I'm a business owner & I have never Been real BIG on social media. I was too busy building my company wen I was younger and now that im not a twenty something I'm not interested in other people's lives because mine is in full swing. I just don't have time for it as my company keeps me plenty busy focusing on a million other things. I'd probably engage in social media if my life allowed it. I tried it for a few years & quickly figured out, social media isn't for most business owners. In fact, social media isn't a place for successful people at all. They don't like successful people there. Seems to me mediocrity reigns king on Social media. (In my opinion)
I can totally relate with the feeling less busy. I notice it too. Sometimes we are so "busy" from consuming so much information daily. It causes unnecessary anxiety. I never understood why until now that you've mentioned it. When you stop consuming social media info, your mind actually does feel lighter and less "busy". Almost like a heavy weight has been lifted off your shoulders.
Hi Reagan. Thanks for your work. I found you just this week through Nate Pickowicz, who I found just last week (he mentioned you in his video). I am in the Philippines and follower of Christ. I listened to a few of your podcast already in a span of a few days and I find my heart resonating with your heart to live well for the glory of God in this short life we have. So thanks.
Great video! Love hearing about social media from a Christian perspective. Definitely can relate to what you went through personally leaving social media. I made that decision couple years ago and never regret it. I rather live under a rock than controlled by the monster social media. I mainly watch RU-vid and listen to podcasts, I tailored it to be more Christian content and things that can help me in real life. I definitely know what you mean that you feel less busy, it frees your mind from so much clutter.
So glad to hear it. I'm right there with you. RU-vid can pull me down the rabbit hole too if I'm not careful, but it's much easier to manage than social media and I find the content is often much more valuable.
I wish there was an option in YT to turn off the shorts videos. YT itself isn’t too bad, but I find the shorts are a big distraction and time waster. Maybe I just need to exercise more self control! 😂
@@ctrych6794 Opal is a solid content/app blocker. Worth the subscription for me. You can put in hard line limits that you cannot unlock or edit. I have found having YT/FB blocked on my phone to be a huge boost to my life. I work on the computer and have youtube on there but have the browser extension that limits recommended videos/shorts/etc. Browser extension is called unhook.
I don't consider RU-vid social media because I have learned so much on here. I use RU-vid to watch History Channel documentaries & lots of educational stuff that interest me. I even listen to some of the licensed therapist channels to learn more about myself (FREE)! I've never learned anything from Facebook, Tik Tok or Twitter except the definition of what an IDIOT was & what a bunch of them on a screen looks like. Just being honest👍
