I mistook a random guy at a Home Depot because he had an orange shirt on he was confused but then realized what was going on and explained he doesn’t actually work there so I apologized and moved on it’s really not that hard so what is wrong with these people
I've asked the same question, which word don't they understand the I the Don't the Work or the Here? Not to mention I've never seen or heard about an employee while in the clock lie and say they don't work there, why would they that's as far from making sense that anything can possibly get. Maybe they believe they are the only person in the store that is a customer and everyone else works their and trying to pretend they don't😅
@@rachel-in-the-208 It's as if you're implying 7 billion human beings behave exactly the same when confronted by a Karen... Anything different from the norm must be fake...
@@rachel-in-the-208 So do you just watch these videos to tell everyone that they are fake? Or do you bypass the video altogether and just go straight to comments to tell everyone its fake? Are you doing some sort of public service for a federal department we aren't aware of?
Ah, but Opie had a _friendly conversation_ with the employee. To those beneath her, Karen only gives orders. The only other modes of communication she has are one-upping her peers and sucking up to her superiors. Yes, that is exactly as crude as it sounds, but that seems to be the level of emotional and social maturity Karens are at.
Only time I ever whistled, or snapped my fingers to get an employee's attention was when I was not well and unable to speak. I was trying to find cough medicine and cough drops to help my sore throat. Fortunately, the guy was very understanding when he realized I was struggling to talk and I wrote my question on a note pad. Medicine and rest, I got better. But seriously, unless you're sick, or otherwise can't speak, there's no excuse for that kind of behavior.
Story 3: Man, they inflated Karen's ego before stabbing it with a police badge. The funny thing is that all of this could be avoided if she didn't stubbornly stick to the idea that OP worked there and the others were covering for them.
I am Linda Blair level demonically evil if Ciaran got *●ME●* in trouble like that. The least thing I could do is QUIT. RIGHT. THERE. And had *THEM* deal with the whorebag of an abortion that should have been. The worst thing I could do? BOMB HIS HOUSE.
The fact that she even admits to acting like she did in a fit of rage should make anger management classes mandatory for offenders in situations like this.
It's even funnier because why does she even care that much? If they WERE an employee why does it bother them so much? Maybe they were on break and wanted to help a little before sitting down again for example. Why does OP HAVE to be the one to help her when she already had someone there to serve her? Also just about everywhere has cameras these days, why did she think she could literally just make up assault charges like that?
The last time a Karen snapped her fingers at me I smiled and asked what she needed, because I'm an asshole who can play pretend. She demanded I get something off the top shelf so I pushed it all the way to the back and walked off
I hate that the manager in story 3 asked that they "act more professionally because they reflect the restaurant". First of all, once I'm clocked out, I don't work there until my next shift. Unless they are getting paid to be "professional" outside of work hours, OP can do what they want and if that means telling off a Karen that is harassing them and their friends, so be it. I'm sick and tired of this idea that you have to be "professional" outside of work hours, especially when you're in the privacy of your own home or just hanging out with friends. As long as crimes aren't being committed, people can spend their free time how they want.
Even when during work hours, if I'm on my break, you have no right to my time. Especially if I'm not even at the place I work at. I wouldn't expect a host or hostess to be "acting professionally" on their break at the nearby McDonald's.
To be fair, the poster was clearly still wearing the uniform. That sadly does mean their acts do reflect on the store, because people would immediately know where they work, and cause shit there.
@@GSSAGE7 Not really, since the manager made it clear that the woman would be banned so she could never go there and cause shit because the OP would recognize her. Plus the manager had no idea if the OP was even still wearing their uniform so it still stands. Kombucha girl got fired from the bank job she had because she made a harmless TikTok that other people edited. She was trying kombucha for the first time, and didn’t do anything wrong, and yet they had a problem with her because she “represented the bank” even though she made the TikTok at home and wasn’t even wearing the uniform for her bank. It’s wrong to hold employees to standards they aren’t getting paid to uphold while they are not at work. Period.
Third story: The lady should have also gotten charges for lying to officers, she literally tried to screw over an innocent person so hard here that it's not funny
Said person should be allowed to hit her for all the harassment she spewed, she could have gotten someone in major trouble if they didn’t have cameras.
Okay, people, here's the thing. If you are not in a private residence, it is safe to assume you are being recorded at all times. If not a business's CCTV, then random people recording video on their phones. If you act up, and anybody else is around, they WILL whip those phones out and record you.
used to be if you collapse in street you woke up to a circle of concerned faces nowdays you wake up to a circl of cell phones with people showing concern that their insta-face-twit-tube feed is ending
The thing is, out of the 3 retail jobs I've worked, only 1 actually had security cameras, so I'm never sure when I go into an establishment if that's something I can rely on.
Story 2 - my mother snapped her fingers at us when I was a kid. Then she ended up working at a snack bar where I worked - and began complaining about this guy who would come in, snapping his fingers at us, no matter how busy we were! She never got that she did the same thing!
