This week we explore the Dingle Peninsula, one of the most amazing spots along the Wild Atlantic Way.
While here we were lucky enough to be put up in a lovely BnB, Harriet's Cottage.
This provided us with a shelter from terrible hail and snow storms. It also gave us a brilliant opportunity to give La Bamba a deep clean and explore the little town of Dingle.
After the storms, the sun broke through and we got our freedom to really explore the Dingle Peninsular.
We decided to drive over the Connor pass, but while on top we spot a small track leading away and decided to make the most of the amazing weather, and hike up it. We are rewarded, with amazing views over the south coast of Dingle and across the water over to Dingle. At the end of a slightly boggy walk across the moors we arrive at a pinnacle jutting out above the lower lying lands beyond. We are really blown away by the beauty.
Returning to the car we drive a short way along the winding mountain road of Conor Pass before stopping at a small waterfall on the side of the road. following the waters to their source we are confronted with Peddlers Lake a large pool surrounded by imposing cliffs. We then drive on to Brandon Point to take in the sea air, we then double back on ourselves to return to Dingle town. Here we enjoyed a pint with new friends and relaxed in the BnB.
The next day we headed out to Slea Head Drive. An amazing drive that skirts along the western tip of the peninsular. We explore ancient ring forts, discovering some of Ireland's distant past and delve underground into a prehistoric souterrain. Driving on we follow a winding road along the rugged cliff tops towards Dunmore Head. This wild headland looks out over the beautiful Blasket Islands. We stop here for some food and visit Coumeenoole Beach. Continuing on along the drive we arrive at Dunquin Pier an amazing structure that winds down from the cliff tops to the rock strewn waters below. further still along the road we come to Gallarus Oratory an amazingly well preserved ancient stone building. Our final stop of the day is Brandon Creek, here the days activities catch up with us and we find ourselves tired and hungry and decided to head back to the AirBnB to rest up for tomorrows adventures. Although this will have to wait until next week...
We finish this vlog with a tour of our AirBnB. We just want to say a big thank you to Anthony and Melissa who let us stay here. The hospitality of the Irish has been unparalleled, and the opportunity of bath was very appreciated.
