I think it's even worse when you know that a miscarriage can happen because of something as simple as the fetus having the wrong blood-type compared to the mother. Neither of them seems to know anything about pregnancy and the many, many reasons a fetus can be lost, no matter how far into the pregnancy it is. It's not OP's fault, it's not necessarily OP's body's fault and it's so gross and scummy to word it like it was an active choice in any way. Fuck that entire family

Hey guys, interesting fact: if a man’s sperm is defective, that could cause a miscarriage. This is literally why, Henry the eighth’s later children died at such a rate. So, no, miscarriage is not only never a woman’s fault, if we’re talking about factors that cause a miscarriage, sperm quality is one of them.

31 weeks isn’t even considered a miscarriage. It’s a stillbirth. OP2 had a still born child. Miscarriage isn’t easy no matter when it happens but to carry a child that long in your womb just to lose it 2 months before your due date was my nightmare. She deserves so much better. And for SIL to take her nursery for her own baby is downright evil. I don’t think many of us would have handled it any differently. The husband, SIL and their family in attendance are all terrible and OP is better off without all of them in her life if they thought that she was the one in the wrong. Good riddance to bad company

@alyssahayes4648
@alyssahayes4648 11 месяцев назад
Agreed. It is stillbirth, and OP shouldn't have to go through that. No woman should. It's very painful to lose a child so close to the due date. I think OP's husband should've been more on her side rather than take the pregnant SIL's side and tell her off for being so insensitive. But nope, he sided with the SIL and insulted his own wife, blamed her for losing the child and destroyed her belongings. OP and her mother did the right thing by making plans to sue the husband as well OP divorcing him. I would've liked to hear how he would take the idea of divorce. OP should also file for a restraining order too. He shouldn't have done what he did and channeled his anger into something else, not destroy OP's things when she asked him to leave her house. If it was me, however, I would've threatened to call the police on him for putting his hands on me after knocking him off of me long enough to reach a phone, locked myself in a room, barricade the door with heavy objects, then call the cops. That man needs help. Badly. And the husband's family should've been more sympathetic to OP and support her when she's at her weakest. And also reign the SIL in and tell her how dumb she is to insult a woman who is having trouble carrying a baby to term. OP: 0/5 NTBH. The husband, SIL and in-laws: 5/5 BH's. Personally, I would've gone for 10/5 BH's for OP's soon-to-be ex-husband, SIL and in-laws, but I'm gonna stick with Rslash's BH scores 🙂

I completely understand. I lost my son at 28 weeks, almost 29 gestation and gave birth to him, sleeping. It was the roughest ride I had ever been through in my life and I've walked away from severely abusive and traumatic relationships in the past before then. 3 years later and that pain is still there. I still go on day to day because I have too, I NEED too otherwise I'll just let my depression take over and consume me for the rest of my life and I just can't do that. To top it off, my ex fiance and I were not meant to be together after that as his alcoholism took full effect and i was always there for him. The first mothers day that came after that experience he texted me a long message telling me " F*** you, YOU should have died that day not our son!" And i was at work when he sent me that message. At that moment i was just completely broken. For OP to have her mother's help especially FINALLY someone at her side at the end to give her that gentle nudge is so very enlightening and much easier to deal with. I hope she destroys him in court and gets a restraining order on that entire family. OP is a Goddess. She is a magnificent, strong woman. I hope she stands tall sooner than later and finds that peace in her life. 💐

That is what I thought too... I wish OP had used the correct term because while both are absolutely terrible stillbirth is worse in my opinion... She didn't just bleed and cramp from the loss she had to deliver her dead baby... Which is the worst thing I personally think a woman can go through... Both have a devastating emotional loss of a child but to then have to be in a room meant for happiness just to have your baby taken from you forever... I'm crying just thinking about how awful that must be...

Just to play Devil’s Advocate for a minute with the first story, the rules surrounding Date Rape are constantly changing. It used to be that deliberately getting a girl drunk enough to pass out or slipping a tranquilizer into her drink and then having sex with her while she was unconscious and unable to consent was the definition of Date Tape. Nowadays if a woman gets drunk enough to initiate sex with you when she wouldn’t give you the time of day while she was sober, and you accept her invitation, then the morning after she can legally accuse you of rape and it will hold up in court. So Terri could have, in a way, told the truth (that they went to a party, got drunk, and had sex) which her family interpreted as having date raped her, and she just didn’t correct them. Is it right? Heck no. I’m just saying that it’s possible.