At the store I work at for now as an assistant manager, we have bells up front a customer is supposed to ring when we're busy stocking stuff. I usually get people to yell hello or something but this one person, fucking whistled like I was a damn dog and that really pissed me off worse than the finger snapping
@@Tabbimura Well the people in the videos consent when they enter the store, that's the whole point of the "You're on camera" posters. And even then, you can always blur out the faces
Story 2: Snapping fingers is pretty rude, so Karen deserved a reprimand for not only doing that, but then proceeding to harass the employee that helped her only once.
Really I use the snap on people to redirect, especially when they're not acting logically idk what it is but if you snap loud enough once it breaks their overly focused rage.
😆😆 and now I remember my math teacher who always said the same - when my class was too stupid to get what she had explained more than three times already. Now I get how wonderful it fit.
The real MVP in story 3 was OPs boss for sending him home to relax and clear his thoughts so he can come back better for tomorrow's shift. That's a goddamn SuperManager right there.
Snapping fingers, whistling, clapping, to get an employee's attention is pretty common when you work either retail or food services. I worked both and cant count the number of times it happened to me. Though I usually ignore it until whoever wanted my attention actually spoke up because I dont respond to whistles and snapping fingers. I'm not a fucking dog.
As a retail worker for 7 years, there are a handful of things that make me instantly irritated: snapping fingers, cussing at me/ a coworker, talking on the phone while being rung up, and general rudeness or impatience. Basically, just don't be a jerk and I'll be happy to help you as much as I can.
I work retail and totally agree with you. The one that bothers me the most is the talking on the phone while being rung up. It's just utterly annoying when you have to ask them the same question or tell them something three times because they are not paying attention to you. Sometimes I just want to yell at them "Hang the effing phone up and listen to me" or want to rip the phone out of their hand and fling it. It's very hard to stay in control sometimes. I always say cell phones are a great invention, but they make some people awfully rude.
I'd bet some serious money Hero Girl had been on the bad side of a Karen's demands at some point, and had thought of ALL the responses she wanted to use (if she didn't have to care about keeping a job) and had them ready to roll as soon as MK started his nonsense. That was pretty funny.
My husband used to snap his fingers when he wanted me to do something. I told him he could stop that stupidity or I would cut his fingers off and flush them down the commode! He got the message fast!
Too bad that spitting one didn't happen recently. Far as I know, spitting on somebody whether accidental or not, even on property, was classified as terrorism at some point in either 2020 or 2021. Still is, but I'm not sure.
I will never understand how people from the US keep thinking their laws are universal when they don't even get their shit together enough to have uniform laws in their own country...
About 22 years ago, when I worked retail (I don’t anymore), I had a “gentleman” that was from a different country snap his fingers at me and tell me “be quick about it” when I went to check in the back for an item for him. His business companion quietly told him “no, no. We don’t treat women that way here.” The guy replied that I was “the help and that’s how they’re treated”. My manager nearly caused some mayhem because she heard him. No apologies, but the business companion said that they were leaving instead of buying anything. Both my manager and I were fuming.
I really wish that this is a place where the help eats the rich. I used to work in a bakery and had a "gentleman" and his 11 yr-old daughter come in for her birthday cake. She had to carry out the cake; when she asked him for help, he snapped his fingers at my coworker and me to help her. If it wasn't for the birthday girl, I really wanted a smash cake just for his face.
LOL Story 3, "she flipped me off(which is a sign of affection)", I'm a military vet and that is THE MOST vet thing a civilian can say, we do that too. Want to show love to a fellow vet, flip them off LOL.
Ciaran (Scottish Gaelic spelling) or Ciarán (Irish spelling) is a traditional male name that means "little dark one" or "little dark-haired one". It’s pronounced the same way you would say Kieran. Gaelic names can be difficult to pronounce if you don’t speak it or if it’s unusual for someone to have a Gaelic name, eg Caoimhe is pronounced Kee-va, Aodh is pronounced Ay like in day.
Karen : Snaps finger @ employee. Random person : Does it back @ Karen. Karen : OMG HE ASSAULTED ME! HELP! HELP! Random person : You did it first Karen. It was self defence. EDIT : Whenever pointed/jabbed me right in my body with a finger, that finger often suddenly bent in unnatural and painfull ways. Often followed up by a knee in the privates or a hard punch just under the ribs for self defence.
Story 2, go op!! You rock, she deserved to have a taste of her own medicine Last story, I love it when Karens are all smug til their proved wrong and don't get their and/ or in trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if the Karen tried to go to op's store to get him fired but instead gets kicked out.
a karen was shouting at a cashier about 17yo the manager came up and shouted at her YOU NEVER TALK TO MEMBERS OF MY STAFF LIKE THAT YOU ARE BANNED FROM THIS STORE FOR LIFE, LEAVE NOW. karen is shock said what about the customer is always right manager said your banned your not a customer leave now or leave in police car i said to cashier you have the best manager in retail she smiled and said thats my Dad i peed myself laffing
Second story setup: Melody: "Hit The Road, Jack", snap your fingers to the rhythm and sing: " Hit the road , Karen, don't return to this store no more, no more, no more, no more, hit the road Karen, don't bother employees no more . . ."
