The Race Across Scotland
Billed as a 215 mile race, chuck in a large diversion and many a wrong turn, bumped it up to 227 miles (365 kilometers) ...triple the distance I've ever ran!! Finishing time of 75 hours, 46mins got me 8th place overall. The first 25 finishers are awarded with a Gold buckle.
Covering the full Southern Upland Way, this is a 215 mile continuous ultra marathon run by GB Ultras. A truly monumental adventure starting out in Portpatrick on the West Coast of Scotland all the way to Cockburnspath on east.

Music used - Music from #InAudio: inaudio.org/ Track Name.
Epic Cinematic Adventure, Majestic Vision
It's going to take time to fully digest the magnitude of what I've achieved, it really is a rediculous distance to cover. An incredibly well organised event by GB Ultras and a big thank you to all the volunteers and supporters along the way, couldn't have done it without you! ♥

What baffles me most about these endurance challenges is they’re seemingly impossible on their own. To FILM it and remain coherent and sane blows my absolute mind. You’re a monster of a man and a monster of a filmmaker. Loved it!

That guy that was running to give back the cup who forgot at the checkpoint at 25:34 was me. Honestly a few times I forgot at checkpoints poles, and every time someone from aid stations was running with them to catch me and give it back. In the end I didn't leave anything at the checkpoints, but lost my buff in the woods somewhere after the 210 mile mark

Ah no way, so it was your cup!? Easy done, esp the more tired you get!! Your lucky it was just your buff u lost, I'm sure there were others losing their sanity 😂

@@TheRandomRunner I contemplated when i come back for a holiday to run the whole length of the UK - is that something you have contemplated ? i would do it multi-stage - it would be probably cost a lot as I would pay someone to take care of bags each day from point A to B...
@TheRandomRunner

Funny I was just reading about a company doing this over 17 days, running roughly 50 miles a day! Although they do it as a road run www.ultrarunningltd.co.uk/race/jogle/ There's also Ratrace who do the Run Britannia, proper trails most of the way but expensive. Or a lot of organisation and do it yourself!!

Aw cheers man! I very much appreciate your comments. These big events we challenge ourselves with are hard, and this race was the first time I truly felt the difference between mind and body. There was no getting around it, my body was suffering, but there was a point, as you say when something clicked... My mind had no reason to suffer as well. I saw many a broken person during that event where it was clear to see they had let their mind and thoughts get the better of them. All the very best with what adventures you have ahead!

That was so cool. Huge achievement! What watch do you have and did you have to charge it during checkpoint visits? How much liquid did you carry between CPs where there were gaps of 30k? I’d struggle with this. Last- would you ever consider doing a training plan vid? Epic stuff.
@TheRandomRunner
@TheRandomRunner 10 месяцев назад
Hello! Thanks for kind comments! In answer to your questions... I use a garmin fenix 6x, turned off Bluetooth, backlight, WiFi, heart rate. Estimated it would last 65 hours however I kept it topped up at the checkpoints. Top of my bag was a charger and cable. I also stopped the watch at checkpoints and pressed 'resume later' until I was ready to leave. With regards to fluid, I've always ran big distances with a water bladder in my backpack, a 1.5l one from osprey. Then in front pocket a 500ml soft flask for some energy juice. A training plan vid is not something I've considered, guess I don't follow any sort of rigid plan, like to run to feel. I guess if you are interested then follow me on Strava where I post all my training runs! www.strava.com/athletes/51295058
