Went to High School with Big Rob. He was a Junior, when I came in as a Freshman. He was a cool dude to damn near everybody, and was untouchable. When the Michigan recruiter showed up to see him, he wasn't even where he was supposed to be, he was in the Gym with us. Everybody thought that he was the next one, and he had the tools for it. I have a few stories that I could tell about Rob. R.I.P. big fella, we still hold you in high regard.
One thing that hurt his career was having George "know it all" Karl as his coach. Karl had a Bucks team that could have been special but he managed to mess it up with his overcoaching. Dude messed over Tractor, eventually traded Big Dog for Toni Kukoc, and then turned around and traded a prime Ray Allen.
@@djp2k2 thanks...Bryant reeves balled out in college and his first couple of seasons in the NBA but weight issues and injuries hurt him big time...sad he had a short lived career in the NBA..smh..
@@detroitwhatup253 i know exactly where that is. when i met him at fairlane that one day, he was cool. real down to earth. i was hurt when he passed away. loved him on that michigan squad with mo taylor, louis bullock, and maceo baston
Man..he was a beast for real..even though I'm an Ohio kid?...I give much respect to him..Many blessings to his family and friends..RIP ROBERT TRACTOR TRAYLOR...
Thank you for this episode, man. I have my own issues with food addiction myself, that I’m trying to fight which stem off my lack of patience and charging my phone and using restrooms in restaurants where they pressure you to buy something or they force you out. I don’t have a car, so waiting in bus stations where vending machines are can also be tempting.
@Samuel Wells already experimenting with Veganism, as is. Also, since I’m eating lots of snacks at home before working out, I don’t find myself as hungry when I work out or depleted. Also, I’m buying nuts and fruits left and right to keep my stomach in check, when needed. So when I’m done working out at the gym, I can head to my bus station satiated, and watching videos on my phone instead of buying snacks to keep my hands busy when my phone is on low battery. Also, it sucks how my bus station’s outlets aren’t available due to the pandemic, so that means I have to not use my phone as much as a waiting tool to get me by until the bus comes.
I remember seeing him play in PR at point. Kind of reminded me of Barkley a little bit. Very sad. I remember his passing and it was too soon. He definitely was stunted. May he rest in everlasting peace.
This might be a strange one but I think you should do a stunted growth on Shaq. Dude should have become the best player of all time with at least 6-7 rings
Out of service pervis , a nickname given by danny ainge that is only second to michael jordan calling bill cartwright medical bill. When it comes to dissing someone atleast
Thank you for doing this. I remember seeing Tractor Traylor when he was in he school at an AAU tournament. I think KG was on the team too, but everyone crammed the gym to see Tractor
I worked at the Sears in the Ann Arbor Briarwood Mall in 1995, and I carted a floor model computer and monitor out to him. He was dressed in his gray Michigan sweats, and we loaded the computer into Louis Bullock's car. The largest human being I've ever been in the presence of, by far.
U did a video on Eddie Griffin, a video on Lorenzen Wright (the only player I have a jersey from btw^^), a video on Robert Traylor.. it's very nice to tell their stories as a tribute, much love
Played against him in high school and he was a monster. He went to Murray Wright high school. Nobody in the Detroit PSL could handle him but Maurice Taylor (former NBA player Houston Rockets forward) gave him fits. Rest easy Tractor Traylor aka "Johnson".
Saw him play in high school when Murray Wright won the state championship when he was a junior. Big and strong and ran like a deer!!! Got the whole gym FIRED UP!!!!! Detroit 313. Livernois and Tireman. RIP big fella. You are still loved and greatly missed but never forgotten.
I moved to Detroit in 92 from Maryland, & one way I learned my way around the city was by going to Detroit PSL basketball, & football games. This was before the City lost half of it's High Schools to closure. Man.....not gonna lie. Detroit had some serious talent back then, & no one I enjoyed watching more than Traylor. That PSL championship against Pershing ( his junior year) was ELECTRIC!! Those were great times. Shout out to the PSL league .
I was a preteen/teen during the Fab 5 era and I was so happy to see this! I was a Kentucky fan but I secretly loved the Fab 5. Best era for basketball, like fr
Tractor was a few years behind me. I played at Southeastern and came out in “91.” The school is actually called Murray Wright. They had a PHENOMENAL girls team back when I was high school. But anyway, tractor never really had the correct coaching. Regardless of his height, he was tall enough to play the post. He just didn’t commit himself to getting in shape. At 6’8 he shouldn’t have been over 245LBS. Most post during his era were between 225LBS and 245LBS. Even Shaq was between 240 and 255 he first couple of years. Miss Robert Traylor man, him and Mo Taylor (no relation) were both top of their class.
I always compared Tractor Traylor more to Charles Barkley than to Shaq. If he had a veteran mentor as a young player to push him to get and stay in better shape like Sir Charles had with the late great Moses Malone his career would have been way better. RIP
Me and Rob go way........ Back 😂 we're from same hood and DREW middle school we were in a accelerated class the WHOLE CLASS was TIGHT and NOBODY FUCK with us we was ALL HUGE 😂 he ONLY made A_s and B's he was very smart I had the honor of playing ball with him... We were the tallest in our class for 8 grade we returned to school that June he was Taller than me 👏then we fought each other for 8 th grade 😆
I’m not fir college kids being on payroll but I’m All for these kids getting money from agents as long as there is no point shaving involved. You allow kids to take money from agents that will encourage them to stay in school longer then go to the NBA when they are truly ready
I also believe what did him in was lack of knowledge in terms of nutrition. The internet era wasn't high back then so guys didn't have the information they needed about nutrition and certain foods and vitamins that can help you When comes to health. But Nonetheless, R.I.P Tractor Traylor.