As for Karens arguing accusing non-employees of lying when they tell them they don't work there. Some people, and Karens seem to be especially prone to this, simply cannot deal with the concept that they made a mistake. These are the people who, in a tech support context, will swear that it's the computer, not them, that forgot their password.
Omg I HATE people who snap their fingers at employees! It happened to me all the time when I worked in a bakery in a large big box store. The table where I decorated cakes was set a bit far back from the counter where customers stand. A lot of them would snap their fingers at me and yell "HELLOOOOO!" Then there were the whistlers. They would whistle to get my attention the same way you'd whistle at a dog to get it to come to you. I am NOT your dog, I'm not answering your whistle.
Over on this side of the world, calling out "SHOP" with a raised voice (not shouting) while you're waiting at the counter seems to be at least acceptable, if not amusing.
I hate that OP 3's manager told them to "act a bit more professionally" in dealing with the Karen. That's basically the workplace equivalent of "be the bigger person" if you ask me, and it reminds me that employees should be protected from retaliation if they stand up for themselves when being harassed.
For me, my berserk button is being interrupted. Most people I'll give the benefit of the doubt, but do that more than twice and I'm gonna start to rage. It's hard enough for me to speak, being an introvert, and interrupting me isn't helping my case.
I just had an "I don't work here" story. I went to a blue/white thrift store and as I was meandering through the aisles I had a lady run her cart in front of me and asked about something. I must have given her a quizzical look because she asks 'you don't know?'....I said 'no, I don't work here.' I then pointed to an employee with a trolley behind her, and said maybe they can help you, turned around and walked away. I should note I wasn't wearing a vest, didn't have a name tag, and I had a shopping cart of my own.
LOL! i worked at a hospital as a clerk in the xray dept. one day i'm filing (it was a long time ago) and a patient whistles and snaps his fingers at me. i run like looney and i barked at him.
Anyone, I mean ANYONE, who has invaded someone else's space deliberately, should be warned that they might be hitchhiking to HELL if they don't back off.
Verbal and physical harassment charges makes sense (for spitting tea and stuff), but they also could’ve included filing a false police report since Karen lied to the cops and said OP comitted crimes that didn’t actually happen.
I've been asked several times for help in stores here in Finland, and never ever has that person started to complain when I was kot an employee. All of them just apologize and move on. What is wrong with these people 🤔
Even if an person DID work at a business, have these Karen's NEVER heard of the concepts of breaks? Legally, they can't serves someone while on break. It's not uncommon for employees to take their break on premises, smh
I’m curious has anyone who actually DOES work somewhere say that they don’t? Because the amount of times people refuse to believe when someone says “I don’t work here” is astounding.
First story with HG - that young lady was amazing. Well deserving of a round of applause! Wouldn’t be surprised if she’s running the country soon (tho’ she probably has far too much honesty!). Bravo HG, you are amazing and a great example for younger ladies to emulate!
Finger snapping is only OK if you're in a production of West Side Story and playing one of the sharks or the Jets. And Dogbert Clue for the Clueless: Never EVER ask someone "Do you think I"m that stupid?" This question always answers itself, and the answer is always YES.
Store cameras more than pay for themselves. It takes 1-2 days for a bruise to turn purple. Before that, the skin is a red color. It only turns purple as the blood loses its oxygen content, and that takes time. If someone with a bruise claims that they were recently attacked, they are lying.
This is the best r/IDon'tWorkHereLady that I have read/listened to, and I have listened to a lot of them. Two unKarens trying to get each other to do their job! ROFLOL!!!
My husband goes to the same gas station every morning and gets his coffee before work. He refills the sugars, creamer and will even start another pot if they are busy. Ppl and their entitlement., If I say I don't work here just walk away simple as that. I've mistaken ppl for employees we laugh and go on our separate ways..good grief ppl are just ughh
I have only snapped my fingers at an employee once. I just had throat surgery, and I was in a restaurant where I was seated at the far end of the non-smoking section. The server for the section brought my tea and meal and promptly disappeared. I was ready to pay but no sign of the server, this place you paid your server, and no one else to call for assistance. So, I snapped my fingers, twice lightly. No response, so I snapped a little harder the second time, still no response so I snapped, four times, even harder the third time, that FINALLY brought her over. They all had left for a ciggy break and told NO one, they were out for over 30 minutes! I was beyond pissed, everyone else was, too. I've never had to snap at anyone before or since.
Last/Titular story: Somehow I wish it had come out that when she whined that it wasn't her order that OP would have managed "No, because that's my order, that I ordered ahead of you", then her being made to wait (or booted out) while they replaced the drink she threw out. I HATE that she got her order made before replacing the one she trashed. But this DOES make a better story, LOL!
The finger-snapping thing. Good grief! What is WRONG with people who do that? On the rare occasion that my husband and I go out ro eat (I'm disabled, so even leaving the house is a whole thing), if I EVER see someone snap their fingers at a server, it's going to take more than my 6'7", 400# biker husband, plus loads of duct tape to gage me, to hold me back!
If that Karen told me to get behind the counter, and make her order, I would tell her, the only order I can make you, is a cup of piss, I don't work here, I was just helping my friends with the sugar.
