I take most of these stories with a grain of salt, and that one definitely read like a glorified fantasy someone had in the shower. Going from associate degree to bachelor is two years, plus time to get to management, the rude manager from the other company wouldn't even remember her honestly.

The 2nd story definitely sounds like a made up story. Anyone who has worked in a corporate environment will know that there are different teams and managers for each aspect of the company. It's very highly improbable that you will get to interact with the same manager who rejected you again during a vendor meeting.

I think it would be hard to sue because they have to prove the story is about them and then show that others know it is about her and it is hurting their cash flow. However, the way this is written she is still not bad mouthing the lady because she is just telling what was said not necessarily calling her those things outright. It could be a slippery slope to be on in their county still but retelling a story and putting someone on blast is something I hope their system can tell apart.

I think it's better to make a group contract when making the group, otherwise you're reacting to being in trouble, instead of proactively insuring everyone is trying to achieve the same level of quality on the work. Then if people don't follow the contract you can start documenting like you described to get them booted out. A lot easier when you have paperwork showing what everyone agrees should be done.

Sure freeriders exist in the real world, but so do robbers. Does that mean that schools should replace grades with tokens and if someone steals your tokens, well, that will teach you to protect your valuables in the real world? Should teachers randomly select a few students and say, “You get automatic Fs because life’s not fair and some people have impossible situations through no fault of their own?” Besides, while employers may not have a great track record of weeding out freeriders, at least they have a financial incentive to do so, unlike teachers who have no reason to worry about freeriders other than their own internal dedication to their work, and, well, there are slackers among teachers as well.
