Quilts into Art: the Process! 

Ángeles, que te hayas tomado el tiempo para comentar tan atentamente mi trabajo significa mucho para mí de una manera tan sincera. También me gustaría tomarme el tiempo para responderte adecuadamente, ya que planteas algunos puntos interesantes. Dios mío, decir que mi trabajo te recuerda a Gaudí es un gran cumplido para mí. Es extraño, pero hace muchos años tuve el gran privilegio de viajar a Barcelona para el Festival Mundial de Música y Danza Folclórica de 2004. Por supuesto, pude experimentar la genialidad del arte de Gaudí en persona. Cualquier cosa en mi obra que sea similar a Gaudí es ciertamente subconsciente. Tendré que aprender más sobre el artista que mencionas, Tapies :-) Sí, también soy pianista profesional, y quizás eso haya influido también en mi trabajo. Siempre me ha gustado la música Y el arte y no puedo vivir sin ninguno de los dos. Gracias por ser una persona tan abierta y perceptiva que camina sobre esta Tierra.

Oh my goodness, to say that my work is reminding you of Gaudi is such a tremendous compliment to me. It is is strange, but many years ago , i had the great pirivilege to travel to Barcelona for the World Folk Music and Dance Fsitival of 2004. Of course I was able to experience the genius of Gaudi's art in person. Anything in my work that is similar to Gaudi is most certainly subconcious. I will have to learn more about the artist you mention, Tapies :-) Yes, I am also a professional pianist, and perhaps that has influenced my work as well. I have always loved music AND art and can't really be without either. Thank you for being such an open and perceptive person walking on this Earth. "

Hi Marie. Thank you so much for sharing as well! Don't worry about what anyone thinks, just go for it. For me, having a chance to just look at art in general, is very inspiring and Art is always subjective. I would say, just get out and go see an art exhibit or quilt exhibit ) that interests you take a look at what’s in the exhibit. What draws you in? What do you absolutely like/not like? Take notes. It's YOUR journey. . It’s OK not to like certain things and it’s OK to love certain things like I said, it’s all subjective. As far as being creative, maybe start with a smaller size canvas. You would be surprised at what you can do s working smaller . Do you happen to like batik fabric? I love batiks and find it so versatile to work with it. It’s also a really high-quality tightly woven fabric that makes working smaller easier. Get to know your fabric types, and look around on RU-vid to see what you like art-wise and working with smaller types of pieces. I hope this helps. Please let me know how things go for you.

What a poetic response:) thank you for taking time to view some of my work and respond. How do I begin? Sometimes I just see which colors I am drawn to and start there. There are also universal forms ( see my Gaudi video) that keep me inspired.

Yes, certain pieces, such as "Birthing of Ideas" ( which take a few months to make) are NFS, however, if someone wants this piece in particular, I am taking offers to have a similar one- of -a -kind art piece commissioned just for them. VJ, Thank you for your kind words and alerting me to this sound issue. Unfortunately it takes a tremendous amount of time (hours) to go into the sound portion off the video, and make changes to a video longer than a 1-2 minutes, bringing out the words louder than the music. Then I also have to re-upload the video, which takes another few hours. I can try to put in subtitles, through the youtube application, so you can make out the words better. In future, I will certainly try to improve upon this! Hopefully, this will help.
