Don't worry about what your mom said. She's not you therefore she cannot completely understand you. Heck, many people don't understand themselves. Get the necessary help you need to get better, don't worry about people who don't believe you.

Similar story for me. My first grade teacher told my dad she thinks I have ADD in the 90s and my dad reamed her out and told her she was just a bad teacher who didn't want to handle a high energy 7 year old. Yeah, I'm totally ADHD, figured it out as an adult, and my Dad is barely starting to consider it. Mrs. Alexander, you were an angel, thank you for being such an amazing teacher. I hope my family's bad experience didn't hold you back from reaching out.

Last year a doctor said that my older brother might have autism, but my mom said he couldn't possibly have it because he "spoke when babies were supposed to" and he "looked people in the eyes". So he's not going to be treated for it and we are _not_ allowed to bring it up again. I also think that I might be ADHD but mom said I can't be because I'm "not hyper active enough"...

@@rapogirl1391 my girlfriend is ADHD and her little brother is autistic. On brain scans, ADHD and autism look very similar. It's also hereditary, her father likely has ADHD but didn't start to know until his kids were tested. If you can't bring it up with parents, bring it up with school staff. And, sadly, if you think it might help convince her, do some research on what programs are available for spectrum kids. There are grants to help kids, if she can't even entertain the thought for your development, maybe she would for her ease and for the money. Either way, I'm sorry. At least you're coming to understand it about yourself early, I didn't get there until I was 30. Also protip, caffeine can work the opposite in ADHD people compared to normal people. Also, if you have weird sensitivities, those absolutely play in. Mine are people messing with my hair and food, any food, especially food I like, suddenly becomes revolting out of nowhere. Sometimes it's gross for a week, sometimes it's now gross and Forbidden food for life thereafter, like Watermelons for me the last 7 years. If you feel like sometimes you have no control of your senses and it makes you feel no one understands what it's like at all, that's kinda related.
