The problem I have with this story is we have seen multiple stories similar but gender reversed where the argument was that "she" (in those cases) would be paying rent but gaining no equity in the property but everyone seems to be quite happy to bash a guy in the same situation. Not saying either person is right or wrong but having been raised by a single Mum I can see with hindsight a lot of the sacrificed she made for us so I have some sympathy for his situation.
@TawnyRoyal
@TawnyRoyal Год назад
@@davidmccurdy8911 my thing is he would be paying HALF the rent he’s already paying so he’s already saving $700 a month right there. He can use that to put it in a savings account or buy that name brand cereal that he couldn’t buy before. I was raised by a single mom too, I’m the youngest out of 4, all half siblings that she treated like her own. She would coupon clip and meal prep for us so we wouldn’t have to go out for dinner and she was also working 2-3 jobs. And even if the roles were reversed, I’d still feel the same way. You’re bringing in 3 more mouths to feed and house and they don’t expect to contribute anything except going HALF on groceries?! Even then that compromise should’ve been buying ALL the groceries.
@Thundarr100
@Thundarr100 Год назад
@@davidmccurdy8911That’s a fair point. Personally, considering the fact that the monthly mortgage payments on the house were $1000, I think it would have been fair to ask for $500 a month rent + half of all the utilities, internet, etc. I’m not sure how much those other costs would add up to, but he’d still be paying less rent than he did at his previous apartment. Anyway, that would have been my solution for if OP wanted to try and save the relationship. It’s a good compromise. Sadly, I think the boyfriend was probably too stupid to realize that and just screw things up for himself anyway.

disagree on the 2nd story. expecting your partner to pay 70% of your mortgage and expecting him to buy his own groceries and also expecting 50% on everything seems outlandish to me when you put it all together. He's the butthole for expecting to live there entirely for free, i agree w/ everyone on that. Where I disagree is expecting him to pay the majority of your own mortgage, the entirety of his own groceries, and expecting him to split 50/50 on everything else all put together. If you truly love your partner, you should either offer 50/50 on everything, or you should offer to be paying the majority of stuff like mortgage and be okay with splitting the bill on groceries, ESPECIALLY if you're making 4x what your partner makes. Ik if I were in OPs situation, i'd offer to pay 60 or 70% of my own mortgage since, well. Its my mortgage. Ik if i were in the bf's shoes, I wouldnt pay 70% of HER mortgage when my living situation hinges on the destiny of the relationship. It sucks that OP was undervalued by her ex friend group. At least her husband and his family have OP's back. Also, Jenny's husband was the biggest AH. I disagree w/ the majority on story 2: expecting your partner to pay 70% of your mortgage and expecting him to buy his own groceries and also expecting 50% on everything seems outlandish to me when you put it all together. Years ago I had a similar experience to the woman who was expected to babysit while her friends went out and had fun. My ex friend Traci (real name) asked me if I could watch her kids (2 girls, 3 & 5 ) for the evening on Valentines day. I said of course, because I had no plans, and she was going out with the new guy she was dating after she fled her physically abusive marriage. I get their and low and behold, it's everyone from that friend group heading out to drink and dance the evening away. I. Was. Pissed. I pulled her aside and said that I had to leave at 11pm. She said I should have told her earlier that I couldn't stay till she wanted to come home. I replied that she was right, I should have told her at the same time she told me that this wasn't a date night, but a night where everyone, save me, was going clubbing. The youngest cried almost constantly for mum, as much as both her sister and I tried to comfort her. She wasn't used to mum going out unless one of her grandmothers was there. It took me decades to see how lopsided our relationship was. When the man who was to become my husband met her, she commented that he must be a good influence on me because my place was usually a pig-sty (not true, it was cluttered, never dirty. Actually pigs are quite clean as far as animals go.) After she left, he reminded me of that old adage, With Friends Like That, Who Needs Enemies. The last straw for me came when I was moving over 2000 klicks away and she was a no show at 2 one to one get togethers to say goodbye. When I brought up how inappropriate it was to not show, and not call, she called me unreasonable. Yah, no more. I deserve better than that kind of "friend". I wonder if he uses any kind of corticosteroid nasal spray for his allergy" and wouldn't you know! Steroids, whether topical or nasal, is known to thin out the skin/membrane it's applied to. Therefore it's recommended to apply it as instructed to lessen the risk of getting bleeds, while also applying some kind of rehydration to the skin/membrane while using the locally applied steroids. For skin, this would be ointment of some kind, while for the nasal membrane would be nasal oil. I am glad this story had a wholesome ending though 🥰

My youngest brother was addicted to it many years ago. Carried a bottle in his pocket constantly, would take a blast like every half hour. And he always complained how stuffed up he was. I came across an article talking about overuse of nasal sprays producing a rebound effect (what he was experiencing) and told him about it. Eventually he quit using it and saw a doctor for his allergies.

