Quilt-As-You-Go Double-Sided Placemat Tutorial with FREE Pattern!

I just love Quilt-As-You-Go Placemats. I have so many that I have created using my favorite 2 1/2-inch strip rolls. I just love how each one turns out a little different, but they all are clearly part of one set showing off the fabrics from your favorite line.
And the best part, because this is Quilt-As-You-Go, when you are done sewing, you are also done quilting and you just have to bind your placemat!
But when I saw Tula Pink's De La Luna I knew I had to also make these placemats double sided and use all three colorways of Day of the Dead painted faces from the line on one side and the strip roll on the other.
In today's video I show you how to cut your strips quickly, make double-sided placemats using the quilt-as-you-go method and give you a FREE pattern so you can do this yourself.

Will try to make placemats like this with my new aque quilt strip dies. I was following o.k until measuring the cutting …thinking by time I get done will have a rug mug mat. lOl .I will wat h again then watch video o. Adding edging thank you

I would put the bright green with the pinky set. That color is in that print as well as the black-grey set. Yes it is in the blue set, but there are more strips in that group and not as many strips, with no good contrast in the pinky group. Just my take on this. These are not my colors, type print either, but my daughter would love this as would my grandson!

Love your videos but the background music is very distracting for me. Is there any way to turn that off during the portion where you're talking?

The background music is at -35 decibels when I am talking, which is barely audible. If you are having trouble, I suggest switching to another device.

It's not the device. My hearing is very acute and it's difficult for me to filter out extraneous sounds. (I have a hard time with lights that hum or intercom noise in the grocery store, too! LOL) By the way, individuals with hearing loss may have a similar issue as me since they have to amplify the volume and it will cause the background to be louder as well. In any case, I just thought I'd ask - thanks anyway. Your instruction is great otherwise!

You might try lowering the volume a bit. The audio is recorded on a separate track and enhanced, so by lowering the volume you could reduce or eliminate the background music, but the vocals will still come through.

I agree Pam. The music keeps me from coming back to the site. It is not beneficial to the video and is very distracting. I will not watch a How-To video with music in the background. Sorry
