Racist Asshole Fired After Mocking Coworkers Child

A man on Facebook posted a picture of himself and a 3 year old black boy, and then proceeded to mock the child on the social media site. Not only did he make fun of the boy but other coworkers and friends did too. Gerod Roth took the picture with young Cayden Jayde who is the son of one of his colleagues. He and his fellow workers who were mocking the boy have been fired. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian (The Point) hosts of The Young Turks discuss.

“Internet trolls rarely make sense but they are usually tucked away to the dark corners of comment sections or pass themselves off as eggs on Twitter. But now we’ve reached the juncture when racist internet trolls are so shameless that they freely use their Facebook profiles and full names to spout their disgusting nonsense.
That was the case when a defenseless and rather adorable three-year-old boy became the center of racist and abusive Facebook comments after a white Georgia man decided to sneak a selfie with the child and post it to his page for all his trollish friends to lampoon, implying that the child was a slave and referring to him as “sambo.”

+Yo Shorti At the end, we are ALL the same, only that some of "us" are too stupid to see it, to feel it, to know it. I think to speak of another human being as a "black person" (or red, or yellow etc), is wrong, there are only 3 types of people in the world, women, men, children and nothing more (note: the black man "the man in the dark" is jumping out of the closet at night and ..., a bedtime story for lil' kids :-) ). In my case, for example, I was raised by my mother, not to discriminate against anyone, not to hate anyone, on the contrary, to open my arms, my heart and my home for everyone. Only with love and respect for each other, we can heal the world.

You dont get it. Let me explain. It is not about seeing a "black kid" obviously, everyone can tell if a person is black. The point of the quote is that a non racist person sees all children as equals, regardless of the color of their skin, so the fact that the child happens to be black makes no difference whatsoever. Where as the first thing that a racist person sees, and thinks of, is "black", with various racist overtones associated with it, as opposed to seeing just a child, who happens to be black.

vadermike777 I don't think most people understand what racism is. it does not make me racist to think of an individual being black or white, even if it's my first judgment call. what makes a person racist is to believe he is above every other race, and that other races are inferior to his race. in this situation they make racial remakes belittleting the kid with stereotypes of a black person and seeing themselves better for being white, which falls under rascim.

There is nothing wrong with seeing a "black kid", (that is the first think I see as well), but there is something wrong when ALL you see (or care about) is the fact that they are "black", and thinking that they are somewhat inferior. You did it because you took issue to it, you had nothing better to do and you happened to watch this video. That is the exact same criteria as me, however, i don't discriminate. If i see someone spouting bullshit (in my opinion) then i call them out on it. Don't whine just because someone did it back to you. My main issue was the undertone of racism in your comment, the stupidity in the sarcasm was secondary. Sarcasm isn't constructive in the slightest compared to actually articulating arguments so its not logical to use it when it just causes more offence too. tghetto5 White people have no idea how terrible they can be. Myself included. I am lucky to have been raised by a family that is neither overtly racist nor teaches any racist prejudices. I am lucky that I was born with a very open mind and was born to a mother who embodies empathy. Unfortunately there are too many who teach their children to fear, hate, or feel no sympathy for people of other races. A lot of those people don't even know what they're doing, it's just been engrained in them for generations. It's truly unfortunate and the more we speak up about racial issues, I think the more racists will realize that their fears and hatred might not be so valid.

However, as I grew older and my friends sister came out as lesbian I learned to accept them. One of my bosses was gay, one of my music professors was gay, and they were both nice people. It completely depends on your parents while sexual orientation usually seen as "problematic" amongst the youngest of the children in a family. While I never thought of this guy as a friend, I no longer have anything to do with him, nor any of the poeple he associated with. I cut an entire segment of my friend/family base out. That guy was a neighbor of my ex-SIL, when I was with my ex. He would come to their house whenever I was there and say that to me. None of the children were with me on any of these occasions. He was a jerk! I would just leave. (The guy was from an old money family from Alabama.) No, sorry. I have no problems with my grandchildren. I have never seen 'color' when I am with my grandchildren. They are so young and innocent. Having people around them that are like that guy will only teach them about and expose them to racism. I tried to avoid that, as well as, sexism, with my own children, and, now, my grandchildren. At 65 years old, I don't let many people in my home, nor, near me any longer. I have no patience for bullcrap.

I grew up in Manhattan and went to a private Quaker school (not that it was a religious school, the majority of students were Jewish) and *_literally_* didn’t know racism was a thing until I moved down to SW Florida for high school. The first kids my age I met were these two girls next door who were black and we fast became friends. When the school year started, one day I was talking to the class _”prettiest girl”_ in my bid to answer the screams of my hormones when one of the neighbor girls walked by and said _”hey Orion”_ which I responded to and she kept on going... before she was out of earshot tho, said _”pretty girl”_ said _”how dare that uppity n-word speak to you like that !!”_ I knew that word existed but had *_never_* heard it used in anger like that before, I immediately stood up and that _”pretty girl”_ suddenly became wholly ugly to me, so without saying anything I walked away towards my neighbor and went off with her. That afternoon after school she explained it all to me (seriously, while I’d known racism was a thing I’d never experienced it before, it had just been an abstract concept to me as I’d grown up with *Sesame Street* and *Mr. Rogers* in a city with people from everywhere in the world) and she actually turned out to become my first girlfriend. It’s a sad state of affairs and I’m honestly ashamed of the direction this country is heading in... especially if trump can seat the kind of lunatic he wants on the Supreme Court. No one is born with hate, they are taught to hate. As *Charlie Chaplin* put it in *The Great Dictator* in his final speech: *_”You don’t hate !! Only the unloved hate - the unloved and unnatural !!”_*

I'm a non-US citizen that subscribes to this channel, among others, for a more global perspective on current news, politics and events. I'm used to the more editorial approach from TYT, but this clip didn't mention the content of the original post that sparked the outrage which led to the video being made in the first place. Likely it was justified. I'm familiar enough with the presenters and have enough trust that I don't doubt that their outrage is justified. That said, failing to provide the facts and evidence before a contention is unacceptable when making news. Overall I'm disappointed as I didn't feel informed from this video. It left me with additional questions that could of been addressed. That kind of style, which jumps to a forgone conclusion, is familiar to FOX News. I like this channel. Please don't make a habit of it.

The comments I see are in support of the child and not of the racist coworkers, and it is very encouraging to me, that the watchers of this video are awake and as shocked as anyone could be at the callousness of the ones making the cruel remarks about this beautiful child. We all make racial remarks from time to time, it's in our human nature to do so, intentionally or unintentionally, but we do it at the privacy of our homes. I however would become greatly concerned if this interferes with our Freedom of Speech (i.e if the same guy posts a similar photo with a random kid outside of workplace, would he still be fired?)

they maybe jokes for you..have you ever asked the People you make those racist jokes about if they think its just a joke. that's the problem with most racist. you don't even get it when you are racist. you rather tell yourself that its just a "joke" to make yourself feel better. pathetic!

+dramatish Here is how it goes. I go up to a black friend of mine. I say a incredibly racist joke to him about his race. He pauses for a second, then says something even more incredibly racist about white people and probably adds something about my mother, grand mother, or even my dog. I then go OH SHIT! Act sad for a second and we both laugh and hangout for a bit, or whatever we had planned to do.

+THeSummoneD I don't care that he got fired, that's fine you can get fired for all kinds of things. I just don't like people attacking the idea of jokes.
