From Simulators to the Arcade, there's an incredible variety of experiences you can have with just a track and a car... and sometimes not EVEN a car! It's time we appreciate both the incredible realism of simulators AND the high octane excitement of off-the-wall arcade racing games.
I've had some parts of this video sitting around since Fall of 2021, so if it sounds like a video that was rewritten 9 separate times... there ya go!

Love having to move the stick half a millimeter to go through the turn properly. That isn't frustrating at all.

It’s a wonder why you only have 1k subscribers when you SHOULD have atleast 200k. Keep up the awesome work!

I've had racing games to play since I had Hot Wheels cars to play with, and we're talking a good while ago. And over the years, simulators became the only racing games I really care about. I'll still play any racing game, and be good at it, because I'm fundamentally good at racing games. For me, racing is fun, in any form. But I'm not buying a new Need for Speed or Forza Horizon title. I'm getting that new Assetto Corsa 2 when it comes out next year. I'm THAT guy. The reason I love sims is because I remember learning how to drive a go kart, or hell, ride a bike. It was insanely difficult at first. Then got easier. Then I got good, then great at it. And when it came time in my life to want to drive, I realized that, wow, that's pretty difficult too, and way more intense. Growing up a racing fan and watching guys yeet anything with wheels and an engine (or even just an engine if we're talking snowmobiles or boats) through courses or over a quarter-mile distance, I realized as a preteen that driving race cars must be really, REALLY hard. So it's the only thing I wanted to do. Naturally. But I can't afford a race car either, so I got racing sims. I like them BECAUSE they're not for your average gamer, or even your average driver. It's the best in the world who drive race cars, not your aunt. Unless your aunt is Shirley Muldowney. Point being, sim racing is niche because racing is niche. Not as far as the fanbase, but for the participants. Just like any sport that takes a really long time to master. The average person can "do it", I guess. But they can't do it well. So I don't knock racing games. Whether it's an arcadey kart racer, a simcade like Forza or Gran Turismo, or a best-attempt virtual recreation of really driving a race car like iRacing or NASCAR Racing 2003 Season. I love racing, and I have fun playing them all. But there's a difference between having fun, and feeling satisfaction; getting a sense of fulfilment. I can have fun throwing darts, but won't feel fulfilled unless I can throw a bullseye. I can have fun hitting golf balls, but won't be fulfilled unless I can drive it 200 yards. And in racing, I can have fun just going fast and trying to beat another person or a bot, but I get fulfilment from using techniques professional drive-fast-people use to beat other professional racers when I'm going fast to beat another person or bot. I guess it's not for everyone. But give me the wheel and pedals any day above the controller.

I'm thrilled to see the other side of that discussion here! Obviously I see a lot more value in the creativity and whackyness of arcade stuff and that's why this video even exists lol, but clearly there's other takes that are just as valid from people like you that just LOVE sim-racin'! And I get it because even as an arcade/sim-cade fanboy I've had some very cool and fun experiences on flat-out simulators. I hope a lot of people see this comment from you and there can be some real cool discussion, I'm really glad to see positive talk about what we LOVE and not just what we don't like 👍

@@the54car Thanks for the kind words! I hope your channel really takes off so there's more opportunities to open up discussions like this. Your content is great (I've left 2 other comments on your NASCAR game ranking videos lol), you share your opinion without bashing the other side. I try to be that way too. You definitely deserve more views and subs!

If your racing game doesn't have spectacular wrecks, giant jumps, and/or (preferably "and") lots of explosions, I'm not interested. Not too many newer games like that, unfortunately. Wreckreation looks like Burnout crossed with TrackMania. Definitely interested in that one; it's scheduled to come out this year.

This video, along with the other videos I've binged (yes I've been binge watching your channel LOL), are just fantastic. I'll make sure to let other people I know about your channel, because I'm sure they'd enjoy it as much as I do.

I'm afraid one had to look through indie offerings if they wanted a good modern arcade racing game fix like Horizon Chase (Turbo), Horizon Chase 2, and Trail Out but then again, I'm sure there are other upcoming offerings like TDU Solar Crown, which for all I knew it's basically Starfield/The Day Before of racing games with how that game is basically hasn't showing any proper gameplay what-tf-soever & the severe lack of communication makes you appreciate whatever EA, Playground Games, and Ubisoft doing with NFS, Forza, and The Crew despite their own set of problems
