E-Bike Question of the Day ⚡ Which component of an electric bike is "make or break" for you? Let us know in the comments below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

Dang, I really wish they had kept this bike. To me, it is the most well-though out, durable, bullet proof bike frame in the market. It was like the Toyota Camry of bikes, it could have been around for all of time haha

I am new to E-bikes so I'm shopping around and checking out reviews. I've seen several videos of others already and you should honestly be proud. You have such a clear structure to your videos, tackle all the questions, and your visuals are easy to watch. All of that crammed into 13 minutes too! Some of these reviews are just so long and when I'm shopping around those add up and my whole day is gone. lol but you got it right on the money! Thanks for working on these!

Did you have to assemble it yourself? If yes, was it difficult?
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 3 года назад
Assembly is minimal. It ships 85% assembled and it should take less than 30 minutes to complete. If you would feel more comfortable having a professional set it up for you though RPB does have service options that they offer. www.radpowerbikes.com/pages/mobile-service

Decided to buy this bike because I take two buses to work resulting in an hour and a half transfer time Had this bike for about a week now cut my hour and a half down to half an hour. Half an hour full speed minor pedal assist I’ll lose one bar of battery out of five. On the way home I lose a second. So all in all for about an hour and 10 minutes of bike riding I’ll lose two out of the five bars. I don’t even notice the medium hills I traverse. And the bike has got to be one of the most smoothest solid bikes I’ve driven in a while. Thoroughly impressed and recommend it to anyone looking to get around the city in a Ease.

@@bruceweez I loved it so much I bought one immediately following the test ride!😊..and the best part is that I didn't have to wait to get mine. I was gonna order the midstep in black and wait God only knows how long for it to arrive but the sales guy who was helping me said they have one in the back still in the box that I could purchase right then. The only thing was that it was red, not black and if I was ok with that then I could avoid the long wait. Well of course I jumped at it and they even said they'd build it for me but I would have to wait for that to happen. It took a week but I was rolling much sooner than expected. And the red isn't really red at all, its orange and it looks killer!..I just got lucky that I was the first one there in the morning for my test ride because that bike would've probably sold that day to someone. After much research I finally went down to my local rad dealer here in Vancouver and took a scheduled test ride on the step through model. I chose the bike with the lower top bar as my back and knees aren't what they used to be and I found it much easier to mount than my current regular frame hybrid. Well needless to say I fell in love with it and basically all the great reviews were right so i decided to purchase one today. Unfortunately they're currently out of stock with the black ones and it would be a long wait for one but they had a red one in the back of the store so that's the one I bought. I could have taken it home today and assembled it myself because people online are saying it's pretty easy but I have zero confidence doing that kind of thing, so out of caution I'm having the rad shop put it together and if I gotta wait a bit then so be it. At least I'll know it's done right and if there's anything unexpected it can be dealt with before it leaves the shop. I'm so excited to be able to go on long pleasure rides again all over Vancouver and around the seawall and beaches!...

Reviews like this with real world tests are very helpful. I wish all reviews included them. I have a few extremely steep hills near me and was very nervous about how the single gear would work. I figured at worst, I could just use the PAS the same way I would use a geared bike with PAS 4 being the easiest gear. PAS 1 and 2 can be used as gears to make riding easier, but PAS 3 and 4 are too strong LOL. I do have 2 hills near me where throttle only won't get me to the top. I'm 175lbs and these are some steep hills. With PAS 3 it's a challenge that requires standing, but it can be done while sitting with PAS 4.
@ElectricBikeReport

They really need to offer a version with gears. Single speed is fun in a way but it's just poison for your knees. Hell, with its 50/16 teeth it does 6.6 meters per crank turn, that's knee-bursting madness at lower speeds. Even more for the European version with the motor limited to 250 Watts and no throttle. With 7 gears like their other bikes I would buy one immediately.

I just got my bike yesterday and took it out. You definitely notice the cutoff when you get to the max speed (20 MPH here in the USA). I love this bike This is my first ebike, so I can't really compare it to others. Like you, I wish there was a way for the bike to calculate the energy it takes to reach the max speed and maintain that. I'm not sure how that would happen though. For example, if it takes 200 watts to reach max speed, I would love the bike to then lock in at 200 watts and allow me to put in my power on top of that. One challenge would be when I then encounter going up or down a hill. The bike would have to change the amount of power to maintain the max speed. Curious as to how other bikes do it. Only had it for 24 hours but I can't wait to get on again today at lunch time.

Glad you liked the review! Careful with disabling the speed sensor though. Depending on the laws where you live it could leave you in a spot of trouble if you get the speed going up too high.

Hi, is it possible to pedal at a minimum pace ("pseudo pedalling") and still reach the maximum speed if you are on the max. assist level 4?

If it's like the Radcity. Yes you can. But really I prefer not to do it. I keep my assist at 0 and use the throttle sparingly

These Reviews are so much better than that dweeb EBR that bla blas on and on about irrelevant features to fill the time. I am in sf I was wondering about the hill climbing. Too bad it’s only 9%. SF has a lot of 15-20% and even up to 40% in a few areas.
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 3 года назад
Thank you! Yeah SF has some insanely large hills. Some gearing options might be a bit better for your situation.

I'd like to know what's Pierce's height? I have the Rad Runner Plus but I want to buy another bike, the Rad Mission 1. I can't seem to make up my mind but the high-step vs. mid-step is something that I need to make sure I'm comfortable with.

Pierce is 6' tall. On Rad Power Bikes' website they recomend the mid-step for riders 5'2"-6'2" and the high-step for riders 5'10"-6'4"

As someone who likes to keep a consistent cadence, the singlespeed drivetrain sort of puts me off
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 3 года назад
It's definitely a tradeoff with any singlespeed. We find that getting into a groove with the PAS levels is a way to still somewhat adjust your cadence while riding, but it isn't the same as a full gearing system for sure.
@hailhummus
@hailhummus 3 года назад
@@ElectricBikeReport I think for non-electric SS bikes, the benefits are simplicity and weight savings which you trade for cadence in varied terrain. In my mind, with an e-bike, most of those benefits aren't really there since you've got an electric drive system! I will admit I have yet to try any of these bikes, so maybe a test ride will change my mind real fast :P Really appreciate all your indepth reviews. They've really helped me understand the benefits of electric bikes... years ago I was very much turning my nose up at them.

Wait wait wait. Single speed?!!!! So you use the same gear ration to go up a steep hill and down the hill??? Why????
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 2 года назад
Single speeds have certain advantageous on bikes in general, but with the motor of an e-bike they are even easier to get behind in our opinion. Still, it won't be for everybody.
