This week we bring you along for a week in our vanlife on the south coast in Ireland! After 100 days in nature spots, we try swapping the rural country life for the big city life in Cork. Iz thinks she can thrash Tom at cycling and we fill you in on where we will be taking you along with us in future videos.
If you're new around here - welcome and thank you for stopping by to our channel. We hope to bring you good positive vibes each week with our videos. We are Tom and Iz - a couple from Cornwall who decided to hit the road and embrace a new way of life, living and exploring in our tiny home on wheels, La Bamba. We invite you along with us on our recent escapades in our weekly vlogs. We love to embrace adventure and soak up nature every day. We're currently traveling around Ireland in our transit van and have just finished the Wild Atlantic Way and are now making our journey towards Rosslare, exploring along the way. Ireland has really stolen our hearts; come along with us on this week's episode as we explore the city of Cork and then get our cycling legs on the Greenway! If you've missed our travels so far - check out our previous episodes, we upload weekly on a Sunday at 5pm :)
You join as whilst Iz takes a morning dip in the sea and then whips us up a sausage sandwich and we start our day of exploring. Our first stop of the day is at Nohoval which looks dramatic in the stormy weather. Thanks so much to everyone who has sent us tips for exploring Ireland, we really appreciate all the recommendations for places to visit!
After 100 days exploring the wild rugged coast line of the Wild Atlantic Way we head onto our first motorway in months near the city of Cork and it feels quite exciting driving on a fast big road after so long in the sticks! We head into the town of Cobh to park up where we can make the most of the camper van services and also get a train into Cork! First stop in Cobh is into the heritage centre where we learn more about the waves of emigration from Cobh throughout history, we also learn more about the tragedy of Titantic; Cobh was the last place that the Titantic set sail from before the disaster occurred. That evening, Iz cooks up a cauliflower curry and washes her hair in the sink vanlife style!
The next day you join us running for a train, and we confirm that Iz is addicted to being in a rush, as she decides to make one more cup of tea before making the train, and doesn't even drink it! We arrive into Cork and first stop is to visit the English Market, one of the top attractions in Cork, where traders sell organic and locally produced food, in an 18th century covered market. We then walk over to Saint Finbarr's Cathedral, who is the patron saint of Cork! We then head onto Izz cafe, partly due to it being Iz's name and also because it was rated really highly in online reviews. We find out the cafe is Palestinian and try out a couple of yum dishes from the menu! All re-fuelled, we head on to the Shandon, the historic quarter, and find the tower of St. Anne's church, which is known as the four faced liar, as each face of the clock tells a different time! We then find the cathedral of St. Mary and St. Anne, which is one of Cork's iconic buildings. We find ourselves a bit lost as to what to do in a city and head back to our van and drive on along the south coast. We have a couple of days without filming and join you again as we are driving along to Mahon falls. We take a steep climb up to the top of the falls and feel the power of the water crashing down. Tom has been feeling wiped out and ill all week so he takes a covid test but thankfully it's negative! Next stop is to a nearby beach called Bunmahon where we get treated to some evening sunshine.
We wake the next day to glorious sunshine so we head to Dungarven to the Green Way where we rent bikes from O'Mahony Cycles for 15 euros each for the day. Iz thinks she will thrash Tom and they get their cycling legs going after almost a year since their last cycle ride! We absolutely love cycling again and we want to do more of it! We cycle from Dungarvan to Kilmacthomas and enjoy a cider and some chips in the sunshine. On the way back we tell you about our future plans and what's next for our adventures!
We upload every Sunday at 5pm GMT so hope to see ya there!
