The woman post about "AITA" is just messed up..My parents for the longest time slipt the chores like they did, however after my mom lost her job and got a lot better, she is doing full chores due to my step dad paying the bills..It use to be the other way when he wasn't working when my mom had TWO jobs and was paying the bills, they always made sure things were equal. Smh the lady was in the wrong, like your wife is working all day, why can't you do the chores since your home all day?

My boyfriend makes most of our income and he's working during this pandemic while I'm not. You know what I do? Clean the house, help pay for groceries whenever I can, pay for literally anything when I can, take care of the pets, make him dinner, and ask nothing from him for my birthday since he does so much. That's 50/50 when one person is working and making money.

Well, just had my own Choosing Beggar moment a few hours ago. Some background - I have high functioning Autism, and cannot drive (I keep failing the tests due to stress and the fact I don't like sudden changes - give me more than 5 seconds warning, please!), so I rely on Community Service Aids to drive me around after work (my mother - who should be declared a Saint for putting up with everything related to me - takes me into work on her own way to work) and these Aids take me to anywhere I want to go - store, doctor, gym (if I want to), library (second home practically), horseback-riding place (can't wait for things to get back to normal), dining establishments, home, and anywhere else I wish to go (Hypothetically, if I wanted to go to an Adult Establishment, they would have to take me there, and they'd have to be with me, but there's none of those in my area - so don't have to worry about that!) Now, one thing to note is that the Aids work for me - what I say - within reason - goes, although I prefer that my relationships with my Aids to be more on the level of Friends, and not "Strictly Professional", although of course there are lines to not cross. Anyways, got a new Aid a few months back - my one old Aid had retired after 8 years with me (although he was already of Retirement age to begin with), and the other I had got another job, as did another, so I got a Rookie Aid, who is a few years younger than me, and a woman (nothing wrong there, but sometimes people think that we are a couple, when we are not - she's married to a cop, and has two kids). I'm the sort who likes routine, and while recent events have been difficult - can't go to the library or go horseback riding - we have adjusted. Now, there's a place I like eating at - great wings - and with things the way they are, we phone in, so that I can get a double order of wings and a gluten-free pizza (as my mother has issues) and my Aid gets her own supper. Of course, having all this on my lap is not comfortable for my legs, so we pull over into a nearby parking spot (haven't actually left the plaza yet), and my Aid works at placing the food in the back. To make hings easier, she opens the driver door so that she has more room to maneuver around. This is when this strange woman shows up. She looks like the sort who has had a, shall we say, difficult life, hasn't had a shower, and I don't know her, and neither does my Aid. SW: Excuse me. I need a ride. Can I borrow your phone to get a bus ride? Aid: (Getting over her initial statement) Do you have the number with you? SW: (Gets out a card for a bus company) Yeah. (Looks at the back of the car.) Um, do you think that you could take me home actually? Me: (A few things to note is the fact that my Aid has a child's car seat behind hers, and my stuff, including food, is behind me, so no room. Also, again, neither of us know this woman, and we don't know what all she has.) No, we can't, as she's working. Aid: He's right. I'm working, but I can let you use the phone to call for the bus. (Aid types in the number.) SW: (After talking to the bus company, learning where she has to go - basically a block over - and how long she has to wait, and handing the phone back) Um, could you take me to the bus stop? Aid: I can't take you with me, but the place is just down the street. SW: (Shuffles away.) Aid: (Closes door, gets out wet wipes, cleans off phone, window, and steering wheel.) The only reason I let her use my phone was because I felt that I could outrun her if she tried to steal it. Me: Well, at least you did your good deed for the day - most probably wouldn't have. Aid: She seemed to not believe that I was working. Me: Well, you don't look like a taxi or anything of the sort. Afterwards, we did lay down a few ground rules about whom she could have in the car while I'm also in the car - kids already in car while on their way to a nearby babysitter as she comes to pick me up are okay, and she needs my approval to pick up family/friends who destinations are within the area we travel in, but that might be an easy "Okay" - just no hitchhikers we don't know.

I guess it's always been in my head that if one partner works and the other doesn't, the other pretty much (within reason), takes care of everything at home. Both should contribute, and both should be equally valued. Otherwise, it's not really a partnership, it's like a parent-child relationship.

I can not wrap my head around the logic of the wife wanting to quit her job. My partner and I aren't living together yet, we're working on that, but we've discussed how we'll handle it. Unless I can find a full time job I will most likely be working part time while he works full time. I am more then willing to take on most of the housework if that happens, because I love him and appreciate how hard he's working for us and our future and I want him to come home to a clean house. And in his turn he's willing to do his part and help with cooking meals and such. It's just such an entitled attitude, I hope she comes to her senses because otherwise it might not end well for her relationship.
