The day I’ve been waiting for! Today I get to ride up the famous Großglockner mountain road with the Can-Am Spyder F3S, and complete the final step in the Großglockner challenge!
I am so happy to have been able to do this, I wasn’t expecting to be back up in snowy scenery so soon after my last adventure to Iceland, and the cold landscape was hugely appreciated after sweltering in an odd heatwave for the last few days. The 3 wheeler took great care of me up the many tight hairpins of the mountain road that would normally scare me until I get used to them. As you can see, I left very early so I could get up the mountain before it got crowded and I’m glad I did! I’ve never seen so many little Vespas and performance cars fighting for road space as the day went on. Despite the two and four wheeled obstacles I had an amazing day, and I’m sure everybody taking part loved their day too!
That’s it for the challenge now, after a speech and awards at the end of the day, Can-Am riders started heading for home. Tomorrow I have to start the long journey back to Dieppe in France, but not before I take a quick detour…

Fame at last! (That was me saying "Hello Liz"😊) Thank goodness there was no rain until the very last night! A shame that the snow was blackened by pollution from exhaust fumes, I think they may have to limit the number of vehicles that go up the Grossglockner in future...

That's a neat little motor. There's not a lot of exposure for them in the UK. Looks a lot of fun. Scenery is great but I don't share your enthusiasm for snow. You're getting the hang of overtaking, uping the pace. I like it👍

To answer your question at the start E5 petrol contains 5% Ethanol and E10 contains 10%. The Spyder will take both types although E10 is the normal type to use. Many do use E5 as it is supposed to give better fuel consumption although it is more expensive. Older engines don't like E10 as the rubber seals in the fuel system are damaged by the Ethanol. If you had arrived at the tolls later there would have probably been a dedicated lane for Spyders to save having to wait in line. There looked to a bit less present on top of the car park compared to last year although hard to tell with snow covering a section where they were parked last year. (They reconned between 250 and 300 last year.) You definitely got the rain on the last evening, hope you didn't get too wet getting back to your accomodation. Did remind me a bit of my first ride up the Grossglockner, rained all of the way and going up to Bikers Point it was a thunderstorm. Going down was fun with water flowing across the cobbles on the hairpins, I was glad I was on a trike not two wheels.

Good aventure. You really do like the Y-experiance dont you. I was afraid there for a while when you did not know what gas you put in. Just a heads up for you to get better youtube retention, use the end screen to promote other videos of yours. Liked. Cheers from Swede in Mexico