And then came the fact that the SIL wanted to take OP's nursery, called OP selfish when she refused, and the husband is on SIL's side? And then the husband proceeds to commit destruction of property? Well, she didn't tell her daughter that OP was the abuser, she told her that she was abused and the daughter found him on her own. There is still a chance that she was telling the truth (that she was abused a month later and that the doctors made her believe that she was pregnant from that abuser), and if this is true, maybe she never tried to find out who the father was. So maybe when her daughter told her she found OP, the "abuser", she realised that her daughter wasn't the produce of abuse and that she was wrong. Apparently this is the 'pregnant people make terrible decisions and hurt people' episode. First story, good God Terry is a total piece of shit. She made her unplanned daughter *hate* OP for so long and didn't say a thing to OP and didn't let him say his piece until the very end. Second story, OP didn't shouldn't have even given her soon-to-be EX a choice. Throw him out with her SIL, they're both complete and total garbage, both of them deserve to be in the dumpster, and also call CPS or some other group so they can take the baby away because there's no way that poor baby deserves her as a mother.

So many situations can be resolved when you start by taking responsibility, but when you can't even do that? Then its pretty much hopeless no matter how minor a situation is, let alone if one is major like the story. I just...gah!! Rslash hit the nail on the head with the last story. That’s exactly what’s happening . That was his way of grieving too. That’s why he didn’t care his sister was being toxic . In his mind , She was going to give him a child . That’s why he was so Ok with the baby going in his child’s nursery . That’s why when op called him out he said something that horrible . He blames op for the miscarriage and now op is ruining his second chance to have a child . That’s why he got so violent and explosive . He held back all his pain from the miscarriage and op slapping him solidified that his chance at the “perfect” happy family , was over . That’s also why at no point does op say he was always this aggressive , or lazy , or toxic , or mean , he didn’t become like this until the miscarriage . What happened to Op and the husband was tragic. However rather than truly grieve he latched onto his sister and her baby and used them to replace the child he lost. The sister on the other hand is a trashy toxic POS . She’s living rent free in the house of someone and all they ask is that you follow their rules . Then she knowing decides to try and take over the nursery of OP’s lost child . That’s disgusting and selfish . Pregnancy brain can mess with a woman sure , however what it also does is it amplifies traits that were already there . She wasn’t toxic because she was pregnant , she was toxic and being pregnant made it worse I feel so bad for op. To go through the grieving alone , then to suffer through the stress of this crap the entire time . Only to have someone fundamentally disrespect her loss , and then have the person who should’ve been her partner in all this reveal he blames her for everything . That’s just disgusting

The second story hit me in the feels, hard. This woman is not only grieving over her lost child due to a miscarriage, but the chemical change after the miscarriage as well. Plus a house that no matter how much she cleans, it gwts messier. AND she has to deal with working, and her OWN chores. Now shes cleaning up after 1or2 other people than herself, the SIL and ex Husband. AND shes dealing with people belittling her NORMAL reaction to stress. AND shes TWICE as stressed as a person who works and does all the chores, because shes not only grieving the miscarriage, BUT ALSO handling all this BS AND the gaslighting that she shouldnt feel how she does and the downplaying of her emotions. And they had the AUDACITY to say "well its not OUR fault your body couldnt produce a baby" (paraphraseing cuz memory). The audacity for someone to say that, means they dont see JUST how bug a deal doing ALL the chores PLUS clean after a FULLY GROWN ADULT WOMAN who, yes, is pregnant, but cleary stopped trying to cleanup after herself and give OP more work and stress. Story 2: That was super creepy how the husband just thought it was okay to have the sister-in-law stay at the wife's house for forever. He and the SIL talked and decided to have the baby room for her kid meaning she was planning on staying forever. I think the husband thought the SIL and her kid would be his new family as his wife would be the annoying third roommate. Once he realized that wasn't going to happen he tried to backtrack and pretend he wasn't on his SIL side until the wife kicked him out. Then when his plan didn't work he blew up seeing that he lost everything. I don't know maybe in his head his mind replaced OP with SIL to help with grief so that was why he was on her side and pretty much acted like his wife wasn't his wife. When his wife kicked him out his mind finally connected back to reality and the anger he pushed down came back up, but this was terrifying. This might be how he is and he was just able to hold it back. Maybe her having this kid was his plan to trap her so he could be like this towards her. Glad she was able to get away from him. I think SIL saw OP loosing a kid as a way in. She knew they would be grieving and apparently has been talking with the husband behind OPs back. I think she thought she could manipulate them both using their grief and her baby. It worked on the husband but not OP.

