a Virago in the background. I hope this is you next build. I just picked up an 82 XV750 and could use some inspiration. Your channel is great and has is part of the reason I bought a bike to build. I also have a 79 KZ650SR which is a bike that you don’t see many people building so I’m basically starting from scratch. Anyway I’m having a great time and thanks for all the awesome content.

I'm sure you've heard this already but if your working with aluminum and you leave the plastic on it will keep the metal from getting all messed up and scratched to shit from working with it. Do all your cutting drilling and bending with the plastic on and Peel it off when you do final assembly

Nice job, well executed! Not so sure about the position, think its about 5 tp 10 cm to near to the rear, way to much behind the wheelaxle. Weight distribution will make the bike wobble on higher speed or when going uphill. Or don't go that fast... .)

Hey mate! I recommend you add a tether to the quick release handle and the underside rack bracket. It could be a pain to find if you drop it while camping. Also if it’s ever loose you won’t lose it. Also did you add rubber to that underside bracket to prevent scratching?
@CafeRacerGarage
@CafeRacerGarage 3 года назад
Trevor Humes This is a very smart idea of yours and it was something that I had originally thought about but then forgot so thank you for the reminder and idea, they say great minds think alike. Yes I use the rubber for two reasons, one for scratching and the other for vibration as it kind of locks it in place without moving

@CafeRacerGarage
@CafeRacerGarage 4 года назад
@@q36spacemodulator This setup is just for me to go camping locally so I'm not worried, All my camping gear is super lightweight and all the heavy items will be as low as posable. This is no different to having someone sitting on the back or attaching a surfboard to the side of your bike, It's all fine as long as you ride the bike being mindful of the extra load. You are right tho, It's not Ideal and more forward and lower is best if you can :) Have a great day mate.

Why dun just remove that ugly plate and mount your saddlebag on the tail rack
@CafeRacerGarage

Great question, you need to space the bags out and support them so they don't swing around and this was the best way I could make this work and remove both bags in one go. hope that makes sense
