in my experience, the first 1-3 days are very hard, because you are breaking a habit and your crutch wont be there... Then it gets easier as the days go on. But for me, every time I relapse is around the 1 month mark when the withdrawls are completely gone and im no longer in "super anti-coffee" mode, where its juste kind of an after thought, and then go see some friends that are drinking beer or something and think to myself "may as well have a small coffee for a lil boost of energy, its not as bad as alchool"... then the rest is history, the next morning ill have a coffee and the story repeats itself... I really want to quit it, its when i let my guard down the it comes back...
I quit a few days ago, 4 kcups every morning by 10am plus Monsters. I'm still in lala land, constant anxiety, sadness, can barely work more than 20 minutes before wanting to pass out. Good luck everyone, you're in for a ride.
Congratulations on quitting! How are you doing now? I am on day four and, amazingly I don’t have a headache, but I have very bad fatigue, inability to concentrate and I’m surprisingly emotional. Also I think my libido is down a little bit. All of this makes sense since noradrenaline and dopaminergic signaling is decreased during the withdrawal. This is surprisingly difficult.
@@bredenis5 Thank you!!!!!!! Doing awesome, It took some months for me to really regain a feel of any normalcy but totally worth it. Now the thought of having any sort of caffeine in my body makes me feel sick. Best thing of all, zero panic attacks and zero anxiety since. Caffeine is just as bad as alcohol in my opinion (from an addiction standpoint). Best of luck my friend, fight through it and the benefits will show through in no time!!
@@what_the_fff i’m so glad to hear that you are still free of caffeine! That is awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience it’s going to give me the strength to tough this out!
In my experience, what helps me the most with the cravings is "withdrawals meditations"... Not trying to block the pain associated with it but actually embellishing it and allowing it to express itself... sounds corny, but it really helps big time... Its now clear that cravings come in waves, its not a constant thing... if you can survive the wave (which typically lasts only a few minutes), your mind naturally goes to something else and the craving will go away for a few hours... the more you do this, the less the cravings come, and the bigger the gap becomes in between waves... The challenge then becomes to notice when your cravings reappear when your guard is down...
Hey Steph. This makes a lot of sense! I felt terrible in early stages and just wanted it to go away. Luckily I persevered and am still free for the past 7 months. It’s one of the best things I’ve done and I’ll update again soon on how it’s gone. You can do it!! 💪🏼
This is true I have the same thing with alcohol, the cravings come in waves. As long as you can get through the 30-40 minute window you’re good. I’m on month 8 no alcohol now and day 3 no caffeine but reduced caffeine down 1 cup a day the past 10 days and no caffeine last 2 weekends. For me it’s mostly to help with my terrible acid problems which are always triggered by caffeine.
7 days today. Its the first day I can honestly say havent felt crap aside for energy dips early to mid afternoon. only real symptoms now are aches and pains in lower back hamstrings which come and go. If it never got better than this I think I'd still take this over a life on the caffeine curve...
@@StevoRuns I had completely forgotten I posted this. Now at 8.5 months and I finally feel that I am totally recovered from caffeine. Though I thought that at 5 months but can feel improvements in myself even since then....
2 weeks for me. Quit because of horrible sleep, always nervous and social anxiety. Still pretty tired but sleep is a lot better. Cant wait till after the 3rd week, tnx for the video.
@@StevoRuns Hey Stevo, thanks for asking. Drinking a decaf every now and then. Sleep is deeper, no more heavy crashes after dinner for some reason. One of the better decisions i made this year. How are you? Anything you notice after a year caffeine free?
I’m on day 3. Energy is up and down. Headaches are calming down, but I’m have such terrible body aches and muscle cramps. I’ll get thru it…I’ve done it once before and I’ll do it again! I did an elimination diet to find some foods that were bothering me, and part of the elimination included caffeine. Now that I look back on it, I bet it was the caffeine causing all of the symptoms! I’m trying to power on, but it is rough. I work and have two young kids…
Hey, well done for getting to day 3/4 and sorry you feel like crap. Get plenty of water in and some extra sodium to combat the cramps and headaches. You’re probably right about it being the caffeine giving you symptoms. My heartburn, unpredictable toilet habits (sorry 😂) neck tension headaches and many other things went away after quitting, it’s been a god send to my health! I’m the same, 2 kids and work each day and that’s why I feel like I needed coffee so much but it turns out you’re better off without it. That’s my opinion anyway. Good luck 👍🏼
I did the same now back on the gaps diet and I had to eliminate coffee. I did notice I got worse drinking coffee again after about a month in. I’ve been drinking coffee for the past 2 months this’s my last time I’m never going back on the crazy juice. Day 2 for me. Crazy anxiety and bad depression.
