Republiqans. They've been actively attacking education for the past 30-40 years, because it teaches people to think for themselves instead of making them ready to manipulate with they're right-wing propaganda.

@@John_Weiss the Democrats are in complete control of the education system and things are still just getting worse, the US government as a whole doesn't want the "common folk" to be educated and know what's going on, because then they'd realize just how shitty the US actually are.

Well over half of the states are in complete control of the Republican party, either all 3 branches of government, or the Legislature and the Judiciary. When state aid gets cut, the school districts suffer. Also? Outside of the urban and suburban areas, the Republican Party has successfully spent the past 40 years filling the school boards with their members. Those boards have been slashing school budgets during those 40 years. And part of the reason _why_ the Republican Party has been going after school budgets is: Union Busting. That's how it started. It's no coincidence that blue states like NY pay their teachers decent salaries, while red-states like Oklahoma pay their teachers salaries so low you can barely live on them. Or in some states, can't live on them at all, which is the case for either Oklahoma or Arkansas. One of them is so bad that teachers who aren't changing careers are actually leaving the state to stay in education.

Well government needs money because we expected the world to pay us after saved them from invasions... however the prices we asked were high and coming off a war is tough mixed with some other factors and you have a world debt that kinda fucks your people if America stayed out of world war 2 and the Allies still won we would likely be slightly better off

@ironfang bigheart No, the idea that you can chose for other people that they aren't going to have sex is irrational. Those people are going to chose to have sex. especially when given faulty information this will mostly likely result in either STD's or pregnancy. That is why abstinence only education is faulty, because you aren't giving people the option to act on all the information to make an informed choice.

They're saying that while someone who is educated on what sex is can choose not to have sex and will be able to avoid consensual intercourse; but that trying to force _other_ people to not have sex by not educating them on what sex is, is not going to work out very well. Specifically in reply to someone that tried to improperly summarize the valid points against abstinence only sex Ed down to saying that pro-sex education people saying that people choosing not to have sex, doesn't work to prevent sex.

I game. It's still not my idea of a date to sit next to my partner on the couch to watch them play video games. I generally do not enjoy this and even when I don't hate it I still don't consider this quality time. At least let me be player 2. But not every game has that option and some people (even if it's just a few, there are way too many) think it's reasonable to ask or even expect their partner to sit next to them and watch them play a single player game, as they level grind (and even worse; get aggressive and/or become cranky because of how the game is going) with repetitive music, and don't engage the non gaming partner in conversation. When I see women online complain about the fact that their partner's idea of a date is the woman watching their partner as the partner games, I can't help but feel bad for them. A date should be something you both enjoy. Watching someone game can be fun as long as the one who games makes it fun for the both parties. Most of these women are talking about experiences where they are simply present and ignored.

Assuming we live in an infinite multiverse and knowing that names he chooses are completely random, by sheer probability, your name has been said already countless times. Hope this helps. Ps. That does not make it impossible to happen in our universe.

it's not just University Studies that is financially supported. College studies is also supported with about 300$ a month, so every swede is entitled to about 3+5= 8 years financially supported education

I had 30k in loans for a *single* year of school, switched to a local college to get my BS but couldn't afford to stay for a masters (and work/school balance never worked out productively). And I had a few textbooks which were about $500 across the years that couldn't be sold back/purchased used. And we're talking 2000-2010 timeframe, worse now with inflation. Reduced cost higher education would be amazing
