You're right. I distinctly remember when this out of the blue band came on the radio with this song. The whole 80s metal scene came on like an avalanche. They got pushed aside unfortunately but this was the catalyst for sure.
This was the first cassette tape I ever bought. Metal Health, what a great album! Great memories, great band and for sure a great time to be a teenager!! Long live the 80’s!
I love QR and always have. And yes, they do sound good but do understand that this performance here has been over dubbed. Still great though. If you watch close, you can see.
In my opinion quiet riot started what became known as '80s metal and hard rock without these guys who knows what would happen it might have been more than 70s crap
Frankie Banali passes away 2 days ago. RIP brother. I was 16 years old when this song came out. I bought the cassette and cranked the shit out of it for years. Still one of my favorites today. The video for this song was awesome back in the day.
The first live band I ever seen as a kid. I was 13. November 8th 1983" Opened for Sabbath on the "Born Again" tour. This was a great band. Randy would have been proud!
That was my first concert too back in 1983, I was or just turning 13 when I saw them. What a concert, then I saw them at a small venue here in Vancouver in the mid to late 90's where I got to stand right in front of them.
I disagree.. Van halen paved the way for the 80's rock wave . Out side of this song their other 2 hits are covers cum on feel the noise and mama weer all crazy now are both slade covers
💯 Metal Health changed the game in 83! QR kicked the door wide open, it simplified Metal's formula in a good way. Without Quiet Riot, 80's Metal could of been too soft in the US, with less bass, less drums, and less anthems. The fact that their album was the first Metal album to break the Billboard 100 and reach #1 says it all. That INFLUENCE cannot be overstated.💪
@@jestermindcrime1773 Wrong. This is clearly live - his phrasing and tone are different than the studio version on certain parts, and he holds note longer.
Because he is a real rock n roll singer! It's not exactly the same being live and should be even better live as it is here. Check out the Live at the US Fest set!!😎
I saw The Guess Who a couple years back and they had the legend Rudy Sarzo on bass, he is still strutting around the stage like he is here, just so good.
I went crazy for this song in HS, living in the Santa Cruz mountains. I don’t think I would have every listened to metal if not for these rock gods They are totally underrated
no metal band prior to these guys cracked the top 10 in the 1980's. I remember when this album came out and the buzz was awesome. Finally metal started to be played on the FM and MTV was playing their videos as well. RIP Kevin you are sorely missed.
I remember this song when I was like 9. I was with my dad at his work and I asked his co-worker if he could play this song. The guy did and cranked it loud. My dad just rolled his eyes. 😂
Sad to see Kevin Dubrow go. This band was super great. LEGENDARY!!! RIP KEVIN DUBROW: OCTOBER 25-1955-11-2007. RIP: FRANKIE BANALI. YOU GUYS REALLY FRIGGIN ROCKED!!!
I saw them back in the 90s in my hometown. Incredible energy! Carlos threw a pick towards me but gal behind me grab it from my hands. He got pissed and grabbed my hand and put another pick in my hand. Being in the front row next to the speakers was insane! The crowd pushing forward was quite painful, but worth it.
I'm a big fan of so-called "classic rock" and a lot of mellow stuff from the 60s and 70s. That said, I really appreciate this album. I'm not much of a fan of anything else they did, but this album rocked. And it got things going for what eventually led to a lot of garbage. But doesn't that always happen with any trend. RIP Kevin Dubrow. Your voice was the BEST for this genre.
First listened to this in the 6th grade. Was in love with Quiet Riot ever since. Metal Health is still my favorite album. Damn do I miss Dubrow and Banali.
When you are down, then there is time for depressive music and rumination before: heavy metal music -> this song is a classic & very suitable for such situations. And if you are down because of a mental health person, this song is particularly enjoyable! #heavymetalresilience
The year this came out. I was in Arizona and I bought it at a mall. They had a car stereo outlet inside the mall and I ran down there and I put it in a $500 Kenwood cassette player and it ate it😂😂 I ran right back down to the record store Bought it again 🤘
I saw a Quiet Riot here in Hartford Connecticut at the Webster Theater man probably 10 to 15 years ago with Kevin Dubrow and the whole original lineup and it was an awesome awesome show. Carlos cavazo was shredding the guitar Frankie was killing the drums and Rudy sarzo was just laying down the f****** beat it was a show one of the best shows I had ever seen the arena show or Club show they were on point they were razor sharp and I guess this happened some years before Kevin Dubrow passed away don't remember the exact year he died but it was a great great concert in a testament to the 80s heavy metal
Kevin took on an explosiveness with his voice on this record as Randy did on guitar with Ozzy. Kevin's voice is unique and powerful! Much better than the early QR of the 70s.
Seen them in '83 when they opened for Iron Maiden (Piece of Mind tour) at Madison Square Garden when I was a 17 yr old long-haired head banger from NJ. Great Times!!
Saw them in '82 SF Bay area ,back when MTV was the real deal and Metal ROCKED! BEST days of my life!! Head Bang!!! Sorry for the Millenniums who will never experience them back in day!!
Grumpy Grilled Cheese not necessarily true. I'm a huge 80's rock fan and I refuse to listen to pop and I've seen lots of greats such as Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi and GNR