Story one actually have a similar story. My mother is a genealogist so she insisted that I do both 23 and me and ancestry just so that she could confirm and compare the two sites. I agreed because I found that interesting. About a year or two after I took the test I got somebody contacting both me and my father who had taken the test saying that according to the DNA test we were about as related as cousins. She was trying to find out anything about her family because she was given up for adoption as a baby. She had found her mother but unfortunately her mother had already passed away from cancer by the time she had found out about her. She said that according to her grandparents on her mother's side that the mother had gotten pregnant in college, kept the baby and gave it up for adoption. We knew what part of the family had gone to college in that area so we started contacting them. The first cousin we asked if he could have possibly fathered a child in so and so year at college left hysterically and unequivocally said no. We didn't pry because we don't have too much communication with this part of the family, so we don't know if he's gay or if he was a virgin at the time or what the story was. But when we contacted his brother who was overseas and asked the same question, he paused , a long hard pause. He said it was possible... So we suggested he take the ancestry DNA test which is how she came into contact with us. Sure enough he took it and it confirmed that he was indeed the father. He was over the moon. He already had a family and children but now he had his first grandchild and a daughter he had never known about so he was ecstatic and his family was very accepting of her. These DNA kits are a huge blessing to children that have been lied to or hidden away. Truly, the progress of human medical science in the past hundred years has been unbelievable.

It was so bad she couldn't have children, she never was able to find someone to fall in love with after and has lived her whole life in fear and pain. Hearing this person lie about such a horrible situation pissed me off. Yes her life would have been hard raising a child by themselves but she made her child's life a living hell for her own self respect in her parents eyes. My father was a single parent in the 70s, and he tells how hard it way but never made my brother feel an ounce of guilt. He was a ops child but owned up to it and never fed him lies or twisted him against the mother did. This left a super sour taste with me how people can lie about these things to fave their own skin but leave a innocent child with the burden adults have made.

I’ve heard the second one before, and my favorite WTF moment is when the husband turned on his sister and went “it’ll just be a little while” as if he didn’t just insult his wife with misogynistic intent and undermine her in her own home, and then he’s mad and all surprised pikachu face that she looked at him and basically said “uh uh, you too.”

@aod9910 11 месяцев назад
For the second story, it sounds like the husband took the miscarriage really hard and blamed his wife, but bottled up how he felt. Then when his pregnant sister needed help, he may have felt that it could have been a way to regain that experience of having a child. Explaining why he pushed so hard to house his sister and why he would diminish his wife's feelings and grow to resent her. Really sad all around

So in the last story, I’m betting the father of the sister’s kid is not the BF, but actually OP’s husband.

Story 2: OP was grieving. Yes, technically, the nursery is empty and having a child fill it makes sense, but it's not hers to claim without permission while OP was still grieving her own baby's death. She's not ready to take jt down yet, it's still decorated for her baby because it would be too painful to take it away or even go in there right now. Taking it down would be facing the fact that her baby died, and it takes time to process that. Maybe, if the SIL was kinder and as helpful as one can be when pregnant, she could have ASKED if it would be okay to use the nursery when it was closer to her own baby's due date. Having your baby shower close to OP's due date and then showing off HER nursery, which should have had HER newborn, is evil. What an awful sister in law. It's a lot to ask for a mother who recently miscarried (or technically as another commenter pointed out, had a stillbirth) to care for a pregnant person and handle all the joys and excitements of a new baby being given to someone else when you should have had that too... and yet she was willing. OP is so selfless, yet her sister in law trampled all over her and her grief while rubbing her pregnancy right in her face

For the second story, the family should ALSO be ashamed. If my family member did what OP's sister in law did, I would NEVER speak to them again.

As someone who's watched all 1750 episodes, there isn't much that shocks me anymore, but that last one definitely did. I also don't get how no one on the husband's family side took OPs side. I know they know her husband/sister more, but no one saw how disrespectful it is to try and take a woman's nursery that recently miscarried. That whole family is cold.

