Join me for the Hard Alpi Tour. This is one of the longest and most scenic off-road rallies for larger adv style motorcycles in Europe. This video will show you the full behind the scenes from the start line of the 36 hour HAT - Hard Alpi Tour event covering 760km across northern Italy in one go. I'm riding the Pan America, an adventure bike never before seen at this OVER2000RIDERS event in a team of three with hubby Ruckymonster [riding a Harley-Davidson Pan America] and bestie Anika [riding my Honda CRF 450 RX].
We've had a rough start with the Honda having a major fuel tank leak on the hot drive down. But thankfully that was sorted and ready for the 11pm start...yes despite being 80% off road the Extreme class starts at night...
What is the Hard Alpi Tour aka the HAT:
It’s an tour with 80% off road terrain in northern Italy with multiple classes ranging on distance and time. We entered the Extreme which ish 760km in 36 hours.

About the Harley-Davidson Pan America:
How heavily did I have to modify the Harley-Davidson Pan America to make it handle a 36 hour Hard Alpi Tour Extreme 780km event? Here you go:
Changed the rubber to my favourite adv Michelin Motorcycle Anakee Wilds for the best traction
Added OEM Harley LED lights on front bars
Strapped on Mosko Moto Reckless 40 panniers for my sleeping and bivi bag, and road snacks
Screwed on a Peak Design phone mount
Downloaded the Harley navigation app to load the events GPX file straight to the bikes screen
Paired up our Cardo Systems intercoms for the ultimate banter
Carried charging cables and power banks to recharge lights / phones on the road
Turned off HD traction control and selected off road mode
Then...it was all down to me!

This is totally bonkers Vanessa! I love it! It's not just a test of the machine and the rider but the endurance of both with little down time. I'd guess by the time you finish you'll all want to sleep for a week but seeing your previous content you will be out and about doing fun stuff right after. I guess you have to condition yourself well in advance to do these things but surely at some point the sleep fairy will wave her wand and 40000 winks spell will be take place. Another top video Vanessa and it's good to hear that Mr hubby Ruckymonster and Anika are there as well. These Harley D's are a very interesting species of bike and I hope Mr HD Custard looks after you. I look forward to the updates. Thanks for sharing.

Looking forward to your footage. Had thought about participating on my old Transalp 600. But that Piemonte region is so exceptional that I want to see its views during daytime. My Beta Alp 200 is quite perfect for that! But maybe you'll show us a wonderful "race" that makes me/us change our minds. Happy days, Günter/Nürnberg

Vanessa, love your channel and the content you produce is top notch! If you had to chose one 'do it all' bike what would you go for? In the last week I've test ridden an Africa Twin and a Rally Pro. I'm edging towards the Rally Pro but there is so little in it. Wish I could afford both!

oh thank you that’s super kind of me to say. I would probably go 900 Rally Pro if I was going for an adventure bike. Having done the 1000 Dunas rally on it (I’d recommend watching that RU-vid series if you haven’t already) I really think it is A Bike that can handle everything from pretty technical off-road to super comfortable touring. The AT is great bike too

Great one...next challenge for you is the Motor Cycling Club's Edinburgh Trial this autumn. 14 hours, 17 sections, 119 miles...and it's in Derbyshire, not Edinburgh. You have to clean every section to win a Gold Medal...I'm sure you and the orrible arley could do it.

1st in Andorra make your way up to Mirador Roc Del Quer | Canillo on the Ebike they should make it what a view.. 2nd what electralight you have in your water packs do you need a special bladder to use with stuff like that or is the basic ones ok.. 3rd wow what a cool tour/race to do with friends shame i dont have 3 good riders that i know that can do offroad riding lmao

I use a brand called Tailwind and it is the best one I have found for me as it is a mix of electroylytes, carbs and protein, it provides a huge amount of calories for extreme endurance and I just use a Mosko Moto bladder, but I am sure any type would suffice

Braver than me, that Harley is the worst bike I've ridden in 30 years bar none! No doubt that it'll be wonderful for RU-vidr's, but no, uncomfortable, vibration a nightmare! A TERRIBLE experience.

Oh no, sounds like you had a rough experience, maybe the suspension etc was not suited to your riding needs
