Some of the greatest on-track stories from the legendary NASCAR career of Jimmie Johnson. From his days in the Busch Series, through hard times and good times, to his legendary 7th Championship. I was a Gordon fan during the 5-year Championship winning streak so I'm not exactly his biggest fan, but Johnson is undoubtedly an uncompromising model of success in the racing world.

For me the craziest thing about Johnson’s success is how many key parts stayed the same from his rookie season through his final win: Hendrick Motorsports, 48, Lowe’s, Chevrolet, and Chad Knaus. The other interesting thing is the contrast of just how much the sport changed over the same amount of time. From the traditional race format and full season championships with the triple digit points format in the generation 4 car, through the early Chase format with the smaller numbered points system and various shapes of the Car of Tomorrow, to Stage Racing and the playoff format in the Generation 6 car.

It’s funny that the 92 excedren car was my very first die cast back in 2001 and I never could figure out who drove it, until I watched earlier races and figured out I had a dime piece on my hands.

He was without a doubt the dominant driver in probably the most competitive era of NASCAR in history. That being said, I looked through EVERY SINGLE WIN of his career for this, and he rarely was the winner of an exciting race. He was so fast that the race would be boring to anyone not rooting for him, so that probably didn't help his case with the other fans lol
