In this weeks video we look at r1cbu firmware for the X6100 radio You can get the firmware from www.r1cbu.ru/ You can flash the memory card with etcher.balena.io/
Do you prefer the 6100 over the g90? I'm trying to decide between the two. I love the screen on the 6100 but I'm wondering how helpful the extra 10w would be on the g90?
10W doesn't make any difference. You should look more into external battery (g90) vs internal (x6100). A bit better ATU on g90 (10:1) vs weaker on x6100 (5:1). And mature firmware on g90 vs jus ok on x6100 (but with ability to experiment, and launching custom ones). Also x6100 has a tendency to overload vs g90 is much less sensitive to overloading (still can happen tho). So if you have strong AM stations nearby some external filters may be necesarry for x6100. Also 6M band on x6100. And last and not least price difference ;) In short: G90 - great battle tested HF rig that stood the test of time and is well regarded by the community. X6100 - cool rig with great potential (since it's just a linux box), perfect for experimenting and as QRP shack in a box. 73! P.S. If you're interested in digital modes x6100 has internal sound card built in, so it's much less hassle to set it up vs G90. Something worth considering as well...
The g90 doesn’t have fm the g90 radio I had was just to reflash the firmware to get the radio back up and running. The g90 does 20w I think . Didn’t really get long enough time with the radio to have a long play with it
I'm getting the x6100, for many reasons, mostly because I've had all the yaesu,s icons etc..been there, done that, the G90 looks fine, but 10 Wats won't make much difference really, the much bigger screen on the X6100 is far more important to me.. and it's lighter weight, and slimmer etc..and has an internal battery..its a no brainer really..