@@Filthycoffin hi filthy coffin on day 7 off caffeine I made it 2.3 days and caved last time last major temptation was at three days everyone saying sorry to me in the grocery store compulsively was to much I had to confront then overapologisers my pet peeve you will probably find yourself calmer and sleep better
I'm still on caffeine, but reducing the intake with gradually bigger portions of decafeinated and smaller part of regular. By far i'm 2/3 decaf. One thing i identify myself the most with your video is the sleeping and dreaming. Altough i still take some caffeine my sleep hours have increased and i feel i'm having a deeper sleep. Not dreamig yet tough. but my "dreams" used to be like being half aware of my enviroment while i'm sleeping and reviewing in my mind what I did during the day or my to do's. and these last days with the caffeine reduction i just disconnect while sleeping and yes, i wake up with the usual foggy mind, but with a more rested mind and restored body sensation. i think by next week I'll go caffeine free.
I'm about 21 days in now - zero caffeine. I must admit, I don't feel great at all. 48 hours in and I had mild vertigo symptoms. These lifted after 8 days. Energy & mood management has been dreadful. I have nearly caved in a few times, but am determined to push on. I was driving myself through the day with 4-5 large mugs of coffee for years. Uff - ever wish you never started ?
Hi JB, that’s pretty rough that you still don’t feel great but you’re at the 3 week point where things should start to improve…. hopefully! I’m 29 days now and will make a vid for the 30 days this weekend. I definitely feel better now but it’s hard thing to do for sure! Keep at it 👍🏼 let us know how you get on!
Hey not, sure if this was for me but if so… I’m feeling great! Nearly a year in and the temptation is gone apart from some random situations where you suddenly think of a nice coffee but at this point you just don’t have one! I have no withdrawals now and my old headache problem has gone away. It was 100% the coffee causing it!
Sounds rough mate. Day 2 and 3 are about the worst, I felt dreadful then too but trust me it’s worth it! How strong a stimulant caffeine must be if you feel this rough when you stop! Keep going bud it gets better and hopefully it goes away quickly for you.
@@cameronbarke6644I feel you. Quit taking coffee a week ago, I’m having severe anxiety by body feels shaky. I feel I’m going nuts. I’m just afraid, hope this passes fast.
Thanks Laura, I’ve managed the full 30 days now and I’ll make a video with the full findings of it. I would really consider giving it a go, you’ll be surprised how much you don’t need caffeine! But I know it’s a big deal to stop completely. 30 days won’t do you any harm though to see how you feel.
Today is my first day easing off caffeine. One cup of tea is it for today. I went down to minimal caffeine years back. I miss waking up feeling fresh. Health issues are my reason. Thanks for the video. It helps with my motivation. BTW white chocolate doesn't contain caffeine. It's not even chocolate.
Hey you’re welcome. Glad to hear you’re going back to minimal caffeine and yes it will deal with many health issues for you hopefully. It halted my headache issues to nearly nothing from having them daily! Take it slowly man you can do it 👍🏼
Day 3 here, I’ve been eating butter and drinking water non stop. I’m also a Carnivore so I think that has reallllly helped my withdrawal symptoms to be so bad.
Hey Julie. Yes it is a big thing after drinking tea and coffee for years and years. My body is not sure what’s going on but it will adjust eventually hopefully. Good luck to you if/when you give it a try and I’ll do more updates as time goes on to see if it’s been worth it. Take care
hello my pomme peasant brother, from ya British sister in nz!!! Ya definitely look more swag with the brown hair. Thanks for doing this video. its real encouraging. bahhahaha im attempting day 1 and im already in pain!. I love how ya answer people on here, thats so cool!
