The "you should stay as still as a corpse" comes from a very good and empowering novel/comic set in a medieval fantasy world. It's about a woman lived in an abusive household and eventually married a non abusive but short tempered and powerful man . between the Female lead's timidity and ptsd from her abuse and the male lead's roughness and insensitivity in which he forged from the noble societies ridicule. They both hurt each other at first but eventually came to understand and learn new strengths from other other. The Female lead slowly heals from her trauma from the love and kindness of the Male Lead and becomes a strong Duchess, and the Male Lead learns to treat her with more sensitivity and understanding. I loved this novel as both leads were flawed and suffered in an incredibly unforgiving society and found ways to support each other despite their differences.

It's great getting an outsider opinion on "Slut-fire". (The orange alien hitting on the redhead at the beach.) What made that comic worse was that the female character had not been written like that in previous comics, or kids cartoons. A character that has been around since the 80's and written like a real person for decades was suddenly published like that.

It’s very nice and is about a girl that was bullied hard in her family and ended up in an arranged marriage with a pretty nice guy that actually loves her (though they do have a bit of train wreck of relationship that can be dealt with a normal conversation, but they don’t have it because female lead is super insecure and thinks that she will be thrown out if she’s not useful, etc. while male lead only thinks about spoiling her because he thinks she’s a typical stuck up aristocrat and is overbearing with his protection)

I just had an epiphany today and I need to share it somewhere relevant so here goes . The expression “for the first time Male character A saw female character B as a woman” has always puzzled me and I couldn’t quite put my finger on why and I realized today that it was because it’s always used in a context of romantic/sexual interest. I’ve never seen it used to mean that the male character is only now noticing the other character is female or even that he’s having an epiphany about the meaning of genders. It’s only ever used to mean “for the first time A saw B as a romantic/sexual interest”. And I guess that’s my issue with it, whether it’s written by a man or a woman, that sentence ends up saying that woman =romance or sex and nothing more. I can’t remember having encountered the reverse (female A, male B) but the problem would be the same. Reading or hearing that 100 or 1000 before you’re even an adult, you’re kinda stuck with that idea the the opposite gender is only there for romance or sex and has no value beyond that. (And I’m not even getting into how it dismisses just about everything LGBT+!) * phew * that was a long one! 😅