I was thinking more about story 2, and a horrifying idea came into my mind… Does OP’s husband actually BLAME HER for the miscarriages, and did he do all that (clearly intentional and hurtful) stuff with SIL as some kind of “revenge”?! If so, that puts the entire story into a new and disgusting light. I hope OP bleeds this SOB dry as a mummy in court.

Last story: that isn't him releasing any pain he's bottled up from the miscarriages. He made fun of you for experiencing them, and comforted his sister after you stood up for yourself bc she made fun of your miscarriages. Even if it was from his pain, you don't want to remain married to a man who bottles up his emotions and lets them all out at you.

Story 2: emotional abuse from both the S-I-L and the sack of garbage. Divorce is the only way to go with this one. I am glad to hear OP is getting out of that. I can't even put into words how disgusted I am hearing that people actually think like the SIL and (ex) husband...

Not only do they lie, they get away with it. False rape allegations should be punished as harshly as rape itself, for both can ruin a person's life.

My guess is husband of the seconds story told his sister that they had a totally unused nursery the sister could just use because clearly they werent going to use it (out of spite and anger) and never told his wife that was the plan. So when the wife found out the husband doubled down that the wife was being unreasonable and hateful. Either way. Still divorce territory. Glad she is safe, sad for her pain. The healthy thing to do would be for the husband to have had a private conversation with his wife and show understanding that their nursery being used for another persons baby would be painful, but at least they could have the joy helping to raise their future neice or nephew.

My first question for the second story was "what husband?" OP is right: she just has two of the worst roomates ever. Also, it might not be OP's fault that she can't have children: maybe the husband's sperm is to blame. Anyway, it's r/AITA, so let's grade everyone: -OP and her mother: 0/5 a-holes -Ex-husband, ex-SIL and everyone who sides with them: 5/5 a-holes

Jesus christ, no, glad OP is dumping her quite honestly, cruel and sadistic husband. Blaming his wife, the would-be mother to his children, for an unavoidable incident like that then have the fucking NERVE to dote on his pregnant sister instead of supporting and grieving with his wife?????? WHO JUST LOST THEIR BABY??? I have never been this mad at someone in a story like this since finding your channel, rSlash, oh my god.

Story 2: It sounds to me like the soon to be ex husband blamed OP for the miscarriage, and the only reason this didn't come out sooner was because he saw his sister as a replacement mother to a future child he could father. He seemed to be expecting OP to make up for her "failure" and cater to his sister's every need(including giving her the nursery).

Story 2, i was so shocked of this story, how can a husband don't back up his wife, insult her, tell her she's selfish after all the trauma. And the entitleness of that pregnant witch. This is so messed up, pure sc+m behavior. They deserve BOTH a 5/5 AH score Insta divorce for this unforgivable behavior

I'm mortified by story 2. The audacity of the husband and the sister in law. How insensitive can you be? That is cruel on another level. I wouldn't ever be in OP's shoes as I don't want kids but I can only imagine the suffering. First sister in law abuses OP, sucks her dry for everything, steals OP's would-have-been baby's nursery and claims it's hers, mocks OP all in OP's house. Nah get rid of both of them, don't even give the husband a second chance. As grim as it is, at least OP didn't have a child with him. I hope OP can have a healthy child with someone who treats her well. I've never been so flabbergasted by someone's cruelty and audacity. It's been a long time since I've seen something that low, and I'm used to pretty cruel stuff as an ab*se victim with gaslighting family members.

Story 2: There’s definitely something rather incestuous about how OP’s (soon to be ex) husband was treating his sister’s pregnancy. I’m not saying he’s the actual father, just that it was sick how he and his sister were presenting OP’s child’s nursery as something he and his sister had set up for "their" child. Yuck! And I know you shouldn’t place blame where miscarriages are concerned, but isn’t it just as likely that there is something wrong with the husband’s sperm and that he’s the major contributing factor as to why all three pregnancies failed? Experiencing a miscarriage is awful, but I’d be seriously considering the possibility that OP was just not meant to be tied to this, as it turns out, extremely nasty, hateful man and his obnoxious family. Obviously nobody wants to go through three miscarriages, but this has exposed what a horrible and malicious person her disgusting husband is.