Story 1: OH THANK GOD!!! I thought that the husband might be bleeding from his member when used the bathroom and was refusing to go to a doctor. Men tend to see going to the doctor as asking for help and asking for help is seen as being weak, so men will often refuse to go to the doctor until they physically can't avoid it. For example, I have an uncle who had been throwing up almost constantly for almost two weeks and lost almost 100 pounds and it took me and my dad all but kidnapping him and taking him to the hospital. Turned out his liver was failing. He's ok now but still

Frequent nosebleeder here. It is a combination of dry nostrils and weak capillaries. It can happen from nose blowing and even sneezing. It becomes more frequent when the air is too dry, which is why it differs in every household, because of the levels of humidity. And yes, it can happen pretty much every day, and can be messy, which is something I am not very proud of and try to avoid talking about. Once, after I blew my nose, the blood started gushing like a river. No amount of tissue could make it stop, so I put my nose over the sink and let it flow. It took a whole 25 minutes. And afterwards the sink looked like I had killed someone. Still, I didn't have high blood pressure or anything like that whatsoever. Don't worry, OP. Your husband is fine, he just feels awkward of all the mess he had caused. I would actually suggest a moisturizing spray for the nose, it liquefies the secretion and may reduce the nosebleed. But, ultimately, it is something you have to get used to, because I don't believe there is a cure for it that may not permanently damage your husband's nose.

Well dude, halving your current rent would help give you a buffer and maybe get you out of the paycheck to paycheck life.

The rent story is insane. If I had an extremely wealthy girlfriend who let me move myself & my children into her house for only $700 a month? I would do *anything* to keep her. I'd make sure there was always a fresh bouquet of flowers in the house for her, I'd take on the majority of the housework. I'd SPOIL her rotten with every spare penny I have!

Plausible since a concern was not being able to buy name brand cereal. Like some generic brands are just fine and the daughter won't get made fun of for that and some store brands are made by the name brand companies. Besides, cereal is a nicety.

God, the amount of entitled parents who want other people to watch THEIR kids while they go do something fun, then get mad when they’re told no, is absolutely insane. Having kids does *not* give you the right to take away other people’s free time because you don’t want to be a parent.

For me, even if you aren't that close of a friend, I would rather take you because the other friend lied to you and was trying to screw you over while deceiving the group. While I may not become closer to you, I would certainly but looking at cutting a friend out. That friend's burden with her kids could have been an easily handled one of she was honest from the start, so now she had to pay for her actions.

Story 2: I can see an argument that if he makes less, he could pay a smaller share of rent. If my friends are in a tough spot financially I will offer to pay for both our meals. But they are not entitled to that. Same thing, the bf should not EXPECT that someone would make such a generous deal especially for a long term situation.

he's paying for the majority if he accepts OP's terms. 70% of her own mortgage, 100% of his own groceries, as well as 50/50 on everything else. If OP said 50/50 on the mortgage and groceries, then she wouldnt be in the wrong. If I were OP though, making 4x what my partner makes, personally I'd ask them to pay 30-40% of the mortgage and split the groceries. OP is treating her bf more as a tenant than, well, a bf. expecting your partner to pay 70% of your mortgage and expecting him to buy his own groceries and also expecting 50% on everything seems outlandish to me when you put it all together. Its my mortgage.

every story this episode is a different gem, the supporting and loving wife who helps her husband with problems he doesn't understand he has, the girl who realizes she's worth so much more than a man who tries to take advantage of her economy and stops him on his ass, and the girl that realizes she needs better friends but she has a great family, I just love powerful women

Yeah I always charge my girlfriends rent, I'm young, hot and pretty well off, weird that this also happened with a single dad. I kicked out a single mom and her 3 kids after she tried to welch out of paying, even though I was giving her a really great deal considering the area. Oh well onto the next one

Last story: OP's Husband: My wife is feeling down about some drama with her "friends" *puts in effort and makes plans to make her happy and cheer her up* A+ Husbanding Jenny's Husband: Anniversary? Who's anniversary? Know what forget it, Im going camping anyways, wish them the best for me. *leaves* I love it when the villain gets stuck with the jerk and the protagonists gets the dream spouse and happy ending. It so rarely happens in real life, or at least outside of r/prorevenge. Happy it worked out for OP, its mutch easier to make better friends than it is to make a better spouse and family.