Well hello NZ! 😂 that blonde hair took so long to grow out but it was funny at the time… never again. Day one is a killer man and I’m sorry to say it will get worse tomorrow and next but worth it if you can pull it off! Good luck 👊🏼
On my 8th day of being caffeine-free. I had the headache on the first day then the succeeding days were feeling tired and constant need to drink. Sleep was okay, I am battling insomia related to anxiety (reason I decided cold turkey). However, on the 5th day up to now I do not feel tired. My sleep are not that long, I still wake up then took some time to go back to sleep but we are getting there. My vitamins and minerals are saving me.
Well done for 8 days in! Things got better quite fast for myself and I hope that’s the case for you too. When your sleep levels out and you finally feel like you’re getting enough… that’s a game changer. Having the stress of caffeine gone will hopefully ease your anxiety too! Good luck 🤞🏼
@@healthiswealth1452 I had completely forgotten I posted this. Now at 8.5 months and I finally feel that I am totally recovered from caffeine. Though I thought that at 5 months but can feel improvements in myself even since then....
Hello mate, it can be to be honest. How was your intake before quitting and did you go cold turkey? It shows how reliant your body was on caffeine though and it will pass. Hopefully wears off soon for you.
The crash in the afternoon, you may wanna take a closer look at your diet ! Im on day 6 and also crash after lunch hahaha i guess i have to face reality. The food i eat may not be great.
I did the same now back on the gaps diet and I had to eliminate coffee. I did notice I got worse drinking coffee again after about a month in. I’ve been drinking coffee for the past 2 months this’s my last time I’m never going back on the crazy juice. Day 2 for me. Crazy anxiety and depression like when I stopped smoking.
I’m on day 7 of reducing my caffeine. I would drink a macchiato with 3 shots of espresso (300mg) of caffeine. I went down to 1 cup of matcha (70mg) caffeine. First day I made the switch sever headache. After that nothing. The matcha actually makes me feel great. I wanted to go completely off but the health benefits of matcha sounds like a good alternative.
I've cut out caffeine twice, and I wish I stuck with it the first time. Both times @ the 3-4 day mark, I've had intense body aches in my joints (mostly lower body..hips, etc). They lasted for 3-4 days the first time. I also had headaches the first 2-3 days but those are now gone. The first time I went caffeine free, I did feel more calm. However it slowed down my digestion and that's ultimately why I went back on it.
The withdrawals are not nice at all! It’s maybe worth having small amounts of caffeine if it help for digestion rather than drinking it full on. I have some decaf now and have no old symptoms at all and my stomach feels fine. Go with whatever works though I guess. All the best
I went cold turkey before and struggled with how low it took my mood , this time round i am definitely going to wean myself of it over a period of 2 to 3 weeks.
Hi great 👍🏼 video.I get daily debilitating migraines and I have 3 to 4 cups of coffee a day.I’m going to give it up on my one week staying home vacation.what do you drink now in the morning? Thank you 😊
Thank you very much! I think you are going to be surprised how much you feel better without caffeine! My headaches were daily too but not as strong as a migraine but now 6 months in I have a headache like once or twice a month so it has been life changing for me personally. Your week off is a great time to start but be warned, it’s not nice at the beginning but it’s so so worth it if you can keep it up and give it enough time to clear the caffeine out for good. I drink warm milk or roasted chicory now but mainly just more water. Good luck to you and let me know if quitting helps your headaches, I’m certain it will!
What’s the reasons for wanting to quit? If it’s only one per day and you have no side effects then you’re fine, but you want to quit, so there must be something telling you to stop? It shouldn’t be too difficult for you to give it a try and see what difference it makes and see if one coffee is actually worth having or is it making you tired etc. I would stop for a month and see. All the best
Day 3 for me. My hunger has been a constant thing since I quit. I also feel weak and get shortness of breath really quickly. I quit cold turkey. I would drink coffee for about 6-10 hours a day, constantly sipping on it. Lately I’ve been drinking 5-8 shots of espresso daily. I hope things get better soon.
