Dude, with how much tickets like that would cost; the partner could have probably been brought up on some pretty hefty theft charges.

A little context about the first story: It is ESPECIALLY bad that DHPartner did this and was caught on this. In business, it is absolutely frowned upon, and in some places illegal I believe, to give gifts such as that to clients that you are in the process of starting relations. Because it can absolutely be seen as a bribe. The fact that he used ANOTHER CLIENT'S GIFT as a bribe... Boy howdy, he got off REAL fucking easy.
@SailorMya
@SailorMya Год назад
Yea, he would have royalty screwed himself and his partners by his actions and I'm surprised the partners didn't find a way to force/buy him out because of what a liability he has proven to be... (OP did say he wasn't going anywhere so maybe he is a majority share partner or something...) Also could have seen prison time even with the tickets at face value because of how expensive they are to begin with. He is lucky he just lost money, respect, and reputation because he would have lost everything if it had gone the other way... (Hope the partners never let him live this down and mock his stupidity often! LOL)
@zfilms4858
@zfilms4858 Год назад
So, at minimum, since the tickets had to be over $1000, this is considered to be GRAND THEFT in Califinoa, a felony punishable to around 3 years in state prison! And if it was in fact bribery, that's an aditional 4 years on the state level. Imaging going to prison for 7 years for Supetbowl Tickets

Selfish and arrogant would be my take on it. Arrogant in thinking I'm a partner, a boss, so OP will just have to like it. A year later though when the company lost the contract the other partners will still have the super bowl tickets in mind as contributing to the loss of business.
@sentinel7672

@@glennrishton5679 Definitely short-sighted, yeah. He saw the Super Bowl ticket and thought he could give them to another client to look good, but never considered the possibility that OP would be asked about why he didn't go by the client who gave the ticket to him. He saw the benefits to his reputation and the company in the short term, but didn't stop to consider the consequences when his action came to light.

I don't feel too bad for OP2, being a landlord is an inherently predatory "job" to have. If anything I feel bad for the kid, and a bit bad for the couple, but OP2 imo deserves worse for commodifying a basic necessity of life and probably charging super high rent for an unfinished home. Better than most landlords with the first 2 months being free, and giving them a break in winter and for COVID, but honestly, shelter is a basic human right according to the UN and imo should be free. Especially if it's unfinished with no heat.

And yet he tries to act all macho, as if he was some kind of war hero. It may have worked in his 20's, but by the time he hit his 50's it was just pathetic. Like eye-rolling, whispering to your buds while jerking your thumb in his direction and snickering "Get a load of THIS douchebag!" He ended up going full on Q-anon right-wing Trumpty Dumpty lunatic, and ended up shooting himself in the stomach for sympathy (of which he got none), and is currently unemployed, divorced, and quite possibly homeless. Last story: I'm an assistant manager in retail, have a natural studder sometimes, I'm naturally soft spoken and tend to start slurring my words the more nervous I get. I've seen more than my fair share of guys like that. Hell, had one who obviously smashed an electric can opener and insisted it was defective and needed an exchange. I declined so he tried playing the alpha male card, acting like he couldn't hear me. Given growing up in a military family, and doing JROTC in high school, I learned to inflect my voice rather than yell so that I can be heard better. As soon as I started, asshat got angry for my volume being louder and tried saying there's a reason for me being in retail and him owning a construction company. Had other customers in line start to move to chew him out the moment I told him to get out. You could tell her was thinking about trying to fight before he stormed out. I'm not buff, or the tallest guy, and I've been working on my anger issues for more than a decade. Don't fuck with the people I consider to be family, my employees, or my good customers. I will let the dark side out.

Company of course complained when I decided to keep him company on any business trip which bored him. This saved the company money because we made the trip longer and airlines charge less if you spend the weekend. Of course we paid for my expenses but accounting decided the company was getting screwed somehow because I went and we shared the room. Actually the company should have been giving me their discount. Saw this in a Dilbert cartoon once. It happens to everybody apparently because accounting people are not very bright. OK that's not fair. Exxon's accounting people were idiots. The last story: Douchebag will probably drive he six hours to see if he can get the part but as the manager told the OP the other store(s) don't have it. that's even better.

people who think they can just go around picking on people, especially smaller or gentler than them, make my blood boil. i don't know what i would have done to that douchebag if i was in that store... probably something that would get me arrested.

Actually, 450 for 15 months is 6,750 plus 2,000 in damages so it comes out to be 8,750 that OP gets and should have told the PO

Hmmm... but are you even allowed to take gifts like that from a client? Couldn't constitute as unethical and bribery? Obv not in this case but it's usually not allowed for those reasons.
