@@kingofnuggets7304 So, since parrots repeat things, this bird has obviously been hearing "Come here, I'm not gonna hurt you" repeated over and over. Some people think the bird heard that a conversation between two people (an abusive person pretending they're not about to hit their kid, etc). My take is that this is a rescue parrot, it had previously been in a home where it was mistreated or neglected. The people in the video are the current owners and probably have been trying to comfort him. So what he's been hearing the most is "I won't hurt you" from people who are trying to help. Again, that's just my opinion on the situation.

Fun fact: Although sounding cliche in nature, Parrots have been used to solve crimes due to their nature of repeating sounds and voices, as they’re perfect for re-enacting the crime scenes they were present for! A parrot named Echo was in fact used to prove a mafia boss guilty in a court case in New Orleans, Louisiana, after Echo witnessed the crime as well as the mafia boss wouldn’t stop talking about his crime behind closed doors. Echo was not only used to show evidence of the crime, but was also put in to witness protection where Echo’s rehabber would claim that Echo would continue to reenact multiple disturbing crime scenes while staying at the bird sanctuary. So, yes Click, you are correct- if a parrot witnesses a crime, it’s possible it might in fact reenact the crime scene as one of it’s calls!

Yeah, there was a case where the only survivor of a bar robbery was a parrot. The police thought the bird kept saying, "Robber! Robber!" @@SocialistStrike twins marrying twins is more likely than having a stranger twin?
@SocialistStrike
@SocialistStrike 10 месяцев назад
@theinquisitivecritter stranger-twins are virtually inconceivable at the present moment. Genetic diversity is limited but not so limited that two completely genetically identical people would ever meet, outside of being born of the same mother. The phenomena of syranger-twins is a genetic lottery in its own right, that they meet drives the odds down further. People may phenotypically appear to be twins, like the various episodes of FRIENDS with stranger-"twins", but it's unlikely their genes are a perfect, or even near perfect match. How they look on the outside (which may have some differences in its own right) may have little to do with how similar their genetic code matches, compared to their immediate relatives. So, yes? It's much, much more common for twins to marry twins, and for their offspring to all be, genetically, siblings rather than cousins. Why? Human predisposition. One of the twin pairs is more likely to introduce their twin to their partner's twin, or even to randomly meet their twin's partner's twin. They're more likely to find the face, body, and hormones of said twin-partner-twin agreeable, like finding the favorite bait of a species of fish.

I truly am tired of seeing how far and wide this myth has spread. The opening force is only about half of their bite, weak in comparison. But still usually far above 1000psi. As a hatchling, a rubber band is more than enough to keep them in check, but as they develop it quickly becomes apparent that nothing short of a Strong Aussie can keep their mouth shut. At their weakest, and at the very tip of their mouth, it wakes about 95lbs of clamping force to keep a croc closed. By all means, put a rubber band on ANY adult croc, i dare you.

I’m no fan of being in an airplane with crying babies but I also have some insight into why some of that crying happens. My ears fail to properly regulate pressure on their own so I spend basically 24/7 with my ears feeling like most people’s do when they go over a mountain pass. This means when I fly, my ears can get downright painful during take off and landing, especially if I have a cold. This can be part of why babies cry during those parts of the flight because it’s uncomfortable in their ears and they have no other way of expressing that discomfort. Every time I hear one cry during takeoff or landing I always think “I feel your pain kid”.

Ellen Burstyn, the mom in the movie, was pulled back with a wire repeatedly when she's being thrown to the ground by Regan. They did the stunt too hard and too many times and the take they ended up using also has her legitimate screams in it from her injuring her back. But they knew hers were real. The wheelchair waiting area is in case of a fire. Since the elevators are turned off, the wheelchair users have a place to shelter, particularly the stairwell that has extra thick walls and fire doors that are closed all the time unless someone is exiting and they are opened briefly. So they shelter in place until someone can come retrieve them.
@Kanashimimo

Yeah, I got to experience that firsthand. My friend is disabled, not in a wheelchair, but she has troubles walking. They did an exercise to evacuate us, and they completely forgot to lead my friend to this particular area. We managed to get to the zone (I stayed with her because the teacher just bolted out with my colleagues) and we just... waited here. For a long time. Until they remembered that they had to pick us up. Also, there was a deaf woman in another class, and the teacher never thought they should warn her that there was an emergency exercise. She just saw everyone standing up suddenly and one of the other students had to explain to her what was going on. Fortunately, it was just a drill, but imagine if that was freakin' real...

At 13:00 ish you're wrong about the parrot thing. Parrots don't associate meaning with words, they associate sounds with feelings and events. The most likely reason why the parrot said that and attacked was that when it was scared in the past, the owner or whoever, was trying to calm her down saying these words as people tend to do. If that was the case, the parrot would be saying these things when spooked or stressed out because that's what she heard earlier in life in similar situations, not to be mischievous or mistreated. TL:DR parrots don't really understand the way humans use language, it was probably just repeating what she heard when stressed earlier in life.
