Hey guys, I don't want to make this a habit... but here is another service video. Super easy, but it can get messy. Hope it helps some of you that are on the fence about doing your own service. If you just want to see the service reminder reset... go to the 16:43 mark.

*_Thanks for sharing this. I very rarely change my crush washer, either. But I started using the Edwards kits that come with them. So I changed it._*

Np... I just inspect the washer. When it does leak its usually has been over torqued.

Great instruction ! I'm planning a trip from The Netherlands all the way to Japan. So I've to do some things myself during the trip. RU-vid helps me a lot ! 😋👍

Well done young man, always did my own regular maintenance and I will also be doing it again when the 1250GS warranty runs out. I have the LX thingymebob, code reader, gadget, widget from when I had the F700GS. Great for clearing error codes when on a trip to get rid of the annoying caution light when the computer trips over it's own binary 1& 0 strings. Doesn't take up much room and very handy to take along for the ride. There are plenty of good books and RU-vid vids that let you self pace learn how to do just about anything yourself. You just have to have the tools and some hand skills and give it a crack.

Agreed, you just have to do it... there is so much info out there. Most of the service can easily be done, you don't need to be a certified technician.

Don’t apologize for doing things the way you do em… The procedure is what we click on your video for buddy😂 That video just saved me $400 easy bmw bucks🤣🤣🤣 I’m coming up on my 12K and I have to take her to the dealership for almost everything but the 18K will be done at home for sure!!

I will be doing a video on checking the valve lash. Its also very easy and takes less time than an oil change. If the lash is out of spec, that would be difficult for some to perform the service. From all the research I have done they are very rarely out of spec... even with high miles.

G'day Ken. Thought you did a great job with the "How to" video mate. Very interesting about the service reset. Wonder if the same applies in Oz. I will certainly chase that one up. Bit of a weird looking oil filler cap on the GS as compared to the standard type. But hey, it's a cap. Showing a little empathy for you here brother as no motorcycle rider has a bloody spotless garage floor!! You are forgiven for spilling a tad of oil on the floor. LOL😂. Stay safe mate.
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken Год назад
Hello Andy, thanks but I think I may need to get an assistant if I keep doing this how to's. I thought the filler cap was kind of strange when I first got the bike, but I guess there is a reason.

Wow, so much cheaper than the 911 Scan tool........Thanks Ken!
@Yo-Ken

Its very easy to use, it will diagnose everything on the GS. The only reason I would have to bring the GS back to the deal is for a software update.

carl newman;.... Hey Carl, I did see your comment but removed it by mistake. There was a spam comment just below yours and well I got you by mistake. Anyway I do remember what you ask. I did the valve lash check, it takes less time than the oil change. My next how to will show how simple it is. Its only difficult if they are out of spec, which they very rarely are

Agreed, super easy and less than $60. A win win.

Nice and easy and I like that scan tool. Coming up on my first 1 year service - appears they also want to change the brake fluid at year #1, then every 2 years after that.
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken Год назад
I did not realize the brake fluid is required after the 1st year.
@Hogdriver88

@@Yo-Ken I figured the normal 2 years, unless the moisture content is high. But they say at year #1, then every 2 years...

Cool, I wish someone develops something similar for Ducatis. The Ducati equivalent is a $400 tablet for Bosch ECU equipped bikes.

Is it possible to use OBDLink and Motoscan App with iPhone 12 ? I tried without success . I have a RT 1250 and I do my maintenance myself . Thank you for your demo . Bravo
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken Год назад
From what I have read, Motoscan has no intention of making a iOS app, it won't work with the iPhone12 . My only suggestion is to my a cheap android device.

I know this one is a little old. My FJR is as easy if not easier but my VFR is a PITA. Mostly because all the farings have to be removed to get to the oil filter and drain bolt.
