Third time's the charm. At least it was for me. Guess the main thing is trying not to get too frustrated when starting out. It's a steep curve, but small steps will get you there. Also look at Houdini as an IDE for 3D content. Of course a bit of scripting background can help :) Cheers, Mo
Hey, great tutorial. But I am having troubles with the remesh node, it creates a low poly mesh unlike the one in the video. When I compared it to your file the remesh ui is different. Hope you can help.
Ah the hardest part about learning Houdini. Every version is so different from the last that it makes following older tutorials really difficult/impossible. I couldn't match it perfectly but I've got pretty good results by setting the Iterations to 1, Smoothing to 0, Edge Lengths to 'Uniform' and Target Size to 0.04. Mess with the Target Size until you get something you like.
I did more or less the same as TemperMode, but I found that messing with the 'adaptive' edge lengths mode got it looking a tad bit more organic. Just fiddle the min and max sliders till it looks good to you.
New user here. Would it work if I try to animate this by changing the parameters in timeline? I think animation would be real nice for this. Edit: Thanks for the vid.
Heyhey, just give it a try. Setting keyframes by alt-clicking in the respective value's field, opening it's timeline by shift-clicking into the field. I suspect that animating some of the parameters works well, while others might result in a jaggy animation. Cheers, Mo
Hi Entagma, thank you for great tutorial\s! I'm trying to evolve what I did following this tutorial into something so I animated this boney structure (mountain node, attribnoise, same problem) however connect adjacent pieces node breaks connections between points. I did search the entire Internet and only found this line of vex "addprim(geoself(),"polyline",@ptnum,@ptnum+1);" which creates a stable line structure but unlike adjacentpieces it has far less outer lines and I dislike the generated shape. I'm a turbo-beginner so I can't VEX myself out of this one, pls help?
I spent literal 6 hours scouring the internet for a solution, only to type this plea for help, return to houdini, look at my node structure with renewed zeal, say to myself hm what if I move attribnoise node downstream from connect adjacent pieces, and that solved my problem. :))))))) damn i love\hate houdini...
@@danteuss88 can you explain more about this ?? I cant find a solution either.. I see people asking this question all over the place and no one take the time to explain how to fix it. Strange. You would think the people creating the videos might step in to help as well.