@@StevoRuns I don’t mind the nausea, headache and fatigue. I’m really struggling with hunger and cravings. I started keto 3 weeks ago. Before quitting caffeine my appetite was almost nonexistent; I was forcing myself to eat. Now all I think about is food.
I'm on day 4 without it. First two days was awful awful, I had really bad nausea, acidity, palpitations, blood pressure was up.. and the worst part was my anxiety. I felt the worst. At first I thought it was just plain anxiety so I went to the emergency room at 9pm on day2 to get checked and to ask for medicine. When the doctor asked me if I drink coffee, that's the only time I was able to connect it all together. Anyway, he gave me Omeprazole for the stomach acidity and propranolol for the palpitations. The medicine worked but I'm not out of the woods yet because my anxiety is still there and sometimes I would get chills and still retch. I hope this gets better soon TT
Ah man, that’s some severe reaction to quitting! At least it’s an eye opener to what caffeine is maybe causing and you will feel so much better once this all passes. I hope that’s soon for you! Good luck
Stopped drinking coffee 3 days ago going on my fourth taking a shower at 2 am because of the head ache. Funny thing is I didn’t even realize it was caffeine withdraw. Just thought it was a migraine. Well made me realize how my body is way to depend on it. And well goin on my fourth day and still feeling like shit. Been having high blood pressure so o hope this is one of the reasons been on a diet for a month and now realized this. Im an addict lol. But once the head aches are gone feel like I’d be okay. Wish me luck
You’re nearly there! I shouldn’t be much more than 4 days but can’t guarantee it haha, it’s so worth it though mate so keep going, the worst is behind you. Good luck
About eighteen months ago I quit for 5 days, days 2, 3, 4, I had the headache, not sure about the fifth as i was taking headache tablets, but I began again when i could not sleep. But now I am reducing again, hopefully this summer or even spring time I will again wuit.
I need to cut down for sure! Might try to phase it out, I couldnt go cold turkey like you, congratulations! Football has took me right out the running scene, I got a bit carried away haha
Mate tell me about it. So close man and far too many beers though out but was an awesome Euros. I phased it out over about 10 days and it made it less severe but it’s not easy that’s for sure but I’m feeling better already and I’m sleeping like a gooden. Good luck if you try it sometime
@@StevoRuns best tournament I have seen as an England fan and was lucky enough to get to 4 games (Czech, Germany, Denmark and Italy), cried haha! Great to hear its brung so many benefits. I have about 2 coffees a day and 2 teas so going to cut down slowly but surely!
It is rough on the first day or 3! Maybe just make that little bit of caffeine smaller and smaller until it’s gone, should ease you into it better. Good luck
53 years old day 8 of giving up caffeine, just paused your video on day 3, to say you probably don't feel as bad as you thought, because paracetamol has caffeine in, and to ask are you still off caffeine?
Hello. Well done for quitting after probably a good few years drinking caffeine! I was corrected on the caffeine in paracetamol, they don’t all have caffeine in unless you choose the ones that do contain it. In my house as a youngster we had the Morrisons tablets and they always had it in and I assumed they all did. I am still off it it’s been a few years and I occasionally have one with caffeine and it makes me feel funny but perked up a bit. I accidentally had a large one from Costa yesterday and can’t remember ask in for decaf and it made me feel weird for hours so I keep off it now and have decaf which doesn’t affect me at all. How are you feeling after 8 days?
@StevoRuns thanks for the reply, and well done, you, I wasn't sure giving up caffeine would be beneficial in the long run. As I've never heard from anyone telling me if they thought it was worth giving up or not.. so I took to RU-vid, I've seen on a other channel saying it takes at least 3 weeks before you body is free of caffeine I'll give it that long at least. Thanks 😊
Wow, I’m sorry to hear that! Do you cut down gradually or go cold turkey? I would maybe try to cut down by one cup at a time until your body is used to the new feeling you get from less caffeine and eventually get down to zero. If you’ve tried this already then I’m sorry it’s so rough for you.
I’m on day 3 no caffeine, I’ve had a headache every day and my legs ache like a bitch. I thought it must be something else but reading the comments it’s a symptom 😮
Hi, you should be on the back end of the headaches now hopefully! Try some electrolytes or some salt in your water maybe. Will be worth it in the long run 👍🏼
