Full coverage of the bronze medal bout of the women's -57kg judo event at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Judo made its very first appearance at the Olympic Games in 1964 in Tokyo. However, it was not included in the Olympic programme in 1968 in Mexico City, but returned, never to leave again, at the 1972 Games in Munich. As for women's judo, it was added to the Games in 1992 in Barcelona.
Men and women now compete in seven weight categories. There was originally a men's category open to all weights, but this event was withdrawn after the 1984 Games in Los Angeles.

Went to high school with this girl, what a trip. She always had a smile on her face in school, funny that's all I can remember of her. Regardless, my daughter is so inspired by her and wants to be the next Olympic MMA from Whidbey Island. What a great inspiration for all of us ladies!

Marti has always been very talented. I recall videos when she was just 9 years old in the state games. Wonderful person in life as we know each other being she trains with one of my old students in San Jose , former national champion rated 9th. in the world Jose Bencosme . Martis personality has always been one of the very best dedicated with love and compassion teaching the youth of today the sport of kodokan judo. I absolutely adore her dedication. She's up there now with Rhonda and Kayla and hoping there will be more female Olympians from America in the future.

She is a sweetheart as I am dear friends with her myself. Hopefully over the last two years you have moved up successfully a few more belts keeping focused. Marti is very devoted on teaching children judo and I enjoy seeing her compassion when doing so.

Bizarre au judo, il y a toujours 2 médailles de bronze. Pourquoi les gagnants des 2 groupes dans le repêchage ne s'affrontent pas pour le bronze comme ils le font pour l'or?

I know nothing about Judo, why did the match end on that trip/throw?
@netomurbach
@netomurbach 7 лет назад
The match ends if you manage to throw your opponent flat on the back (ippon). In this case, the american used a ko-uchi-gari, one of the many techniques in judo.

Sorry for the book below but I thought I would cover many of America's female champions as well as their coaches, all are totally amazing. Yes marti is outstanding but Kayla was the best of all time in the major events and the only female from America to ever take a gold medal at the Olympics, actually two. Kayla was the first ever out of *all* the guys and ladies to ever take a gold medal in judo for America in Olympic history as well. Kayla was on Rhonda's local team and competed against Rhonda all the time beating Rhonda at every tournament. I myselfwas on the American National team so I was always around the best female champions in America year after year and I competed against Jimmy Pedro , Martis coach many many times back in the day training both at the former National judo teams facility and at the Olympic training center two blocks over in Colorado springs so I have been and trained with the very best in America as well as competed against the very best in the world. My old team captain was actually the other 2012 Olympic coach and former 1984 (before my time on the national level) Olympic bronze medalist , Edward " Ed " Liddie . I was dear friends with his fiancee at the time Tammie Travis and her two brothers Billy & Tim Travis all national champions from Alaska who all were selected for the USA National Team . Ed and Tammy was married within the year that I was selected for the United States National team after winning many State National & Jr. Olympic medals for many years from 9 years old untill 18 however though I could not go on the national team untill I finished high school though I was selected at just 16 years old, (parents rules). Ed and Tammy then had their first son shortly after. But Tammie Liddie (Tammie Travis is excellent in Judo , former Alaskan state gold medalist and former National Champion & another former National Team female that came from my local dojo originally that you should check out is Diana Maganero originally from the Ives Judo team in Miami before getting selected for the National team before me. She won many state, national and Jr. Olympic medals also and though she is up there in age to compete anymore, a few years back she won the world gold medal in the Masters division and today she is a coach in Louisiana plus a International and Olympic Referee. You should indeed check her out, she is amazing and helped set the path for World female champions of America. Another one who I trained, Christina Vasquez silver medalist in the world and one of the youngest female judoka ever chosen for the American Olympic team before getting seriously injured in the Orange Blossom Open. She is currently living in Georgia that is about to get married. She is another talented female judo player. To say the least, though I taken several national medals, Ed Liddie being alot less weight gave me a problem on the mat but not always. Jimmie Pedro had always dominated me when tournaments came around and deuy Mitchell, Ed liddies former Olympic team mate. Tom Masterson, the former 1984 head Olympic judo coach for these wonderful champions unfortunately just died 2 months ago in which I am unsure if our former Olympians know. Duey Mitchell does as he still trains were I am locally but unsure if the Olympic community knows. Former world champion Ed Maily who trained many Olympians had just died 3 weeks ago as well. A total sad time in 2019 for Americans too judo players. It's the 10 years anniversary since America lost its former military world champion Harold Forshey who trained special forces judo prior and during the Iraq war. His service in vietam as a war hero will never be forgotten. Herold trained many of Mari Malloys team mates and world champions today. But I wanted to share many female American judo champions names with you and the wonderful coaches that trained them. America does have outstanding female competitors.

L'americana mi sembra la Montacuti degli anni '80 : si combatte sempre piegati in due poi presa e si buttava a terra : fu una delle prime a combattere in questo modo è chiunque la incontrava , perdeva !!!!!
